  • Only my love for Young Fathers could bring me out to a crowded, hot, obnoxious all day corporate festival (though it was in Brockwell Park, which I love). The festival was Wide Awake and there were some other good bands on. But I was here for Young Fathers.
It's now my fourth time seeing them - I'm completely addicted. Just two months after seeing them at Royal Albert Hall, here they played outdoors and well before sunset. Sure, the sound did evaporate into the distance but I was on the barrier so I still felt in the thick of their power. The gap between the barrier and the stage was ridiculously enormous though and we all would have appreciated a bit more physical closeness.
I must apologise - this video is filmed entirely in Dance-O-Vision! The only break in the jumping and shakiness is when I shift to the big screens where you can see the band better. Oops! Of course a song focusing verbally on the beat of the drum would make one want to stomp one's feet as well. Weeee!
