@@lucaaaaaaaas Agree. Even just putting down a tiny bit of station track and just placing a vanilla asphalt path next to it would look great! I mean this is the 80's after all, commuter railroads were quite neglected back then.
One of the most famous landmarks in the keys is Alligator lighthouse. It is an old lighthouse a couple miles off shore and on the weekends hundreds of boats anchor there to go snorkeling on the reef. It would be a cool way to give life to the ocean
Man this looks amazing. And congratulations on your marriage! As for public transit I'd love to see the railway getting built between Santa Julia and Sunset City. For a station in Santa Julia, you could very much get away with just a station track with a vanilla asphalt path next to it. This is the 80's after all, Commuter rail was very neglected in the 1980's.
I think these islands are going to be the best part of the series. Very cool--especially the water which looks quite realistic. Two changes for this area: please fix the traffic going in. That first two way road, based on how you have the cars going in, they can't enter or exit really. Right now that junction is just for show. Second thing, would be to add those residential blocks into some of the hotels to boost up population in this area for workers and also downgrade some of the houses in RICO so you aren't getting level 5 complaining at you.
I know I’ve said this before but that smaller island on the way out to the islands would be so perfect for a mini “value” resort with a motel and tiki bar
It's great you're making something like this especially with Hurricane Ian having destroyed Fort Myers. Florida looks lovely and I'd love to visit Central and Southern Florida but now is a bad time so this is the second best thing.
I've been to Central Florida (Orlando/Disney World), nice part of Florida too. Sadly, they got impacts from Ian too, thankfully it was just flooding unlike Fort Myers :(
You just built the perfect little landing for a ferry at the end of that breakwater, so I’ll back a ferry! I also think a little DMU intercity train would be great since you have the track for it.
I use the "deprecated" surface painter, and have had no issues so far - and by now I am terrified to change anything due to the bug you're experiencing :'D Big congrats on the marriage, what a wonderful milestone! - Enjoy your honeymoon!
Love this build 👍. Have fun on your honeymoon. I would think an intercity bus would be cool to see going across the bridge and I know there’s a good asset on the workshop for it called the ‘MC-12’ intercity bus perfect 80s-90s look.
I live in south Florida and man that looks like the keys style if I've ever seen it! Great job man we also sometimes have live oak with moss down there on more bigger islands
Looks great, I really love 80s Florida/Miami (totally not because of Miami Vice); although one complaint I have would be the big power poles along the bridge : in my mind, I think they'd have placed the power lines under/along the bridge rather than on separate poles.
Florida was important during the Spanish colonial era. One of the islands with a fort like Castillo de San Marcos in Saint Augustine or small outpost like Fort Matanzas would be cool. They keys should also have lighthouses at least on the first and last possibly integrated in with a fort.
Amazing work! I have a house in the keys so I really feel connected. Also you should have more places with the word Key in their name, since it is the Seminole Keys haha! I’d love to see one named Silver Key.
i would change the turn lane on that main road so that traffic coming in to the keys can use it as it's backing up a fair bit it makes more sense anyway as traffic heading out of the keys doesn't need that extra lane to wait to turn whereas traffic turning across traffic would block the whole road while they wait
I love these episodes where you just focus on creating a small, intimate community with a lot of thoughtful context. I'm 3 months late, but I hope you had a lovely wedding, honeymoon, and first few months of marriage.
I would actually argue no public transport for this spot at all. You’ve got to remember, it’s the US and this would be a very rich area, and they’d want to keep the poors out. so nothing. No ferries, no trains,. No stops here. This feels like the kind of place which would descend on council to oppose even the smallest bus stop because it’ll “ruin the character of the area.”
A ferry service would be cool, you could just model it like a yacht club or something so it would just be the residents driving their boats or yachts to the mainland. You would only really have to change the models of the boats.
I just feel like it would be cool to have some sort of golf resort on the keys, next to the resort you already built would probably look great, though another island may be even more suited
At the end of the keys their is an island named Dry Tortugas. Theirs no bridge connecting to it, so you have to take a boat. Theirs a fort on the island and you can camp their. I think it would look really cool in your city.
that texture by the industrial yard looks so nice like it slopes into swamp. A few loose gators? Beautiful build, reminds me of Sanibel Island before Ian. . . happy honeymoon, look out for falling iguanas!
I had a similar issue with the "ruined" texture appearing randomly all over the place. For whatever reason placing down decals causes this glitch. What solved it for me was enabling the option "prevent ruining by props" in the Bob mod options under the "visual effects" tab. Hope it helps.
I was absolutely blown away by that invisible network tool for landscaping and the boat spawns. Totally didn't know either of those existed. Heck just the other day I watcedh City Planner Plays do the size one/strength one landscape brush struggle to get a square shaped pond.
Would you please let the cars drive straight forward when entering the city? The coming traffic will be insane once you start building the other islands, because every car is stopping and trying to make a left in the junction. Plus. The hotel could use a golf park next to it :) Cheers!
The only think that this island would have would be a bus connection to downtown Sunset City, right? There's no way the city would pay for anything else for something so small. It'd be a twice daily bus that just goes direct to downtown, and thats it.
The traffic comes from having 2 nodes too close together. Every individual car stops on the highway before turning into the town because they don't want to block the intersection. (I don't know exactly why it does it, but moving the rail crossing a bit further should fix it.)
Not sure if anyone said this, but the left side of the entrance to the marina should probably have some rocks/boulders there to buffer the wake of boats coming in and out. Nice stuff!
hey! I have a house in key west! the palm trees are all very large and dense and they typically cover most back yards in shade and create lots of shade on the beaches
Last I checked Brightline didn't exist in the 1980's and the whole of Sunset City is meant to be like Florida in the 80's. There are plenty of run down 70's and 80's North American trains on the steam workshop, CBQ Fanatic/Astro in particular have made loads and so using that would be a very good fit.
Hey, I feel there beach around the big resort should have a private area with large section of dense sun loungers? I understand this may increase prop number though
Think missing some services like police and fire. Would be great to see those small town police and fire stations as well as maybe a small medical centre

It kinda irks me that the three buildings of the resort on the corner aren't properly alligned. The resort adjesenct to the tennis court needs to be moved a teeny bit towards the beach, so that is lines up with the building opposite the street.

Why not build more of those? All of the keys looks like those little homes surrounded by the man made channels. Consider making more of that island those things. It will look better and more realistic. Currently that island has no housing except for like 3 trailers you’ve spaced unrealistically far apart. Consider making more channel “water front” subdivisions on that island to make it look like the keys

Add a commuter bus line
Aren't new roads darker than older ones? Hence the new developement's lighter roads don't make much sense imo.
Also it’s not a new development, 1960s houses in the 1980s would’ve been finished and have a normal colored road by then. But ur right on the road
