In this brand-new series, we try out some of the factions that we ranked on our tier list to see just how bad they really are...
tips to play boris from a boris vet....abandon your start and fight norsca
Boris will never surrender!
Lies ! Defeat archaon rapidly (quite difficult but it can be done) and then you're free to go west wiping out any chaos nations up there, ou're basically unstoppable until you meet the other side of the map
There is one time where I left my start as Boris and fought Azag. He has a great starting province and is in a really safe spot.

As a boris lover and main best thing is to take city of praag from rosvotal clan and then expand to the norsca or kill arceon. You get easy confederation of kislev and orthodoxsy.
The "oh hi changeling" at the end, acting like this was their plan after all.
wtf tehenhauin's factions is the best out of all the Lizardman, he can get free armies with the random follower button.
Yeah well we've never played him so we just went off his stat card
+ you can confederate the other Lizardmen factions so fast, because of the Skavenwar. I was on Turn 12 and i could confederate Gor-Rok
or free building factionwide
Bro out here discovering Mournfang cavalry for the first time, it's a precious moment everyone get the cameras out.
Its really funny to me how everyone assumes Clan Rictus is the weakest Skaven faction especially as the least important in lore and out of it Skaven leader imaginable so I guess it makes sense but holy shit Tretch can pump out massive armies of Stormvermin which usually suck ass but he does offer some good buffs for them. Ironically he can recruit them in 1 turn too and Queek can't. Queek being a literal Stormvermin and not specialising in them as much as Tretch always made me laugh. Also his special trait I forgot the name but the one that helps his units run away is very strong for the skaven AND to top it off he gives immune to psychology to Stormvermin making them AMAZING frontline holders for your absurdly broken weapons teams to do all the damage dealing. Tretch is the opposite of Ikit. Ikit is overtly powerful himself and Tretch is covertly powerful with his army. This also means that Pestilense is the worst Skaven faction now so good choice for them as one of the weaker factions in the game I would have to agree with them being chosen over Rictus as the weaker rat bois.
Is pestilence weak? I remember in Warhammer 2 they were able to overrun lustria very fast with just skaven slaves and catapults.
@@jarvee9407 That is literally ALL they can do sadly. That is their entire playstyle the problem with it is you can also do it on the other Skaven factions and they have other tools on top of that like Snikch being able to remove a lord from the map (balanced lmao) or Ikit nuking or Queek recruiting more heroes etc all the other Skaven lords can fill the exact same trash spam niche as Pesti ESPECIALLY since all Skaven factions can use Priests for spamming spawns like slaves and clan rats so why pick Pestilense? Unfortunately for the bubonic rat boi you have no incentive to pick him over the others. Plus they have the hardest spawn of any of the rats (in my opinion) little rant there but it sums it up nicely.
Queek recruits Stormvermin in 1 turn, not Tretch. Tretch gives them better buffs than Queek. I feel Pestilens are by no means weak. Their plague is amazing and they can use it twice as often as the other rats. It ruins enemy growth, economy and damages their armies. It give you growth and income and replenishment buffs. It can win you a war that you wouldn't have won otherwise. Plague priests are great mages to have and Skrolk can recruit more of them and pay less upkeep on them than the other rats. Skrolk himself is the best plague magic caster in the game and a good fighter. Cheaper plague monks and catapults is the 'meh' part about Pestilens' uniqueness but it doesn't matter because the other stuff I mentioned before is so good. His main difficulty is his start position. You have to beat two lizardmen factions for the chance to fight a third while possibly getting invaded by another from the south lol. All before you've left Lustria. Not to forget the Cathay dlc guy (who's name I forget lol) plus Marcus and Alberic. You can befriend Rakarth but the ai sucks with him 🤷

I don't understand the hate for Boris Ursus. You start with two War Bear Riders that get buffs against demons. Just slap some demons, take their settlements and sell them to other demons till they run out of money. Then you krump those demons. It is a perfect pyramid scheme, because you are at the top.
Tehenhuin is by Legends opinion the best Lizardman character simply because he can get free buildings, so yeah.

He can also get free armier, he also has a 20% ward save banner

You can pretty much make Skinks armys for free, and all you truly need are some kroxy gors to push into mid to late game
he has the coolest faction effect "all lizardmen are at war with all skaven"

I completely understood putting Clan Pestilens In garbage teir, but the other default factions aren't nearly as bad. Mainly because they, you know, actually somewhat synergize with there unit roster.
Pestilens is busted. Skrolk is a raid boss, and the plague furnaces make everything easier. Like you can drop one on the wood elf big tree next to your starting position and it buffs everything
no skaven deserves garbage tier. Their ability to ambush on attack, and make tier 5 cities from almost the start of the game, as well as having a ton of army ability summons and one of the best low tier autoresolve units in the entire game means even tho pestilens is the weakest skaven, he's still nowhere near the bottom. But tbh most of the tier list was bad, they put dwarves wayyy to high (no magic, slow growth, low replenishment, no mobility), and ofc tenehuin is insanely strong when getting the right bonuses, the fact they put him in garbage shows they don't know how to play him.
Festus should be down there either, as WoC is just too strong a faction. Great eco, easy vassals, strong souls buffs etc.

Oh there's a bit of leeway sure, but this tier list is just wrong in many ways. If you don't believe me, then i'll happily play tretch, festus or tenehuin against you playing actual bottom tier factions.

Im confused about half of the choises on the list lmao. How in the f is Festus, Boris, The lizardman boy and Craventail in D tier? Nurgle in general at the bottom lists. If its by starting location, then i kinda would understand, but why is Imrik at B, when his location is worse than half of the boys at C and D. This list seems to be made just randomly or just to mess with the watchers lmao. Also calling Boris the worst is the most weirdest thing ive heard so far, him and half stack of bear riders can take any faction near him with either max AI cheat autoresolve or manually just flanking.
Kislev as a faction is good but Boris has as a lord has no mechanics, terrible start postition, has to fight achaon immediately, and can't survive in chaos climate making his settlements shit.
@@EpicSynergy See, i get where you coming with that but the thing is, he does have a mechanic, quite unique aswell.
Hes factions main thing is to raid and cripple Chaos factions to defend Kislev. Sure his starting position aint the best and fighting Archeon isnt enjoyable. But its also the best option to do.
Theres so many ways to go about it, but imo the best and easiest option is to start heading east, killing both Archeon and Kholek at the start before they get too strong. Then you can take on Chorf and Vilitch decently easy and allie with the twin dragons. Now you have amazing defence spot and you can start heading back, reclaiming lost settlements and taking good teritory on the mountains.
You can survive in the chaos waste quite nicely aslong as you have general idea what you are doing. I kinda get the idea of the tier list now, but again. Boris has way easier starting position than Imrik, yet they are far apart in the list. Also they both "have to" live in unpleasant location for a bit before they get slightly stronger.
Also i still dont get why both Nurgle factions & Kairos are so low, when all 3 are crazy strong factions and can clap pretty much every nearby faction decently easy on vh/vh with max AI cheats aslong as you have general idea what you are doing.
So thats why i was a bit confused at first cos the factions are all in weird places even tho they share the same aspects.

Cult of Sotek? Greasus is not as low as Skragg? Clan Mors is pretty ok IMO.
Love Boris. Easily the character I've played the most. He's my version of the Karl Franz, whenever I think of playing someone else I just think of him
tehenhuin is easily top of a teir if not higher. the early game is the only time he is kinda weak
This tierlist is WILD. Orion in A? Orion is usually banned for being too powerful, he’s S. Skarsnik below Grimgor? My man Goblin Waagh stacking basically IS the meta, and Skarsnik does it best for GS. Mors as the worst faction in game? Mors expands faster than any other clan and their frenzied clan rats/ warp fire throwers allow them to conquer the world at one of the fastest speeds in the game, easily auto resolving any AI they run into and easily matching throt and Ikit’s bonuses with the sheer Size of their empire and economy. Kroq-Gar in A is just ridiculous.
Astragoth goes up because his victory condition factions are up there. The blue one either goes up and kills the nurgle faction then spreads, goes to grimgor, or try to tske cathay but most the time they just taoe the gates and hold.

2 out of 3 players flourish even with the worst factions... ogres kingdoms need a different approach and it is definitely not shown here.

Cult of sotek D tier ? that's wild, his be far and easily the strongest lizardman faction, with free building and a million faction buffs permanently on easy start, with only pestilens as an enemy (which all lizardmen hate anyway) scales the hardest with the sacrifices too, for sure an S tier faction at the very minimum high A tier
dwarves have always been s tier but not after thrones they are s+ tier

Boris is nice to play if u leave the chaos waste and capture Praag so u have one city that is stable and then u can go back to the chaos waste

When u get eight peaks with clan mors clanrats and stormvermen get frenzy faction wide as well as the fact clanrats start so cheap that skavenslaves have a higher upkeep then them so cant agree he's a f tier atleast not compared to the unbaked mechanics of skrolk who really needs help to put him on par with the other great clans

To play as Boris I rush archeon and then go to the frozen coast. He snowballs from there. I have never had a problem with that. You just gotta rush archeon and your good
Also just don’t push left until you kill archon because the burgle boys are very unlikely to attack you.

Clan Pestilence was so horribly missplayed. If you get warpfire throwers you get all of Lustria in around 35 turns and dont have to fight any battle at all. A mid Pestilence player could 1v2 a good Orgres and Kislev player without breaking a sweat. But yea... having a base understanding on how to play skaven would be nessecary.
Okay the skaven auto resolve thing is just not true try putting 2 to 3 warpthrowers and watch your autos become a million times better
I will only say, the dwarf are GOD!
chaos warriors unironically the easiest faction in the game. i always end up making 20-60k per turn with them. make sure to vassalize as many norscans as possible, raze everything except dark fortresses. income building + chaos shrine + economy building that increases % of tributes paid (whatever its called idk). chaos shrine alone gives 30% buff to all favour earned from buildings in the local province, all the way to a 50% buff. that shit is absolutely bonkers

Tehenhauin is one of the strongest lizardmen factions by far, and how on earth is festus bad? Every single warriors of chaos faction is pretty powerful

How nurgle is not being at trash tier? They literally have worst economy out of all chaos factions they can't any building already building up. It's super expensive to get somewhat decent armies with this growth system and etc. for bretonia you can at least get broken grail knights and hippogryph knights with life magic. Lizard men Sotek is one of the most bkoren lizard men factions in the game you can buff your army to a ridiculous amount

why Grand Cathay ranked so low? They literally have anything monsters heavy armored infantry strong missiles strong artillery excellent economy and etc. also you cannbuff your jade warriors to a ridiculous amount

Boris and Skrolk really are not in good starting positions. One is surrounded by Chaos and the other is surrounded by lizards. Yeah, they definitely are D tier.
skrolk does have a bad starting postion....but he's a skaven. So definetely not D tier, they have too much op stuff in h2h.
@@sympunny8636 Except for the fact he has no allies and once he breaths wrong(which is at all) everyone wants to murder him. Good luck fighting Saurus, Bretonnian Knights, and undead firing lines with just Clanrats, Skavenslaves, and the occasional plague unit.
Kraken lord low tier ? Armies without extra cost, who have many aoe.
And helleborn better tier ? Valkyria right on her right to kill her, alarielle is super far away and strong, so no bonus
I love dwarfs but none of them are S tier. They are a C-B tier race depending on the leader/faction.

As a sotek fan I can’t wait to see him raise from the depths of F tier. If you are lucky and win the lottery of his sacrifices you can get a follower that grants 20% building cost reduction (it’s stackable). If I remember correctly it’s a 1 in 7 chances to get that follower specifically and it should be one of the tier 2 sacrifices.
None of us have played him but I will try him next time we do a regular campaign

As someone who is a dwarf/high elf main...yeah I understand why the dwarfs would not be in S Tier. Grombrindal is an S Tier Lord in buffs and skills, but his faction absolutely not.

The tier list was just our opinions as a group and no one likes to play him but we know he is good so we just settled with A
