    A duct blockage isn't flooding. It's when sediment or a pipe collapses, meaning they can't push the cable in.

    • @BrisyTechBytes
      @BrisyTechBytes  4 місяці тому

      It ended up it was nothing to do with a blockage at all, was purely down to there being no cable trunking leading from the main run to the individual properties, ended up going with my old supplier for gigafast and Openreach came out and dug the street up to run trunking and cable to the house.
      Just a weird situation as the houses aren't that old but when they originally built them it was all armoured telephone cables they ran in the ground and basically plonked the houses on top of them, smashing idea that was 😬

      I had this issue, it’s utter rubbish, if they do a cut and pull with blue rope , then use the rope to pull 5he fibre it clears the typical mud blocking they can easily run the fibre , city usually uses Kelly who are utter crap when doing call outs

    Just watched part 1 mate. Sorry to hear that. I got my equipment like yours and mines installed on the 8th. Kinda nervous now, no ones been out to look at it at all.

      I'm sure you'll be fine bud, in my circumstance it just came down to them not being able to get the cable to the house from the street.
      Openreach are having a similar issue but at least things are moving on with them and are keeping me updated, would much preferred to have given the Vodafone equipment a go though.

    Just watched both parts 1 and 2 as I am about to get Vodafone broadband installed next week and your video came up on my feed after watching the Vodafone setup video for the router. Had a few emails from city fiber so see how mine goes fingers crossed see you had done a part three which not watched yet but from the thumb nail see you got sorted with something

      @alanneilson6811 yeah after a lot of going back and forward I ended up going with EE through Openreach, it's been great so far but would still have liked to see how the Vodafone equipment performed, some other benefits of the Vodafone package would have been good like the full 910mbps dl speed, the wfii booster, the 5g back up and the digital phone line.

    sounds to me like you need ducting between your house and their network connection point in your street. if your existing sky cables are fed underground it might be an idea checking where they enter the property as the ducting could be the one they are looking for. however if the current copper line is fed overhead then yeah unfortunately city fibre messed up big time and need to install ducting to your house if they plan on running the cables underground.. OR find a way to put their infrastructure onto the openreach owned pole that holds the cable currently serving your house which is a possibility as there was legislation that allows this to happen passed not to long ago, either way.. good luck.

      Ended up ordering Gigafast through Sky tonight, will be interesting to see how Open Reach plan to get the cable to the house.
      There are no poles and the existing phone line seems to come in from under the house, there is no crawl space so no option to bring the cable in where the telephone cable comes in...so that leaves the only option I can see is to build a trench from the man hole up to my property. Will see what the Open Reach guys say, just keeping my fingers crossed they don't cancel the whole thing like City Fibre did.

      The process of installing FTTP can be quite intriguing. I was previously using FTTC, and on 2 Jan 2023, I received an email from my ISP BT (whom I had been a customer for 58 years) informing me that FTTP up to 1000Mbps was now available at my address. After confirming this on the Broadband Availability Website, I placed my order two days later. BT informed me that I could have an appointment for installation as early as the following week. However, as I noticed on the Broadband Checker that my existing Copper service was "Armoured Cables Directly In the Ground", I suspected that Openreach would need to install Ducting from the nearest Connection Point 53m away. To accommodate this, I selected a date the following month. An Openreach Engineer visited a few days later to survey the installation and identify where the Copper feed entered. He asked me to sign a wayleave form to allow them to trench through my front garden. However, I then experienced three consecutive monthly appointments being cancelled without any explanation. Finally, a team of 5 Openreach Engineers arrived and walked about our cul-de-sac for about 40 mins before one of them came to the door to confirm our order. To my surprise, he said, "I have some bad news for you. We have been sent to draw the Fibre Cable through from the Connection Point, but there are no ducts".
      I said that I knew there were no ducts, as that is what is on "YOUR" Broadband Checker site!
      However, my experience with BT was not as smooth. I then received an email from BT saying that if I wanted to continue with my order, I would need to pay just over £5,500 in excess connection charges. This unexpected cost was a major deterrent for me, and I decided to cancel my order with BT.
      What added to my frustration with BT was the knowledge that a neighbour in the next Cul-de-sac, in the same relative position and distance from a connection point, had been fitted with FTTP by Vodafone, free of charge. This stark contrast in treatment by the two providers only deepened my sense of injustice and led me to switch to Vodafone.
      I ordered with Vodafone, and it was fitted within four weeks (there was a slight delay to allow Openreach to install a new connection point in the Cul-de-sac (the engineer that did the survey had said that there should have been one fitted at the time the Fibre Network had been installed) as this would serve the four houses in the Cul-de-sac if/when required.
      It was actually the same engineer who did the installation a couple of weeks later. I am now very happy with Vodafone. Their service has proven to be very reliable, with stable speeds consistently higher than the advised max 910Mbps (I consistently get around 930Mbps and as high as 1.4Gbps) and low latency. Additionally, Vodafone Pro2 offers amazing Wifi, which has greatly improved my internet experience.
      All this came at a significant cost saving for me. I now pay £15 per month less than I was paying BT for a similar service.

      @bmcl5243 thanks for your feedback regarding your experience with BT and Vodafone, the excess bill you were quoted is unbelievable but I'm glad to hear you are now up and running through Vodafone.
      My story hasn't quite ended, have also had issues with Sky, this time it's nothing to do with running cables to the house as I now have that installed but waiting for a cable to be ran from the little grey box to the inside of the house and that's where my issue with Sky comes in...as a result I have actually replaced my order with Vodafone as I was looking forward to using their router and booster 😬.
      Need to wait a few weeks for the install but keeping everything crossed and will hopefully be able to make a another video with everything up and running and share my thoughts on how it performs .

    Im due to have Vodafone fibre installed, but its fibre optic via the telephone pole (Ariel Fibre) can they not offer you this as an alternative? After 2025 the copper telephone network is being switched off anyway and the infrastructure is already there. Im assuming you already have a landline connection (active or not)

    • @BrisyTechBytes
      @BrisyTechBytes  Місяць тому

      @BillyJames made a part 3 of this, after a lot of hassle I eventually got Full Fibre broadband installed through Openreach using EE, would still have preferred to give Vodafone a try but so far its been excellent with EE.
      Regarding the telephone pole, that was never an option with us, there are no poles at all in our estate, all telephone wires were routed undergrounrd

    Thats not good bro,…. 😫
    Mines still planned for engineers to install in 10 days but haven’t heard from them other than to confirm that date on email? No preliminary visits or anything? Hope all goes well for your installation in the future, & I’ll let you know if mine gets done….? 🤞🤞

      Unless there is any issues getting the cable to your property I think you'll be OK...I'm assuming that's the reason they have cancelled on me, can't think of any other reason why.

      @chrisohall123 I ended up cancelling my order with them altogether, not happy at being let down right from the off and the lack of any new installation date from City Fibre was a joke.
      I've now ordered Gigafast through Sky on the Open Reach network, dearer but the same download speed...let's see if they stick to their installation date (16th April)
