yeah i just spent 3 hours building out premiere portion and for an hour now i've been stuck on WTFFFF he clicked to export it into after effects....it's opening all the layers in AE as .aep layers..w/ broken image link so you can't see the words LOL.....@@PolymerJones
just a psa: you click render and replace in after effects and when you pre compose the layers, ONLY PRECOMPOSE THE LYRICS NOT THE MATTE LAYERS! thats how your able to lay down your markers. laying down markers for a full track takes around 15 minutes hope this helps
As a editor with more years of experience than you have in life I suggestion one thing: try to simplify your process or you gonna be tired soon of doing what you want. Music Lyric Videos could become pretty anoying to do if you dont have a good workflow and proccess. What Nick showed here is a pretty good start, he shows how you need to prepare your assets to keep the simple work flowing so you can focus on hard details later. Sorry my english tho. PD: Also, be careful with copyright music, you gonna get strikes and you gonna get your channel down.

But lots of details are missing and I have gotten totally lost and ended up closing and going for a more in-depth tutorial ! it seems it was a "really quick tutorial and skip the basics" kind of video. I hope this comment can help you make tutorials aimed towards those who are beginners as well

so you tediously copy and paste and make new text for every word in Premiere just to make markers to completely redo that whole process again in AE? how is that saving time? what about using a plugin like DecomposeText to split the layers by words? It seems crazy to write out the text layers twice in this process

Found it... Right Click > Replace with After Effects Composition. This will open the selection up in after affects. If you listen close, you’ll need to select all the lyric events (not the chopped up color Matte) and pre-compose those. It’s pretty much to flatten those layers to get them out of the way. You ACTUALLY making use to the black matte. hope this helps someone else.
Cutting the layers did not work for me when I transferred over my work to After Effects...they all still show up as large blocks of red as long as the song, instead of where I cut them in Premiere

You have to select all the text and the colour layer. Right click and select the option "replace with After Effects composition"

Can’t figure out the “import into after affects” part. There several ways to do it that don’t keep the line endings.
