Hi, I am Dr. Lisa Zuckerwise. I am a maternal fetal medicine physician at UVA in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. As a maternal fetal medicine physician, my job is to care for patients with pregnancies or patients caring pregnancies that are high risk for any number of reasons. These can include medical complications of the pregnant person, complications of the pregnancy itself, or fetal differences that make the pregnancy high risk.
I'm passionate about pregnancy, pregnancy care, taking care of a family, a family who's growing, a family who's changing.
A new patient who comes to see me can expect a warm welcome, a person who really wants to see them as an individual, to understand their needs, and someone who's really going to listen. The privilege and the honor of helping someone grow their family, especially under challenging circumstances, is so meaningful.
When you come to UVA, you should expect individualized care. You should expect respect as a person. It's always my hope in every patient encounter to understand what a patient is seeking, what their values are, what their family's values are, what's important to them to accomplish through our relationship, and to work collaboratively to achieve that.
