    Nice! I wish there were more videos of ships going through the sea from this angle, it's great to watch :)

    I've been in a force 11 gale, lying on the bed in my cabin, an announcement from the captain said you may like to know we've just gone into force 11.
    Absolutely wonderful, I love it, the waves banging against the ship, the comfort bags appearing on the stairs always makes me smile, they just appear like magic. Going from side to side and up and down, not knowing when as the corridor looks normal and your trying to stay on your feet. In the restaurant having dinner going up and down, the high waves outside, love it.
    The ship slows right down to around 4 knots and the stabilisers are used.
    Love it all, nothing beats cruising especially a circumnavigation round the world I did 5 years ago on the Arcadia.
    The freedom of cruising has gone now in the situation we're in, hopefully it will come back soon....

      Expandable bags to be sick in, they appear by magic hanging on the rails going up the stairs.
      Always makes me smile, I used to be seasick but that wore off after a few cruises lol.....

    Wow, rough seas, but Oceana looks to be handling it with style
    I was lucky enough to see and film the Oceana leaving the Tyne a few days ago.
    Sad that she is going to be leaving the P&O fleet.

    Nicely done.
    Pretty ship.
    This is why - if you get seasick - you should try and get your cabin as close to the middle and the water line as you can.

    I question the usefulness of lifeboats on cruise ships.
    If the main ship is down because of the wind, wave & swell sizes how are tiny lifeboats stand any chance of not capsizing upon entering the water?

    • @irvingwood
      @irvingwood 4 роки тому +4

      The lifeboats are designed to survive in the worst seas. They are Enclosed, Sealed, and virtually unsinkable. Once inside you can seal it up and heave to, riding out the worst of storms by means of a sea anchor or wave quelling using oil. It will be a terrible experience, but you should survive.

    • @ShutTheHellUpAboutPokemon
      @ShutTheHellUpAboutPokemon Рік тому

      Yes, you're talking about old-fashioned life-boats. They actually weren't meant to save people from sinkings, they were intended to be used as tenders. That's one reason why even when early ocean-liners had space for enough life-boats to carry the entire population of the ship, they only carried enough lifeboats to hold a small fraction

    I came back this Thursday on Oceana from a Canary Island cruise....we had force 10 gales and a 25 foot swell on the way out and the same on the way back as we entered the English Channel because of course we have the storms currently in England....made it back safely though, unlike Marco Polo whose windows were smashed by a freak wave the day after....on our last night we were sitting in the atrium on deck 5 on Oceana watching the waves smashing against our windows :)

    I’m wondering in weather like this, should the cruise stand still rather than keep moving. I know they are on a schedule but😳🥺🧐🤔

    • @irvingwood
      @irvingwood 4 роки тому +1

      The Master will prioritise survival before the schedule. She can heave to, maintain head to or off the wind, and allow the ship to be forced backwards. This is not uncommon and would be routine good seamanship. The objective is to survive, even if she’s forced to give ground. I recall going 40-50 miles backwards hove to head to sea in a container ship with one propellor blade missing crossing the North Atlantic. It’s a big ocean. Who cares whether she goes backwards, or not.

    Você que é funcionário público que tem um emprego "supostamente estabilizado", vamos ajudar as pessoas autônomas nesse período de isolamento. Muitas pessoas estão sem trabalho e sem ter o que comer em casa. Estão tentando trabalhar e alguns governos Estaduais estão coibindo e não ajudam.
    Ficar em casa pra você pode ser fácil, afinal de contas o seu salário vai cair todo mês em sua conta, pelo menos enquanto o País não quebrar.
    Se a economia não girar, os funcionários públicos e empresários, serão os últimos a chorar ao ver que o o País quebrou e o pagamento não caiu na conta... pense!!!
    Vamos ajudar o próximo pelo menos agora que ainda podemos... amanhã não sabemos.
    Ajudar o próximo com uma cesta básica não vai deixar ninguém mais pobre, mas será uma grande diferença na vida de quem está proibido pelo governo de trabalhar e não tem dinheiro para comprar o pão de cada dia.
    Uma cesta básica custa na faixa de 150 a 250 reais.
    Pessoas humanas ajudam seres humanos.
    Ajude o seu próximo em sua vizinhança.
