Frank certainly did the classic version of this great tune. However, I found his voice a bit short of breath in this version. Still, he's pretty good considering that he's no longer a young fellow.
Frank is the chairman, no disrespect to Jim Croce but Frank is at the time of his showmanship. If you don’t agree there is no sense arguing. Greatest performer in the 20th century
Frank must have loved the song because he wouldn't bother with it if he didn't. It's hard to believe that it was recorded by Jim Croce about 50 years ago. That's mind boggling to me. Rest in peace Frank and Jim.
@@teronuotio6797 Pretty sure that there is no relation. Bernard Herrmann was a famous score composer for motion pictures (especially those directed by Hitchcock) and was born in Europe. Woody Herman was an American big band leader from the 1930's to the 1970's and was popularly known as Woody Herman and His Thundering Herd.
The way the music, franks voice makes the audience dance, it’s incredible, what a concert it was! I can only imagine this is what Trump meant by “make america great again” Masterful singer
Around 1:54, the girl with trench coat and the hat from a few seconds before flashed Mr. Sinatra, that's why they react like that (that's what I've heard)
I think Frank's version was horrendous, but I would probably think that about any version other than Jim's. Croce wrote the song for himself and the song is in his own style and cadence. No one ever should have tried to remake it, much less a crooner.
Yeah in this video Sinatra seems to be struggling. Strange how many commenters are saying how "great" this is. I've been a musician and music lover for nearly 4 decades and this version was actually a hard listen for me. The big issue was, as you mentioned, the cadence. Frank just can't seem to get that timing right.
Attention hog broke into a geriatric hula dance. Frank sometimes liked this kind of thing, but one time he snapped at a guy, "Do I bother you when you're working? Get off the damn stage."
This song requires more than what Sinatra is equipped for. It still sounds good..... but at the same time I feel like this performance exposes Sinatra's lack of vocal diversity. This song was written with soul. It wasn't meant to be sung in Sinatra swing. Sinatra clearly is not attempting to express an appreciation for this song, otherwise he would have attempted to sing it better. Can't always have it your way Frankie. punk ass dance moves too.
SINATRA is certainly missed I loved him so. Thanks for this treat, there's only one Frank. 🙏🙏💝
The fact he was in his 60s and in his post-retirement phase, and still was as cool as ever on stage, its remarkable
He’s 58 here.
Cool has no age limit
LP is actually a warm-up show in Buffalo the night before
He had the Power tô make the audience dance. That was amazing.
This is possibly the greatest cover I've ever heard
Yes
No cover. SINATRA
This is a Jim Croe song! :-) @@claudpiro6469
Well...it IS a cover.

I liked Dean marins cover better.a little bit more swagger I think
Great job Frank, carry on Jim croce. Both are legends.
Sinatra is so calm sometimes and fun and then bang he sings and things get crazy fun 😃😃😃😃😃😃
I adore him…have since I was a little girl. He always brings me so much joy ❤️
I love the improvised swag he does at 1:10...with that little step number. Man he was cool, even at age 60.....
tmwood0410 I fran kf
funny lol
❤
Another great comeback from Frank who never went away🎶🎶
Frank was such a polished and charismatic legend
Agree
It’s hard to think that he’s gone. I hear his music everyday so it feels like he is still very much alive.
So true
He had the old ladies up and dancing. Amazing seeing them all blush over Frank who’s post retirement age here. Had to be about 65 here
Legend, classic and so on.
The Immortal Frank Sinatra.
yup he did it all and he had them all
Beautifull voice Great singer
Never be anyone better

How could you possibly know ?

One of them for sure. Ya gotta love Frank ...
Magnifico, Sensacional, Espetacular Mr. Frank Albert Sinatra
What a great piece of Americana, legendary xx
I remember the hairdos and clothes, I was just a kid but it reminds me of my parents.
Awesome elegant singer , I will always remember . We will always have you in our harts wherever you are

Simply The best .
Umm. THANK YOU SIR FRANCIS. Lost for words... 😔😌💖
I Love Sinatra!
I believe the band at this concert is the great Woody Herman and His Thundering Herd. Can anyone confirm?
You are correct !
confirmed!!
Is he great perhaps in anyway related to the great late Bernard Herman.

The Young Herd of Woody Herman, I believe.
You can see the years roll of him on stage
Sinatra was badder than Leroy Brown
Isn'it worse instead of badder
I am sure that you have made a gramar mistake
All right. Thank you.

Aaaah the 70´s...

man that has so much style and class. I wish artists today were like that. and would not run around naked and whine about something

The Voice!
I wonder what all the commotion was with people standing up, moving around and looking away from the stage?
There was a platinum blonde dancing solo right before the audience reaction, so maybe she flashed the crowd?
@@aimeque1909 Ha ha, maybe 😀
That was a fucking true party.
People say that there will be no one like Sinatra I say not until 10 years

Frank's way of saying I Love You Jim Croce????? I think So
whats all the commotion at 1:42 ?

2020 anyone
Who wrote it first? Jim Croce or Frank?
Croce wrote it and had a hit with it I '73. I believe this Sinatra performance is '74.

Cicely Tyson in attendance....seen at end of clip.

He was a great entertainer, but well by his best in this, sadly.
Frank singing the popular songs of the day is comical. This one is bad, but not as bad as All By Myself by Eric Carmen.
I checked it out. You're right, All By Myself is even worse.

Didn't know it was possible to ruin a Jim Croce song, but leave it to Sinatra to bumble his way through it.

He sounds a rather nasty piece of work to me.
It's meant to be tongue in cheek
