    Well done! This is the first video that I have seen that shows the use of the Labyrinth in a structured song and provides tips. I would have purchased one already, but I think that having only one recallable sequence would really frustrate me. I don’t need a lot - even 8 save slots would do. Maybe they will change this in firmware. I’d order it the same day if they did.

      @@gesslr thanks so much for watching!! I wish I could save more patterns as well but thankfully I found that the workflow of always recording your improvisations really works well for then layering in post! It’s a great inspiration machine this one😉 Have an awesome weekend!

      I love these "this is my take on the instrument" videos. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; the musicians share their vision the greater the clarity of our collective vision.
      I actually love the 'short step' sequencers because you can easily pass from 'fast 8 step sequences' into 'low frequency' audio rates; the benefit is mechanical noise, engines, helicopters, and scary sweet spots. This why I love my subH, this Labyrinth is an easy purchase for compositional live tool. Live composition demands understanding of your instrument no different than a Cello, Guitar, or a well trained Voice.

      there are cv outs, so i would take that into a sequencer with an input, like hermod

    If you still have the Subharmonicon I love to see something about how the generative aspects of both devices can be patched together to create even more random patterns.Nice music by the way.

    If you mess up a single note, you can change it! Using the 'bit flip' button, you can switch the step off then on again. This will enter a random note each time, so you can potentially get closer to your goal 🙂

    Great video! Can't wait to get my hands on this thing! Love me some happy accidents. Fantastic jam as well! My favorite things about modular is letting it take me on a ride. Trying to tame these machines has always left me frustrated. Letting them take the lead is definitely the key to success. Nice one!

    Great video and glad you did skip everything already said about it 👌🏻 while focusing on its USP, the sequencer. And yes, it seems to be the real fun part. Same goes for the Subharmonicon, especially when used with other (semi) modular gear. But… I find it hard to justify buying another synth module, mainly because of its creative but also limited sequencer. At this point I’m experimenting with the #Retrokits #RK006 and a bunch of fairly cheap (or even free) #iPad apps to sequence modular gear.

    • @maikvanrossum
      @maikvanrossum 15 днів тому +1

      I’m sorry man… it seems that I’ve jumped to my conclusion a ‘bit’ too fast here. Yes, the RK series is absolutely great to blend an iPad or other (digital) gear into the modular mix, but I also found that I’ve underestimated the mystical powers of a #Labyrinth 😌 Had the opportunity to play with it for a couple of days, and now, a few days later, I really do miss it… 🙄😬

    Great breakdown! Quick question: have seen a few folks asking about the panel and if it is identical to the airbrushed aluminum format of the previous Moog semimodular ecosystem offerings, implying the Labyrinth appears to be made from lesser quality materials. Hoping you are able to confirm. Keep pounding!

    How does it pair with the Oxi? Maybe matriceal for the oscillators and using the sequencer for other stuff than pitch

    • @ErikRed1983
      @ErikRed1983 Місяць тому +1

      I actually posted this question to ChatGPT and it said you can use sequence A or B with the Moog and the other channel with the Oxi. So A could be Moog and B could be the Oxi. I am assuming you get the best benefit of the randomness of the onboard sequencer by splitting A and B up I am fairly sure you could also assign A and B to midi channels and then simply use them on the Oxi (I am also an Oxi lover/enjoyer)

    • @-sierra-8871
      @-sierra-8871 Місяць тому

      @ErikRed1983 thanks! I like the controlled randomness idea but with the oxi, you could A and B in Stochastic and save patterns. Would it be wasting the Labyrinth? I guess the sequencer can be assigned to the filter or something instead

    This (and Spectravox) suffer what I call the "KFC" syndrome. If that is all you have ever had you may well enjoy it and even think it is truly great. Until the day you happen upon Chick-Fil-A. Nowhere near the full potential of either synth can be achieved without a decently spec'd modular rig beside it. Having such a rig one is far better off simply adding a module with the functionality. For those thinking that path would be MUCH more expensive half again the price covers everything here and MUCH more including case/PSU. As clearly demonstrated this does not mean some interesting sounds cannot be had standalone. Nor does it mean one cannot enjoy or even come to love it - again, KFC syndrome...
