Is this from the books? If it is, then the show perfectly captured his character.
@@koushikroy6259 yes from the book, but the show Daemon actually more towards dark because the showrunners cut some of scenes showed soft side of him. It is actually Matt's acting skill that make the show Daemon still enjoyable to watch even when he did terrible things more than supposed to.

Daemon Targaryen is the definition of a complex character. He is not a good person, violent and sometime evil, yet he is a truly loving brother, husband, and father.
What exactly makes him "not a good person, violent and sometimes evil."
What has he done that's made him bad, violent and evil? He likes violence but he's not unnecessarily violent. He does what needs to be done against his foes and those who would threaten his family.
Yea he haven’t seen the show I think😂 daemon literally kills his wife ,, for the power ! He was not obligated to do it, he wanted power for himself ,, and he is doing that for himself ONLY,

Him, Brynden Rivers, Aemon (son of Visery’s II) the dragon knight, and Rheagar are the coolest and most interesting Targaryens without a doubt.

@@hokagedlo6133 read the books and you’ll see why. GRRM put a lot of depth into each of those characters, especially Daemon and Brynden Rivers aka bloodraven. They are the most interesting, no doubt.

Technically dreams are the reason why the Targaryens are still alive. The Targaryens fled Valyria before the Doom because of Daenys the Dreamer.

@@thisguyknowsball Corlys is also a certified badass and I wish we got to see more of his adventures. This show is too short and skips over too much story IMO.

He’s one of the rare characters George writes that seemingly can’t lose. He’s handsome, charismatic, intelligent, reckless, open-handed, rides Caraxes, one of the strongest dragons alive at that point, top 3 Westerosi warrior in his day, a shrewd politician, a great battle commander, was a king although he didn’t sit the Iron Throne (Stepstones), was king consort if you consider Rhaenrya to have ever reigned, was the father of two kings (Viserys II. and Aegon III.), two extremely brave and awesome women (Rhaena and Baela) participate in the most epic dragon battle in Westerosi history against Aemond 'One Eye' Targaryen and Vhagar, is the namesake to Daemon Blackfyre.
I didn’t even name everything and that is one helluva resume that I don’t think even Aegon the Conquerer and Tywin Lannister combined could compare with (okay, maybe that’s a bit much); and while Daemon didn’t win everything he did, he surely had more going for him than probably any other character George has ever written.
Matt Smith did exceeded my expectations. Such an excellent performance from him in S1!
Well said. I am not sure about the "shrewd politician" and "great battle commander", but he is an extremely well written character to be sure.

@@meltemruz Thanks, that's good to know. He is very charismatic to be sure. But in the show at least, his decision making is very impulsive and he does not seem to have the patience or calculation to be a great general or politician.
Maybe as he develops in the show we will see more of that side of him, if he lives long enough.
I have not read the books, but I get the feeling he is not going to make it all the way to the end of the show.
There are old dragon riders and there are bold dragon riders, but there are no old, bold dragon riders.
@@Malpheron Definitely very impatient. But the warrior spirit is much better than management. Despite this, I think the best lines of the series were said by him. Particularly in the strategic (4x4-4x7) episodes, he had lines in his conversations with Rhaenyra that "if you want to rule people, you have to care about what they want" and that you have to be both ruthless and compassionate in equal measure . (I'm sorry I couldn't possibly write 100% the same) and because of the "blood and cheese" thing, people will hate the daemon character anyway. That's why it's so sad that the cute demon scenes featured or filmed in the book have not been published or written. The series team is really uncomfortable with this character being loved so much :) Finally, in the book, after daemon aegon was crowned, he was the man who made the best strategy by saying let's use the last dragons. But we watched the show like an unreasonable man who wants to avenge his greed and pain. I blame viserys the most, she was a weak character and it all happened because of her stupidity. Paddy is a great actor, but :) I wish I hadn't given a spoiler about daemon's exit from series. But I wait like crazy for that time to come. If you really didn't get any spoilers about the index finale, congratulations lol

His love for Rhaenyra and his brother cannot be overstated. Hands down my favorite character of all time in the Game of Thrones universe. Thank you for this great edit and showing his complexity!

I never switched from hating to love a character as I did with Daemon in this first season, Matt Smith's performance is awe-inspiring.

Best character by a mile and that is with everything they have done to diminish him. It's worth noting that Daemon really does lose a child with Misaria, never kills Rhea Royce and never isolates and mistreats Laena who he actually fights to safe and mourns when she passes. He is also very cautious about the war and doesn't want to throw in the dragons except as a last resort! The writers really seem afraid of the Rogue Prince and they should be- he is far more complex, interesting, intriguing nuanced and epic than any other f&b character. They have failed miserably to make the audience hate Daemon. And the most politically radical member of the show-writers, staunch feminist Sara Hess, is rather salty about it. We know this because she made it known publicly. Twice.
I'm sorry but she needs to be kept on a leash, otherwise, I seriously worry that, worst case scenario, we'll end up with a shitty HotD S2. Because it appears to me that such individuals are notorious for using entertainment products and/or services as a political platform. And while some are more subtle about it than others, in my experience, entertainment products and/or services do not benefit from it, as it's not appealing. And I've noticed that even the comedy genre is negatively affected by this, but I digress.
It's also worth noting that Fire & Blood is written like an in-world history book that tells the story of the Targaryen family and draws on several conflicting accounts to convey a historian's opinion of what could have occurred during the Dance of the Dragons. The show, on the other hand, isn't being told like a history book, but a document of the real events and what actually happened.
So, while Daemon may be described differently in the book, the show's depiction of his character is actually a more accurate portrayal of his true self.
there are rumors that he does kills rhea and in the show he didnt mistreat Laena he mostly disagreed with her. The books are written as if they are history books, whcih leaves a solid amount of possible itnerpretations. In the show he kills rhea and aemond didnt plan to kill his cousing, books never says both are true but do not disregard them. RR martin is also participating in the project btw.

Matt Smith is really a talented actor. He always potrayed perfectly every role he played. Ngl him as Daemon is probably my favorite role, second to the Eleventh Doctor.
Daemon isn't a person as much as a wild dragon that everyone thinks they can tame and control
One of the most important targaryens..He saved their dynasty from extinction through his bloodline when their family was almost destroyed due to the war

@@jaxzor how do you think it might be changed? I liked it how it played out in the books, it was awesome and I had a rush reading through it. Watching Daemon jumpe off Caraxes to strike Aemond through his remaining eye, falling to their death, Aemond still attached to his saddle, Daemon nowhere to be found but obviously dead seems good enough of a scene for me
Of all people I thought he would try to usurp the throne at the beginning of the season. Crazy how he ended up being one of the loyalest ones
This is so well done, I love how you always incorporate shots from other characters or scenes where the main subject of the edit is not even included but it all adds something to your story, incredible narrative choices from your part. This absolutely nailed Daemon's character, you really understood his complexity and authentic nature, which is not easy since he's such a layered character. Great job.

It was Matt for me, i knew he would steal the show with his acting but even the fight scenes he nailed it 👏
A complicated character, but not a conflicted one. One who embraces the good and the bad with relish.
I admire Daemon, during the first 4 episodes they make it out to be the villain, he doesnt obey the king as much as everyone else, he is constantly trying to be with rheanyra and he steals an egg and claims dragon stone as his own in 1 episode. Near the end of the show they start to show the man daemon really is, the episode that change my image for daemon was the end of episode 4 when he tell viserys he wants rheanyra and that "he will restore the house of the dragon to its proper glory", he cares about his families dynasty and the legacy it has. I admire him for his loyalty to his families name, he wont let anyone talk down on a targeryen or let anyone let them think they are above the targaryens. even during the last ep when it seems the realm is against the house of black he is still making demands and giving orders to everyone, he knows he is on the side of the rightful heir and he is making it known that when he takes the throne back for the house of black anyone who was against them will suffer, i cant wait to see all the things Daemon will do in season 2
Some people aren't suited for the throne and serve through sidelines cause they overshadow the Ruler even without being one.
And Daemon is one of them.

Matt Smith played an unhinged, rageful, and complex daemon targaryen so well. I can't imagine another actor playing daemon now.
At first I wasn't sure about most of the casting for the show but everybody was very great including paddy c. as viserys who was legendary.

Daemon is one of the best Targaryens of all time. It was kind of disappointing that the show tried to make him more of a villain than he actually is, but Matt is such a charismatic actor that even though they tried so hard to make audiences hate him, they just couldn't

in the end Daemon win the war, all his children lived, Aegon and Viserys became kings, Baela became lady of Driftmark and Rhaena is the last dragon rider (before Daenerys)

My favorite character in the game of thrones world
People say Daemon is overly Ambitious… I disagree. Those of us that are Younger brothers or the youngest Sibling, we know that sometimes the only thing we want is to impress our older Brothers. Although most of wont EVER ADMIT it, we want to be accepted and be loved by the older siblings who coached us through life, because at one point we all looked up to them.
It was so smart of you to finish the video with Daemon calmly singing to a dragon after all this crazy fights and dialogues. Can’t wait for more ❤️
