Giant gloss black stallion horse, and giant orange egg, created as theatre stage props for the Garsington Opera's performance of Handel's Amadigi, from the 19th June to 24th July 2021.
Carved from polystyrene / styrofoam, and finished in glass fibre, these props had a high end finish, and a larger than life feel for this production.

That horse is stunning!
The horse is so majestic and the egg 🥚 just as unique and perfect
so unique like a collection agency for maring hunt library mail. note the comment. and the mail. and the amount and all aspects of the mailer
Stunning. Absolutely beautiful. Makes me itch a bit to get back to my studio.
The simple but elegance of the horse and the egg….I can’t imagine the feeling one would get while working on such a project. It’s large scale would be daunting, yet so satisfying when the final coats of paint are applied.
Never apologize for the rambling of the voiceover narration. You do such a fine job of explaining the process, and keep the puns down to a minimum.(actually I quite enjoy the puns!)
I always enjoy seeing all your projects. I have recently worked with foam using a small hot wire, and it has changed my creativity! This is due to watching your channel and seeing what can be done in foam! Thanks so much for sharing!
😊 wow
Absolutely OutSTALLION!!!!!!! You guys/gals are the best. Best thing on this platform.
Perfeito
Parabéns pra toda a equipe de artistas.

You guys did really good getting musculature reference pics! I've seen soooo many artists foul up their product because they didn't understand the underlying skeletal and muscular structure of their subject! Jelly legs, floating eyes, shrimpy legs and pin heads are some of the most bothersome things I've seen, but even weird muscle tone can irritate a person. I'm always yelling at the TV when they animate a bird flying backwards. The motion should be similar to swimming, and for some reason, people keep animating what birds do to slow down as they land, like that'll make the bird go faster in normal flight!
Very nice pieces. You guys do excellent work! Very professional.
Glad you've a new video 😊
This horse is absolutely majestic 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Thank you Marie! 😘
👍🏻 Потрясающий конь. У вас золотые руки, удачи вам 👐
Fascinating! Your work is stunning!
"Amadigi" is a magical opera, and this performance is likely rife with the surreal; and themed in black and orange, is my understanding. You all do terrific work. Thanks for all the fun and informative vids. Cheers, Jim from Seattle
Thanks Jim!
Que hermoso arte, un precioso animal 😍 yo quedé enamorada y encantada con esta maravillosa creación 😊🤗❤️

Magnificent! Congrats!!!!!!!!
Amazing work!!
So glad you guys are back :)
Stunning work. 👍👏
It would be nice to see a video showing what all your outstanding artist/workers have been doing during the pandemic when there was so little work at the studio.
We made a video a couple of months ago, showing Sean's wand making project during lockdown. The rest of the video would comprise mostly of Tesco delivery driving, gaming, and generally staying at home 😂
Amazing craftsmanship
Amazing work!
Horsing around in the studio again! A bunch of good eggs you lot!

Waouh.....👍👍!!!!!.
MAGNIFIQUE 💓😉👍.
That horse is not a prop, it’s art.
I agree 100% with you. I would love have one like this but unfortunalely i've no space ( and money 😁) for a piece like this
Thank you very much Rachel 😘 appreciate it, ladies
Why should a prop not be art? Being a Prop is just an objects job description.
Maybe for a roadside fair ride.
@@StefanSte I think the meaning is that the prop is so well done that it could stand alone in an art exhibit with no other purpose and still have plenty of artistic value.
A prop is an extension of a piece of art, but most props lose their meaning and much of their artistic value when viewed on their own and without movement. I mean, no one looks twice at a believable reproduction of an old tube TV set or appreciates the time it takes to make fake fruit look like the real thing. And yet, as set dressing, it now has meaning and gives the characters something to interact with or at least adds to the realism that this really is someone's lived-in home.
These videos are well put together.
Thank you very much indeed Mark. I've let Sean know!
Man some humans can do amazing things

Hahaha! Nice pony puns!😂
Glad you came along for the ride ✌️
Que belleza de caballo que artistas espectaculares
Good luck ❤❤❤❤❤
Good horse
Did you guys apply several layers of a concrete render or was it a car body filler and gel coat on the horse to get rid of the fiber texture. It turned out amazing! Glad you guys are getting some work.
Resins / gel coats and car body fillers. Concrete would have been a nightmare to sound down, and certainly not to the finish we wanted! Thank yooouuu
I come from Indonesia, and I also like fine arts, especially Styrofoam carving, I would be very happy if I could join your team, and participate in every sculpture made from Styrofoam
Muito bonito 👍
Bulbuli garse darun laglo
What is the alternative to insulating paper or are there specific ratios for hardeners and cobalt so as not to corrode the foam body?
What type of materials is that silver you coat in styro finish i need answer please coz i was puzzled
Are you all, (especially Aden) blase as to what becomes of your spectacular creations after their use by date? I hope these props get re-used or passed on to another needy production/event etc. I've had work 'junked' and it smarts, I can tell you. And you seem to get a double whammy what with all the creativity AND THEN all the graft to finish the projects. (multiple resprays of the egg, on the whim of the client?, I ask you!)
I LIKE IT
Очень круто!
13:40 Dude... whatahell ! :D LMAO
dat paard wou ik wel heel graag bij mij ij de tuin😀👍
Fantástico
Wowwww !!!!!
Where can i buy those big Polystyrene foam. Ive been looking everywhere. But cant find them
Mantap kuda ya...kami dri indonesia
Wow! Back to business and we are loving it. (#FissionCreations from India)
Great 👍work, gang! I thought for sure your sister was going to be lowered into the egg ! 🥚 She seems to get all the
"inside jobs" !
I am from Brazil
I'm looking for this type of self-adhesive aluminum that you used on the horse.
Could you tell me the brand and model so I can see if I can find it in Brazil?
WOW! Where can I smaller foam blocks? I want to make my toddler a big flower for her room.
I’ve bought sheets of styrofoam from both Lowe’s and Home Depot. Use standard elmers glue to glue them together, put some weight overnight and then cut/carve like normal.
Another great project and video. Silly question time- since the egg was always going to be mounted on the platform, why was the access hatch not on the bottom? not a big enough area or just did not think of it?
Good question! But the client wanted as little of the egg touching the floor as possible, which meant the floor hole was far too small to get in and work comfortably. If the hole was made big enough for someone to get inside, it would have meant much more of the base of the egg cut off than the client wanted
@@AdenHynesSculptureStudios fair enough, hence the title- silly question.
Where can anyone get foam in this size? Thank you
Hola soy Gerardo...spectacular work friend... I want to make a life-size horse and I am looking for the dimensions sizes or real measurements
