When I did Ecuador with G adventures, I hung out with a group where some of my fellow travellers speak a bit of Spanish. In any event, if you are in a big group they want your business, so I figured they would most probably be a bit more understanding. I am hoping to go back to South America with G adventures in 2019 if all goes well. I am hoping to do the Bolivia to Brazil tour where I get to see 5 to 6 countries in a long tour.
Just come up in my feed! When we went to Peru I also learned some Quechua. Had a very positive result when speaking to locals. They found my Spanish hilarious as we spoke with a Catalan accent!
Oh my goodness Neil, this is such an oldie 🙈 I wanted to remove it but it's been useful for many people so I kept it up. How incredible is Peru though? Fabulous country.
@@hannahgraceoutdoors we loved Peru. A tip you did not give which may be specific to Peru or even Puno not to buy water from street hawkers. They collect used bottles and then refill the bottles from anywhere they can find water . They then use a couple of dots of glue to reseal the top so that it sounds and feels like opening a new bottle. I almost admire the thinking behind the trick.
Lots of great and useful info in this video. Thanks! Also, this video was made before Google translate? Not saying that is a substitute for learning some Spanish, but probably beats carrying around a phrase book
Not before Google translate but I don't think I had a smart phone out there with me. In some places crime was high and it was advised to not carry expensive items on you.
I'm so glad I found your channel I've been dreaming of going to South America for a long time now I'm hoping to go in summer 2018 but I'm not sure of how much everything would cost Can you please make a video on how much it would cost to travel through South America? I'm hoping to go Peru Columbia and Brazil
ayan ali aw I'm pleased you liked it ! I will try and put something together, I'll have to think back to cost... and apologies for the late reply, I hadn't seen this :)
South America has been the top of my bucket list for years! I have been looking into G Adventures tours, but am unsure which to chose! Which tour did you take?? And would you recommend it?!
E Barker for Sure! They were great. I done a 3 month tour, from Quito in Ecuador to Rio. Ultimate South America it was called, or something similar. Included the Inca trail hike too which was awesome. There are shorter trips but I imagine they’re all really good. The 3 month one people came and went who were on the shorter trips.
I had no problems with them but It was reported recently that they didn't treat their porters well during the inca trail hike. I personally had no issues. Intrepid are another good company you could look into.
great video! I especially like how you emphasise the importance of learning the language!! so many people don't bother, but I can't imagine the troubles I would have had travelling Chile and Bolivia alone if I couldn't speak a word of Spanish! it got me out of a lot of trouble! so glad you enjoyed your trip, I loved mine too; I made a video with all the highlights if you fancy giving it a watch :) happy travels!! x
Erin Kate Hannan thank you for the lovely comment! You're so right, learning the language is key, people don't understand how important it is! I will definitely watch your video :) safest of travels to you too xox
In order to take taxis it is important that you speak spanish because no taxi drivers speak english. Or you can show them your destin on your smartphone. Also foreigners are charged doble price for any ride in taxi. Hahaha.
Hi Hannah!!! I am glad you enjoyed your solo traveling time :) I am going to south America for a few months soon, all by myself, and I am a bit nervous! I was wondering what countries you visited and how you found it, as a girl, to travel by yourself, if you have any extra tips etc :) Thankss!!!
Maria Trapiello hey! I’m so sorry, I’m a complete newbie and didn’t see your message. I just checked your channel and saw you went to SA 😊 hope you had an amazing time!
Hey hi im going to south america for a month .. i justd dont kno how to start to get the flight i mean did u buy the flight separates to each country or do u kno a way to buy like package for the countries u wanna go.. any tips on dat thanks
Abraham Sanchez hey! If you want to be flexible buy them separately. I only took one internal flight, others were by coach 😊 Alternatively you could book a package deal where the tour is done for you? Saves stress. Up to you 😊
For the vaccinations, should I get both yellow fever and the hepatitis A and B shots? I'm just curious which ones are required. Regardless, I will get the yellow fever and hepatitis A at least.
Hey :) So for me I believe it was only yellow fever. I did already have my Hep B though as I work in a hospital so I'm not sure if it was just an "advised" or actual requirement... I THINK its just yellow fever as this was the only document I had to carry with me but do check online or with a clinic to be sure x

Hi Hannah, great video. Im planning a few week vacation in Equador, I am kind of a country boy and am not into cities. In your opinion will I be safe hiking around rural Equador by myself? If not ummm, you want to come with? jk But really kind of scared of getting killed or something. ;-)
jason nelson lol! I'd love to go back, Ecuador is beautiful and the scenery is amazing. I did do some hiking and the people were lovely. I'd say you should be fine from my experience! Only places I found not so safe were busy parts of Quito. Countryside was great though. Good luck!
jason nelson i was in Ecuador for one year and to me never happened something bad. of course it depends where you are in Ecuador, but just take care of you and your things and think before you do something :)
I will do that, im getting my passport and paperwork in order. I will be traveling light and mobile, I plan on spending most of my time off the beaten path up in the high elevations but im sure I will check out the regular Tourist stuff. No set schedule, just going to see where the wind takes me for a few weeks.
I was told that all achievements begins with the step to start,I got recommended here also about Austin how he help make hug profit for people I have tired now I have made withdrawal within a short period of time
