5 Ima Chandani, Rice Pounding Song of Kakching, Traditional music of Manipur.

Here is a song the woman would sing during rice pounding time. It is a conversation between a mother and daughter. The performer is Ima Yehkhom Chandani Leima who was 86 years old at the time of these recordings in Dec. 2014. We did a recording session where Ima remembers some of the songs from her youth. Today many songs are being forgotten and it is only the elder folks of the villages who retain them. Perhaps Ima Chandani is the only person left who remembers this song.
