Making barb as a first choice without going as a support is usually bad for new/casuals. Attack rating is shit in this game especially at beginning also weapon repairs 😂
Tips for ladder. 1: pick sorc 2: farm resources (items until enough to farm keys, keys until enough runes from selling sets of keys for Rune words, when you're geared start farming trav/nith/chaos and cows to get your gg's) 3: once you're rich build whatever looks fun for the remainder of the season thanks for listening to my ted talk
oh yeah, hang onto the max roll stuff you find. 20/5's 40/15's high life skillers, perf facets that you arent going to use, max roll uniques etc etc. all sell for much much higher in the middle/end of a ladder season. early (first 2 weeks) no one has enough HR's to buy these things. Really good tips! I agree with almost everything! Playing in a party is the way to go! Its faster and much more fun :) But i do spend some time to farm on NM. You see most of the bases you need early game drop from Cows on Nightmare as well as the runes for the runewords. Also dont be shy to run Andy on NM. Every season i dropped something from Andy. Last season i dropped a 25 Viper. It really set me up for hell and than some! My advice is to start the ladder with a character that will farm targeted hell areas. Every season im starting with a Sorc.. This season ill starting with a Paladin. He will run hammers till we kill Baal hell, and than ill most likely respec to fists. You need to consider what are you playing for, do you want to run split farm games. Or do you want a character that will solo farm.. Than you consider the character and last the build. So for season 3 im intending to casually farm chaos, stony tombs, pit and tunnels so Enigma is not really essential for me, thus im starting with a Paladin. First ladder i wanted to split farm a lot.. so i had a full tall set fire sorc with infinity and all the end game gear which as Phil mentioned i obtained by farming a lot and trading a lot. So thats my advice. Good luck to all, may the Ber runes rain upon you this season ;)
I'd say a specifically made fireball/orb sorc is perfectly viable and was one of the best starter classes before sunder charms. Usually multiple classes is definitely bad, but there are certain builds that can really make it shine.
My top tip? Play the way you enjoy most. Not particularly bothered about screaming through Normal & NM? Do you actually enjoy farming/gambling at those levels? You may be looking to twink your other chars. Play the way you want with the character you want at the level you want using the speed you want. Enjoy.
The other pieces of advice are get a merc with a different damage element to yourself. There are a few things you need to kill in there game that will be immune to your own damage type and a Merc will help out with that. Noting well that cold and fire immune at the same time is a thing for a few of the elites you need to kill to progress so if you are cold or dire then getting some physical damage from your merc helps. A1 mercs also do some physical damage so they are an option along with A2 and A5 mercs. Also farming in Normal and NM to ready yourself for the next difficulty is fine. I agree with Phil that do not farm too long. Just enough to get some gear to move on. Farming Terror Zones is probably the best bey for that gear. Low and mid tier rune words are rather good to aim for as well. You can use a separate levelling spec, then respected into your different final build. But you do not have to. You can start with the main build too. Neither option is wrong. It's all up to how you want to play the game.
@@Hungryj1111 That is good advice too. Though by the time you hit the immunes in the latter stages on Nightmare difficulty you need it. Also the other abilities of mercs can be very helpful. A2 Merc auras. A1 Merc inner sight and freezing enemies. A5 Mercs have taunt or stun. A3 fire does have enchant and A3 lighting does have static field for those who want to try and make an A3 Merc work.
Use Traderie. It's so easy. You don't even need to list a price, just ask for offers and wait for a couple to come in. You can even see what other paid (with in-game items) recently for the same item.
You are so right about not playing Solo at start of a the ladder THO, in my case at least, none of my friends playing Diablo 2 so is kinda hard to find ppl to play with and sadly randoms arent the best option. So in some cases Solo is the only way to play.

I guess I should have done offline, but when I started play8ng the game I didn't know how the player count affected loot and thought maybe my friends would decide to join me down the road.
annoyingly, fire is the most common immunity (from my exp anyway), yet most are easily killed, the worst is Lightning, if your pure lightning build, act 3 to 5 hell, is a absolute pain imo
I had a question that could possibly be a good video for you. I just recently got the remake and learned about the ladder seasons, and am wondering if you can join them too late, or how to go about catching up with people. You don't need to pay for FG. You can trade your (not needed) own items in the early season and earn a lot of FG. An early shako can be worth more than a late Enigma.
Don't sleep on those low mid tier rune words never used rhyme till this season 2 run cuz of issue with finding raven frost at first had shael eth within a couple quick runs for these ruins....cannot not be frozen is so crucial plus some other useful abilities i highly recommend for cheap budget use
The best starter for Sors is always Fire, because of the +3 Fire Skill staff (Tir-Ral). What i do is start on Fire ball ,but only 10 points on it and not more then 5 points on Fir Bolt. So i open the cold tree and on 30 lvl i start Frozen orb, Cold Mastery. In this way, i do not respec, and i have 2 elements. Frozen orb is maxed out from 30-50 lvl, so nightmare is easy. At Hell, you continue to Fire build and max Fire Ball. So you have Fire Ball on left click and Frozen orb on some key, teleport on right key and voalla ;P
Static + Nova is an incredibly strong start. Not saying yours doesn't work but I don't know about best. lvl 20+ static does some extreme work. You don't even need the nova to be an effective team mate.

There are a lot of ways to "play" the game, but sorry, most of them are "cheat" the game and cheat yourself. Softcore multiplayer is the biggest lie you can tell yourself, just because your own actions output can range from godly to absolute zero. If you're new to the game, you'll finish hell mode without understanding anything from the game.(well, yes, actually that's softcore, you just bang your head to a wall till the wall cracks, just because head won't crack). If you want to actually feel the game, yes, finish game once for story in softcore, then go hardcore, it is the only true challenge of the game. And to come a bit more on the "cheat". You want to know how much can you cheat both game and yourself ? That's easy, just find youtubers going for 1st place 99 on ladder. You'll see that 80% of the leveling is done by others, by creating games, revealing the map (and specially shrines), opening portals for the boosted one, donating gear drops, stacking 7 more useless chars in a game just to get to players 8 XP, etc, etc. So yes, welcome to the wonderful rank system that actually ranks nothing, specially on softcore :) (Ok, it ranks something, it actually ranks time spent, still in an unfair way, as it depends primarily on the amount of help you get, not on your own time and quality of gameplay).
I started my first d2r ladder with a zealer and it was pretty fun, i might be done with ladders too though, but we get sunder charms on single player so we can mess with some new builds.
the best tip ? you bought your computer in 2017 and it was lightning fast at that time ? well I'll let you know it's not good enought to play D2R even with the old graphisms. you just gonna crash every game you join and uninstall this 20 years old game.

@@SweetPhil thanks for the response! Been playing for a bit over a decade but only recently got into looking up UA-cam videos for the game. Yours are pretty good, keep it up!
only solo, only ingame trading.
that's my way. that's the way i enjoy it.
and i'm still quicker than most LUL
So you say don't kill every type of monster, but what about situations like right before the Diablo fight where I was on my fire trap assassin and one of the required mobs to unlock the fight was fire resistant? Luckily enough I was an Assassin and had melee, but what if it was my sorcerer?
Play how you want. Personally I kill everything everywhere.
@@eclipse369. I mean I'm the same way but I'm just saying if something is immune to fire and I'm playing a fire only sorceress, if I need the guy for a quest I'm kind of screwed.
I'm never solo, I have all my skellies and merc!
Nightmare charsi res mf items will help carry you just do that.
Some vendors gloves can help Java attack speed or Malah item or Anya weapons I believe.
Solo self found is definitely still a thing mr!
Don't speed.
Take your time. Enjoy.
Walk, don't run.
Or speed
Or in between
I can’t wait !!! Anyone got a spot in a group ?
what happens to ladder items when the current ladder ends?
Hi Phil. I don't know how to investigate this, but do you get more runes the more you use them? Got a zod today and my play time is only 99 hours single player . As a noob i want to make all the runewords and I cube runes as well.
My mistake was starting with Wind Druid after hearing big content creators talking pre season how good it would be. Surprise: Its not.
only good thing bout ladder is makin some good fg in the early game
Any idea on how to get the game working. Says I have requirements to run it but still get the “failed to initialize graphics device” any advice would be appreciated.
i play solo and i dont have a problem getting a full geared toon in 1-2weeks... all about efficiency =]
Thanks for pointing out the BIG flaws of this game!
I only play HC, Softcore has ZERO fucking danger until you get to the 95+ level range, HC adds the danger that Diablo 1 had.
Most Important Thing: D2JSP and Credit Card LOL
You don't need to pay for FG. You can trade your (not needed) own items in the early season and earn a lot of FG. An early shako can be worth more than a late Enigma.
Do you stream on twitch or here on youtube?
Don't sleep on those low mid tier rune words never used rhyme till this season 2 run cuz of issue with finding raven frost at first had shael eth within a couple quick runs for these ruins....cannot not be frozen is so crucial plus some other useful abilities i highly recommend for cheap budget use
Is discord the only way to connect with other people?
You don't even need the nova to be an effective team mate.
prefer orb/hydra
@@brosephbroheim6428 Sure. But if i start with Nova, i would start with Frozen Orb + Static field and later add Nova in Hell.
Always playing solo and starting as fire assa. op and still broken dmg and perfect for cowruns in hell, just max all fire dmg and death sentry then its easy games
Playing on playstation, there's no in game communication, makes it near impossible to do trades
Why does everyone have to act like not having friends is a mistake 😂😂
What if we have jobs and can’t
ppl are an1 here have exp with D2R and using ZClient pls help me with me problem i when to drag D2 .exe into launcher nothing hapent ,.,,, how to start game ...
So a year later therefore irrelevant. I duel speced my sorceress and she's definitely not good. On the other hand I don't have a bunch of skillers and it probably wouldn't be better to do one at this point and I'm guessing the guide I followed was to beat the game solo on hell. But now that I have I'm having a hard time figuring out what to do with her. I play on console and blizzard kind of sucks but like I said going full lighting won't help me because I'm maxed out with the current gear unless I went energy shield which I might actually do.
Have to disagree with parties. Bots are the friendliest players on bnet.
I don't have any friends who play this game so I've fallen at the first hurdle.
Public games, you’re welcome.
Get into some discords and join up
@@Shwarz88 Public games are mostly worthless from item find view, exp is nice tho. I've played lots of public games, never managed to get a single item. And the moment you go off path people will tell you that's BM.
join a discord group or a D2 community. I joined a d2 community managed by a small youtuber. we have about 100+player which planned to trade only in this discord for S3. No forum no anything. Makes it much more interresting.
reddit, jsp (even if you dislike it, still very nice to meet other d2 players), discord - just some of the many sites where you can find people that are also looking for others to play with =)
The speed runners all use Nova lol
Tip 1 is a bit useless for people who have no friends that still play d2 :/
JSP = people got full bis on day 4. No thank you, boring as fuck and ruined the game for me.
What time is it start?
5pm pst
Thursday
sweet
Need friends that play the game unfortunately I only have one on Xbox that plays and he limited on time.
d2jsp ruins the game
Just pay to win bs but hey we all love d2 soo 🤷
until you realize d2jsp is a game in and of itself
D2jsp was fun during ladder last season i started with o fg n got 6k off trading
Jsp is a big reason this game survived
Since Currency on JSP can be acquired from whatever and transfered over resets it's really lame. Sure if you use it i bet it feels better than not but still so lame to me.
Is D2r even worth playing
Tips for ladder reset:
1. Ignore ladder reset.
2. Apply for a minimum wage job.
3. Spend your paychecks on forum gold at d2jsp
4. Keep doing this until season 4 start.
5. Use your new hoard of wealth to play whatever you want next season.
Casuals will always cry about jsp, truth is there is no other way to trade some items, while some ppl consider Ber expensive other spend 200 HRs in fg or more on 1 item. Also amount of fg you can make early ladder is crazy, jsp pretty much saved d2c and d2r.
I love SSF
I already know I don't want to race the time clock when luck of the drop plays a larger part in success than playing skills, ( longer range strategic and tactical decisions being the playing skills referred to here),.... so no ladder for me give me a permanent character.

HC 4 life
All the starter builds are so boring anymore
I started my first d2r ladder with a zealer and it was pretty fun, i might be done with ladders too though, but we get sunder charms on single player so we can mess with some new builds.
the best tip ?
you bought your computer in 2017 and it was lightning fast at that time ?
well I'll let you know it's not good enought to play D2R even with the old graphisms.
you just gonna crash every game you join and uninstall this 20 years old game.
f of they tack all gear
im high af
I love diablo 2 because no blacks play it
Bump
Start sorc. End of story
Here is my pro tip, wait for Diablo 4 or patch 2.7….lol. 2.6 doesn’t do enough to hold my attention for 1 minute.
i hope 2.7 patch notes were all you couldve dreamed of and more lol
@@CuteSnackElli pffffffffff eff outta here...lol
Softcore is for noobs
Man, Phil has a hardon for the Sorc class. Spends half the video talking about it. Branch out Phillip, don't gotta be like everyone else. Play a different class for once.
Everyone else is like
Phil.
last
He who is last shall be first
100th
Agree with everything but, D2 is a singleplayer game that barely support multiplayer gaming.
best tip. quit using jsp you arent experiancing a real ladder reset...your just playing the same account for 20 years...its dumb
I hate D2R multiplayer 'push'. Just for trades anything else fuck it!
😍

What if you have no one to play with
