- While on holiday to NYC this amazing incident happened in Times Square on 46th and 7th. NYFD and Police were coming from all directions. It was a major incident, a guy was stuck on a window ledge in 46th St. It must have been about midnight and got lucky because I had just come out a restaurant and heard the sirens so as they say Take 1 scene 1, enjoy.
You know shit's going down when Rescue 1 rolls up.
lol thats very true

What I love about NYC is this can be 6 PM 10 PM or 2 AM and the streets are still alive with people, the lights of billboards, stores and life, New York is truly the city that never sleeps and IMO still the greatest city on earth
hey guys I'm a volunteer here in Connecticut. I must give you guys a lot of credit. Being in NY you got your hands full.... hats off to all of you in your squad.
Its always better to bring to much equipment than not enough, thats how people die.
m
Engine
This wasn't an emergency. Those units could have been needed elsewhere.
@@kilobyte8321 it was an emergency, how would he have gotten down?
10:48 That lady just goes "Whooo" and then immediately goes "Sorry" lmao 😂
It's funny fact that the Vidéo is 8 years old XDD
That guy at 3:50 was so sneaky with his picture lol. Great video and quality
Everyone is making comments about how many trucks responded for a simple rescue. guess this just shows how much we care about our fellow citizens. got a problem? stay wherever you live. When you call for help knowing 10 firetrucks are gonna come save you, is an amazing breath of relief
+Roshni Baksh nope just a regular citizen that loves the fact so many people will be rushing to my aid if I was badly hurt
what if somebody needs help somewhere else?
+Jaska Jokunen they have other engines in the area. Some of them are just back up.
i don´t know, where i live, there woul´d prob come 3 Trucks and i thought that has always been overkill (during the time i drove ambulance), but hey you´re not only rescued but also get proper payed healthcare afterwards so i think thats a breath of relief...
Not really... you've missed the point by far...
Totally unecessary.
This was a standard response for a high angle rescue, which is most likely what Dispatch have the run for, you can never expect anything less
Emergenyc👀
As a firefighter for my local volunteer department, I am often asked the question, "Why do so many trucks and firefighters arrive on scene?" It is better to have more than one unit on scene if there is a structure fire, or even a fire alarm at a local supermarket.
But this wasn't even a fire. Definitely seems like overkill for one guy on a window ledge.
try gift thy yui
Very nice done FDNY! Good job! In the beginning the ff in front of E54 ist the man from FDNY Close-up with E23.
To all who say this was overkill - yes it was, however the caller who reported it could have blown it all up, Where I live, a residential fire, 1st alarm brings one each: engine, ladder truck/tower, EMS unit. Commercial (all you see in this vid) first alarm strikes out 2 engines, 2 ladder, 1 officer, 1 EMS unit, this is assuming the unknown (auto alarm, w/o a live call). If this was over one guy, most of the trucks were sent back, with first arriving company taking command of the scene. Better safe than sorry!
+Samuel Ishmael Yeah but for one guy stuck there. It's Midtown there are probably other calls like Medical or Fire and there isn't enough units because they are all in Times Square trying to rescue a guy stuck like a cat on a tree
If I had been the rescued guy I would have been thankful, but very embarrassed that I had caused this huge response.
Nice Catch! One of the best videos I've seen of the FDNY.
Thanks mate, I loved all the bedlam, it looked fantastic for the tourists!
That was a great quality mate,i thought something big happened in the beginning of the video, then i saw the guy who stuck at window ledge.Still it's really a cool thing that they actually response for that in a matter of time
Phew just woke up, I must have nodded off, thats about 2 hours i've been out for. Your video must about due!
Great response capture!
2:01 Rescue 1 in da house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks friend, yes I've had a few nice comments on this one, I was on vacation from Scotland and lucky to be at the right place at the right time I guess.
I love NYC and the FDNY...great video!
Great video mate and fae a fellow Scotsman getting amongst it all lol and getting a response fae the guy in the response car, as bold as brass mate lol. Enjoyed the close ups and walk throughs
Very nice
I was recently in New York City, and one of the areas I walked through was the area in which this video was taken! I didn't go to NYC in June, but I went in December on a bus trip, coming home safely. Although, I didn't see Engine 54 or 4 Truck responding. The apparatus I DID capture on video was Ten Truck, which was the first company on scene at Ground Zero along with Engine 10.
Awesome video! Nice catches
I like your response. That they are just trained to think like that and simply can't help it.
Total respect friend!
@thebbandthemb, man you captured a great video of the FDNY brothers in action. Makes me proud to say I'm currently in school studying to be one of them. Thanks for this awesome video.
Great piece of video anyway Buddy!
Thank you so much for your nice comment. When I heard the sirens I just pressed record and the next thing I knew 16 minutes had passed. Being on holiday It was really exciting stuff to catch all this action, I guess I was at the right place at the right time. Check out the guy in the grey stripped top at 2:27, he talking in Portuguese, because of this I have made friends with a special lady from Brazil, she says the guy is saying GAS LEAK, People have said this is the best FDNY video on UA-cam
It depends how the call comes in, and how the response is set up for the box on what the call type is.
VERY NICE Video of the brothers in action ... Great Job ....
Thank you friend, it's so good to have someone from the FDNY come on and comment. Can you tell me your Station/Depot location I can't find it on Google, thanks.
Best wishes to you from Scotland.
Great video, especially since my favourite 21 Truck gets used. Love how they let you get close up, try doing that here in Scotland and they would be moving you and telling you to stop recording.
WOW great camera! The feel of the video looks like a real movie
Love the night scene in Times Square!
Thanks mate, being a tourist it was a big deal!
Station 10 was second due on 9/11. The miracle house, Engine 1 and Ladder 24, was first due on 9/11 after they were a few blocks away for gas leak reading. That company also had a camera man on board who filmed the only video of the first plane hitting the North Tower.
Amazing Video, great ;)
The FDNY has so many cool rigs.
sure is a lot of fire activity for a guy stuck in a bucket truck, great video!!! NYC rocks...
This is true, i've been there many times and always loved it
Hey GREAT VIDEO!!!
Well said mate!!
Love Engine 54 Ladder and Battalion 9 been to their quarters on 8th Avenue beautiful quarters
GREAT ACTION, NICE SHOTS!
as far as I know it's for visibility reasons, somehow someone has recognized that blue LED lights are very very good, whereas white and red easily blend in with any haed and tail lights in traffic at nighttime. And I think they aren't allowed to have blue lights to the front (which actually would be a really good thing)
That's brilliant friend, I've visited twice and I love it. Can you tell me what area you live because NYC is huge.
Firefighter in Tampa. Can someone explain to me what a squad vs engine company is?
What is the big box on top of the cab?? On the Engine
Curious, what was with that one truck or engine, at around 1:03 with the Life Preserver on the nozzle on the top of it?????
Andrew Silva Manhattan is surrounded by water and Central Park has some large deep ponds. All Engine companies have life preservers Eng 54 is just carrying theirs uniquely. All FDNY trucks have individual touches by the personnel assigned to the units.
Whats the box on top of the engine at 00:47 ? Is it a tool box or something, i've just never noticed it before.
I live across the pond ( jersey city water front ) and it's nice to just take the train or ferry over and spend the day doing nothing but walking around. So far i've spent 15 new years eve in times square, if you ever have the chance at that time of the year it's really fantastic
Thanks mate,You seem to know what your talking about, my question to you is: is the title OK or do I need to change it? thanks.
@thebbandthemb are You brazilian or speak portuguese? Nice vid
All of those fire engines for one guy stuck on a window ledge? WOW!
Thanks for that, I googled Wharton NJ and I know where you at.
Do you know the net is fantastic, I was on a beach in Brazil yesterday when one of my subs told me where she stays.
awesome video :)
Could someone decipher this for me please?
Can someone explain to me why they would need so many units? I know there has to be a reason. I'm not saying there is too much there, I would just like to know why more then one ladder showed up and multiple engines.
Lovely footage! But what's the deal with one single blue light on some FDNY engines? Do you have an idea? I have always wondered... I know most police cars in the US have a combination of blue and red, but only one blue light on fire trucks seems weird ^^
Thanks mate, I've looked at your channel and it seems you know what your talking about. Question to you: is the title OK for the film, or do I need to change it.
It looks good
I love to see these boys roll into town
They have not ALWAYS been with the blue light ... It's a new thing that started a year or so ago ... Squad 18 does have the blue light in the center front, but the last I remember it's not activated ... Just the rear ones are, and the new units (Ferrara Ladders & Rescues) all have the blue on the rear ...
Got it and commented. Pics are good!
What is SQUAD 18 used for?
fantastic
The camera is that Sony compact I was telling you about, the HD pictures are fantastic. Do you hear me at 1:22
Thanks Hilary it's a bit shaky I think.
Thanks for that friend, I had to look up the meaning of buff, I now know what it means. Number 54 is on my video, is that the guys you hang out with. I'm watching Law and Order on telly just now, I'll check out your channel later.
I haven't a clue how to mate, what do you mean "I'll entitle the video NT FDNY ER, I'm lost ???
This one is a people pleaser
The response was like he building exploded or something
Good video. You were lucky to catch this as it unfolded. To the ones making crude coments, How much does your You Tube account mean to you?
Since your an fdny buff, you can probably know the answer to this, on squad 18 with the old style rotating lights I see some blue in them. Have they always been with the blue in them? I always thought when fdny started using blue it was only when they changed to leds.
Lots mate, it was a major response!
very nice !!!!!
Thank you sir....
hey sir good job ny fd is the most busyet
Dorthealyst's Rachel the second
very very nice videos
This was in during the midnight moment in 11:57 happened in 12AM
“Truth from the Ashes”
That was 🔥
@josh p they don't need wheel chokes they're on flat ground the truck wasn going anywhere
Still would like to kmow whats happening
Respect from Munich Firefighter !
All I gotta say to you is right place, right time my friend. 5 stars.
as easy as it is to call them out it is as easy to recall units that they don't need.
The Box holds the water rescue supplies ....
Tower 21 is my fav.!!!
Rescue 1 :)) stay safe my brothers !
better to be prepared than not.. you never know how many man power you need for each incident.
Vazamento de gás?
I thought you'd mention the town, good info though.
Nice!
why so many fire engines responding?
Thanks friend, are you a fireman?
please anyone can explain to me in french what appen ?
+Fred M Quelqu'un a été bloqué. Il avait besoin de secours pour l'aider à descendre.
I would agree with you, What could go wrong? FDNY has standard responses for all sorts of situations. Although you may think what could go wrong the men and women of the FDNY are trained to think and act on the worst case scenarios, however bizzare or improbable they might seem
This was uploaded when my brother was turning 11..
2:59 Hello Mr. Firefighter! ;D
This was a major incident. They took up after 10 minutes.
Traffic in NYC is brutal. Emergency units can barely navigate through which cuts response time
and I am sure someone may have touched on this. but if one ladder fails they have a back up ready to go. instead of having to re dispatch another one and wait
