    I'm leveling up to a spherical balance board from my indo-board. Part of my anti-aging program, or at least doing what I can to turn the hands of time back a bit. Balance and flexibility along with some resistance training seem to be the keys for me. Thanks for this introduction and the pointers!

      I gotta start getting more content out! New years resolutions. Ha! Skill board came out with a cylindrical roller if that's new. Other than that it's same old haha

    Great video. How much clear floor space would you say is needed?

      Thank you! The more room the better but probably an area that would ensure you don’t run into anything if you happen to fall completely from the board? So maybe 15sq ft or 5sq meters? But definitely the more room the better. If you’re using a bowling ball rather than the intended inflatable ball then you’d probably want more room

    Hey just wondering, how long did the ball last you? And did you try anything else? Buying new balls from them are a bit pricey because of shipping.

      Rj, actually I'm on that search right now. By skill board ball lasted like... a good year I'd say before it started leaking.
      I use a 16lb bowling ball I got on craigslist/offerup/fb marketplace. It works really well but I'd try a lighter one and the holes sort of get in the way fairly often. Plus I have to wax the board and ball sometimes because the bowling ball isn't super grippy. But it works!
      Si boards have a great ball but they're the priciest ones.
      Cool boards have a cheaper one but are still like $100 USD.
      I was even thinking about buying a 3d printer to print one but that was a huge shot in the dark.
      I have not tried a basketball yet but that might be the best aside from the bowling ball in terms of being cheap and effective.
      Let me know what you find out since we're on the same mission!

      @@HoboDan thank you so much this is very helpful! Just wondering would a medicine ball( like this one Element Fitness Commercial 6lbs Medicine Ball) would be any good? Since it the same size as the large ball 9” dia.

      @@blastnmaster Hm... maybe? I think it comes down to how much it would compress and how long it would last. You can't increase the pressure of a medicine ball the same way you can with a basketball or soccer ball, so it might compress under your weight to the point that it wouldn't be useful. Also, because they aren't really made to hold weight to take a lot of pressure, it might crack the plastic of the ball. But these are just guesses. I wouldn't recommend a medicine ball as a balance board ball but for all I know it could be good? It definitely won't be as solid as a bowling ball though :D

    What are your thoughts on coolboard? Would those be safer?

    • @HoboDan
      @HoboDan  2 роки тому +1

      Oh! Yeah Coolboards are great, too. In terms of safety I think you should always assume you're playing at your own risk.
      However, there are cut-outs in coolboards that prevent you from rolling the sphere beyond the edge of the board itself. I'd say that is overall "safer" but not by much. It's good there's measures to prevent the board form slipping out from under you but if you even had to use the, it'd be pretty abrupt. It's also smaller than a skill board which makes it closer to the ground (so if you fall, you're not falling that far) - all that is to say, yes, coolboards are probably slightly safer within the confines of a unsafe activity :).
      I might actually get one of their spheres... they look so fun!

      @@HoboDan I’m so new to all of this but would it be correct to say that because their balls are smaller that they would be more responsive and fast? I’m just trying to make heads or tails of all of this balance board stuff. You’re skills are impressive btw.

    • @HoboDan
      @HoboDan  2 роки тому

      @@jamessmith4455 You're correct! Smaller rollers/balls require less effort to move, yet they won't move as far (you can only roll them so far before they roll beyond your feet and the board comes out from under you). But yes, you're correct!

      Hey! I got mine from skillboardusa.com as a startup product in 2020. I would recommend there.
