With The French Dispatch in cinemas, I thought I'd take a look at the idiosyncratic ways Wes Anderson creates emotion in his films, often masking it with comedy and other techniques. I use films from throughout his filmography, including The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Rushmore.

I’d love to hear about your personal response to The French Dispatch. I’m a fan of Wes Anderson, and can appreciate even my least favorite of his films, but this really didn’t stick with me. There were things I liked, but as a whole it did feel hollow to me.
It seems to me that Wes anderson's movies are becoming stiffer, resembling more and more dioramas than movies. I think he had a nicer balance of realism, emotions and photography complementing each other in his earlier films.

There is always not enough video essay's about Wes Anderson. I felt shivering down my spine as I rewatched some of those scenes.
Wes Anderson is the only one who can give me sense of beloning. Although in my real life I usually see myself not fitting (work, friends, famili, social interactions) in smth like fantastic mister fox I fill like I can live my life happily amongst the characters.
I've had mister fox as my major role model a few years back. An inner guideline of sorts (somehow similar to figure of father). But I had a big crisis that he didn't help me to cope with. I've become angry on him and rejected him. Now I feel hollow.

I like the old title, "Wes Anderson Doesn't Have Conventional Emotions" is misleading and incorrect imo

The rising intonation at the end of in every phrase is quite distracting. It's like an attempt at some Scottish accent, but without the altered phonemes. The entire time I felt like I'm missing a point, like there's something conceptual going on that I should be aware of.
