Great roller. Thanks. Here’s an add on. I got 3” pipe in 2’ length. Cut in half, then cut 4” off other piece and put 2 rubber sleeves just as you described. End result is a roller that adds the ability to lean. No additional cost. It works with one sleeve on the remaining piece. Even more dynamic. Thanks again.
great idea!! i'll try this out. about to start doing this for first time and just between making vs buying. only thing that seems trickier for a self build is to be able to do balls with guards on bottom. i don't know of any curved rails you can buy. THOUGH, if you did a second layer of wood on the bottom, you could cut out a circle and inner circle and glue/nail, etc to the botttom. or a design that is as big as the top piece and just has the middle cut out. to keep a ball from totally flying away from you.
Fat tire bicycle - inner tubes cut to 4"(?) and slide over wood roller to increase contact friction w/board. Harbor freight has 12 in. x 12 in. Self-Adhesive Rubber Safety Mat with Tread Surface for less than $6
How about using a slightly longer piece of pvc and putting caps on the ends? It would hold the rubber sleeves in place and also act as a channel the board the rest in.
I plan on making a super simple version of this in the next month or two. Have you done any other fitness projects? (I, too, couple woodworking with fitness; (and also drums)). Thanks!
I noticed that you recommended 3” pipe. The indo board has a 6.5” roller. Home Depot sells the stuff you bought (pipe and rubber connectors) in 4” which is closer to the 6.5. Any specific reason why you chose 3 over 4?
I did try that... it will work, sort of.... makes for a really easy to use roller. It squishes and doesn't roll much, which could make it easy if you are just. learning.
nice tutorial dude! really helpfull , im thinking of building one on my own. By the way how you made these stripes on the plywood? there are pretty cool!
Hi Man, the boards are BEAUTIFUL? did you built them your own? what type of wood? are they strong enough? Since I want to make my own I would be happy to talk to you about it
The boards are mostly bamboo (I had a leftover box of bamboo flooring I repurposed)... super strong with a bit of flex... I'm usually around 195lbs and the boards are more than strong enough for me. The colored strips of wood are various exotic's I put in just for looks (koa, wenge, purpleheart).

Good idea. For mine I glued on rubber shelf liner. More than you need for $5.
Thanks a lot for the idea! Really could not think of the rubber sealant joints :D great video!!!

Hi. Has anyone trying using firm foam roller for the balance board?
I did try that... it will work, sort of.... makes for a really easy to use roller. It squishes and doesn't roll much, which could make it easy if you are just. learning.
Could you just use a foam roller for it or is it too soft?
Too soft.... correct. it would work for pushups on a balance board... but not standing....
or you can use pool noodles with an inner core of a pvc pipe. (more for beginners)
3/4 inch plywood/ bamboo ?
Actually about 1/2 inch bamboo flooring
Thank you

There is no plywood in these boards. These were made by glueing multiple species of wood together. Each color comes from a different species of wood
