Jerry got his revenge on the GOO that night. Was only supposed to play for 8 minutes and play only country. He ended up playing for nearly a hour and played every rock and roll song. The crowd went crazy and loved it. Jerry even let the F word fly a few times. Unheard of at that time. The GOO dissed him for many years and treated him like a disease. Dale Wood and her husband was the only exception.
Jerry Lee gave us an awful lot of different emotions in his songs and performances over the years, but this is one of the few times I can recall hearing humility.
I love this piece and the entire story around it. Jerry Lee got his own back on the jerks at the GOO that night. He showed the world what they were made of and what he was made of. He won by a huge country mile.
Apparently, from what I've heard, this was his only appearance ever on the Opry. He broke a number of Opry rules that night by 1) going past his time limit, 2) playing some of rock and roll hits, not just his country songs and 3) cussing.
@@callmejeffbob He treated them exactly as they deserved. They shunned him from the start and refused to give him a chance. Jerry Lee Lewis is THEIR loss. One of the Best country singers who has ever lived.
Fantastic!!

This a beautiful moment in music history, a miracle that it was captured.
This is a historic gig between these two giants, both exceptional masters in their respective fields of piano playing
Historical moment
Awesome!
Wish the Opry would've had Jerry Lee on there more in last years.
