      Yes we have been on it even more times. It's old and in need of replacing but it's still a lovely ship with excellent service. We have been on it twice this year. Our favorite is Cunard but they don't do enough 1 week med cruises for us.

    My favourite ship is Britannia, however Oceana is P&O’s most beautiful ship by far, it just looks so elegant from every angle.

    my first ever cruise was on Oceana last year. Completely hooked now, booked for Ventura this year can't wait. Thought Oceana was a very friendly ship and enjoyed every minute. Good quality postings BTW.

    Very nice video and enjoyable. I think the Oceana is the nicest of all the P&O ships, just the right size, without being too large and a beautiful Atrium with its elegant glass lifts. We have booked this ship for a 12 night Iberian Cruise in Dec 16. But for the coming summer we are going to Norway on a Fred Olsen Cruise in June. Thank you for sharing your video with us.

    Have to agree with other comments ... poor old Oceana IS looking a little tired - the old girl needs a good old refurb.

    Thank you for this video. I am going on a cruise August and will be stopping at the same places. Just want to ask, when you stopped at Corfu was there a beach nearby?

    • @ourtvchannel
      @ourtvchannel  9 років тому

      discoenergy You get a lift into Corfu town from the ship's dock , you can walk but it's about 1.5km in the Sun. So take the shuttle bus and then in Corfu town there are beaches.

    Looking about going on oceana in the summer, been on Britannia last year and Ventura the year before, how does the ship compare apart from the size are there any other differences.

    • @ourtvchannel
      @ourtvchannel  8 років тому

      It is a much older ship and in need of a refurb in many areas - but on the plus side we like it better than the more modern Ventura. The size of the ship means its easy to get on and off at ports and the common areas are less busy too. So if you don't mind it being a bit rough in some areas then the overall experience is great.

    Very informative video! My girlfriend and I are thinking about our first time cruise, possibly aboard Oceana. On a fly cruise do you have plenty of time to explore the embarkation port? In our case it's venice. I guess it would depend what time your flight arrives etc...

    • @ourtvchannel
      @ourtvchannel  8 років тому

      +Rob Wrathmall Hi Rob glad you liked the video ! You should forget about seeing Venice if it's your embarkation port unless you get a very early flight. We have just come back from a 7 day med cruise , almost the same as this one and again on the Oceana. It too started in Venice but we had no time at all to sight see and that is not untypical. It takes about 50 minutes from the ship to St Marks sq.. by shuttle boat and you will find it hard to board, exit and return. If you want to see Venice, look for a cheap Venice break and throw away the return flight. e.g. something cheap inc. flights for 1 or 2 nights and instead of coming back make your way to ship on the last day. Although we like the Oceana, it's not a luxury boat. Think 3 star with 5 star service and various great places to eat ( at extra cost ) on board. We like it because although it's a bit tatty in places it's small and therefore feels more friendly and is less packed with passengers. Cruises are like hotels 2,3,4,5 even 6 star so saying you like cruises is like saying I like all hotels. Someone people like the "Butlins" approach to cruising , we don't. Cunard is our main choice but P & O , Princess provide a good alternative it you avoid the short "party" cruises and school summer holidays. Hope this helps. See my other video on the Cunard cruise to compare maybe.

    • @robwrathmall
      @robwrathmall 8 років тому

      After reading some reviews I'd say Oceana maybe isn't our first choice of ship, lots of people mentioning the ships maybe looking a bit tired and due for retirement. There is a fairly similar Cunard cruise about the same time as we're planning on going. Bit unsure if Cunard is a bit posh for us? I've been on a cruise before, years and years ago but this is my partners first (she's a primary school teacher, which means we're pretty much stuck with August for holidays) ...hoping we make the right decision.
      Thanks for the info, You've given us a lot to think about!

    • @ourtvchannel
      @ourtvchannel  8 років тому

      +Rob Wrathmall We are not posh and you'll love Cunard. They have all walks of life on the Ship. They only have three ships and we've been on them all many times - all are great. I think your first cruise should be special so I'd say go Cunard if you can. Choose a cruise with very few sea days and then you are just using it as a portable top class hotel. P.S. My wife says many cruise lines will allow you to add days at the end or beginning to ensure you can sight see. So if you want to sight see in Venice , which is really a must, then ask the cruise line to book a flight on a day or two before plus the hotel.

    • @robwrathmall
      @robwrathmall 8 років тому

      The Cunard ship does look amazing, and Venice is a must no matter which cruise we do. Tell your wife thank you! I'm costing it all up as we speak.

      +Rob Wrathmall Excellent I am sure you'll love it and I don't work for Cunard !

    We have booked an excursion for Rome as its a good way from the port, but Kotor, Corfu And Monte Carlo loon walkable easily is that correct? Thanks

    • @ourtvchannel
      @ourtvchannel  9 років тому

      Ozzy Brew Yes that is correct. You don't need any excursions on this trip except Rome and Rome is more fun on your own but if the first time to Rome you might prefer a guided tour. Have fun.

    • @owensjl65
      @owensjl65 9 років тому

      ourtvchannel Thanks - you have put my mind at rest as we haven't been on a cruise before! Looking forward to it. Did you book the MPW restaurant? We have booked one night - generally the food looks great!

    • @ourtvchannel
      @ourtvchannel  9 років тому +1

      Ozzy Brew We have on another ship, the Ventura, and it was great. We like the specialist restaurants on P & O ships more than the main one. Some cost as little as £5 extra per person and are well worth it. I am sure you'll love your first cruise. The Oceana is a nice ship having a good ratio of size to passengers i.e. it's not over crowded like some of the newer ships.

    • @owensjl65
      @owensjl65 9 років тому

      ourtvchannel Hi. One more thing if I may? There is no footage of Rome, did you not go there on this occasion?

    • @ourtvchannel
      @ourtvchannel  9 років тому +1

      Ozzy Brew The day we should have docked in Rome the sea was very rough so the captain decided he could not enter without risking hitting the sides of the ship against the dock walls. So we missed out. Not happy but safety always comes first; remember the Costa Concordia disaster. We have been on many cruises and many times to Rome so it was not so upsetting for us as it was those for whom Rome was rightly the main attraction.

      Been on the Ventura , it's sister ship. In some ways it's more modern but given the choice I'd go on the Oceana although I am sure you'll love it.
