Wow! I admire Anderson Cooper. I watched him on CNN. Read his first book about becoming an international reporter. I knew his mom was a Vanderbilt, a wealthy family in the New York City area! (But, I wasn’t interested in inheritance issues about him.) Wasn’t interested in that! These days, he is raising a son, working for CNN and 60 Minutes on CBS and writing books. Wow! An amazing story! Thanks 😊,
Mr. Cooper is a very intelligent man who calls it like he see's it. Everytime he speaks of current events I not only learn something but am also, "what he said" in agreement.
Anderson might not have inherited money - he did, however get an apartment worth quite a few million, antiques, artworks, etc. By no means did he walk away empty handed. Gloria's 3rd son inherited absolutely nothing.
It's easy to imagine children of the very wealthy being spoiled, entitled brats. If I were very wealthy anything I leave for my children would come with strict stipulations regarding they're conduct and further education.
The law of perpetuities prevents you from doing that. No court is going to keep an adult from spending money they are given. Perhaps a trust from which the capital is not allowed to be spent but then see law of perpetuities.
It would make sense..that there is this point of understanding with this. It is not the right one.. You make money to take care of your family.. But if you think you should keep it.. Then that is a selfish way of being.. If you teach your children the value of money then it will be forever ingrained into there way of being..
Yup he had all the connections life was easy peasy for him. Some people are just lucky to be born in a family of wealtH because there's many option to go to all the best school's and just better opportunities from A to Z.
I understand the point of trying to teach your children the value of money and work, and the nedd to work, but to say without hesitating 'I won't leave my children' anything is also terribly strange and I find it disturbing. They are not guilty of having well off or rich parents, and if there is anyone to love and care for is one's children. The thing is one has to bring them up with the proper values, and not as idle rich puppets. Leaving everything to others out of that sentiment and feeling can also be hurtful. If I were rich, I would leave my money also to my children, because I would probably love them more than anything else. There is nothing wrong with that, per se. Quite strange!

Not leaving them anything so that they struggle illustrates just how much the rich don’t know what the struggle is.
I am not surprised about the gayness being big in the family thing. Firstly, it DOES run in the family sometimes. And, when I've seen that photo of baby Gloria held by the lady relative, that he has on the cover, I thought it was 'TONY CURTIS' starring in 'SOME LIKE IT HOT' ! The 30's cloche hat, and mannish face, they might have styled him copying that in '59 when they filmed it! Several family members said the same thing when looking at the photo, which I'd seen before, BTW.
Interesting video and interview. My comment and observation are not to take away his own merit, for I admire Anderson a lot and I am sure he is a great guy.
