I am in Las Vegas and your story and mines are the same. My LLC NEW HOPE FINANCING LLC MADE 1.2 MILLION IN 2006 when the market crash so did my business. I use my personal cash to keep up so when I saw it was going to crash I closed door to save the little I had. All 25 LO...where sad and so was I. I fail so many people but God gave me a different mentality and now with all this I will make my son a millionaire by 2025. Then the conversation turned to business credit and he told me there is no such thing as business credit without a personal guarantee. I asked if he'd heard of D&B and Equifax and he said he had but, continued to argue with me that there is no such thing as business credit without a PG. So I asked where he works? The SBA.

Yes it's better to have business license specially if your industry is required to get a license. For the business name you can change it as long as you update it everywhere: IRS, SOS, Business Bureaus, your business bank and on your credit application. Congruency is the key to building business credit and financing.

That being said it can hurt your chances of getting a business bank account if you have derogatory items reporting to ChexSystems. A business bank account is essential in the business credit building process. So while ChexSystems won't directly prevent you from getting business credit accounts there will be certain types of business financing that you will not be able to get without a business bank account.

You can still update it with IRS and SOS. Here is how to check the NAICS codes to make sure your business isn't being categorized as High Risk or Restricted.
1) Search for your business type at www.naics.com/search/
2) In a separate tab cross reference the NAICS code with their list of High Risk and Restricted codes at r7j8i9x2.rocketcdn.me/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/NAICS-ASSOCIATION-High-Risk-and-Cash-Intensive-NAICS-Codes-List.pdf
This is the easiest way to make sure you are properly classifying your business.

You can check it at naics.com website. They have a list of high risk industries so you can counter check if your business industry is part of it.

Opening business account will require your SSN for verification of your identity or of the business owner as standard to all banks and fintech companies.
Will they try to attach it to your personal?
