I'm currently going after Filmic Pro for illegally forcing people who purchased a perpetual license for v5 or v6 to use a new app in the store called Filmic Legacy while keeping the Filmic Pro name for their new Filmic v7 app along with everyone's reviews that are no longer applicable since the new product is no longer filmic pro and just stealing its name.
when you take a video with Log V2 or V3, do you need to add color when editing, or already get a nice color video? what about keeping it natural? There are many professors about Filmic PRO and long videos, but they can't explain an easy way that the dummies can understand. Although I know English OK, still don't understand. I have some knowledge about Filmic Pro, but did not take many videos to compare it, because of my age. I subscribed for a year and have separate the legacy Version, which is OK I think for us, not professionals. Your video is like a good teacher. Thanks
There is a "crosshairs" function as well as a grid on the (android) ProTake app. It's not as good as a reticle but offers an alternative. A bluetooth remote can be useful if you want to film yourself (without that remote app/plug-in).
Thanks for the great video! Does Filmic have the option to A->B zoom or A->B focus? (set a zoom target and then zoom smoothly & automatically from start to that target)
Hi there, Ben. It seems you're referring to what is often called a "focus pull." Yes, Filmic Pro does have that option, and I even have a video on the subject for you. See for yourself here - ua-cam.com/video/7WOD5RVOeQI/v-deo.html. Have fun!
I'm definitely interested in the pro take clog, I would suspect that this is emulating Canon's Color science? but it seems to be only available on 8 bit settings and it also seems to be a Look and perhaps not real log ?
Well, I'm not sure about your first questions, but Protake has stated "it's not only a genuine LOG gamma curve -- we strictly matched your mobile device's color to the industrial standard."
Hi Justin. Thanks. I believe that portrait videos are available. However, only an iPhone 12 or later will have the lidar technology that makes the shallow depth of field most realistic. On an iPhone X, it will look okay but not great. You can see what I mean on this video around 15:55 - ua-cam.com/video/2wY01WPONIU/v-deo.html
@@MobileCinematics Have watched it, it really isn't perfect when you used the iphone 11 pro, but do you know if it is almost the same with the iPhone X, or still a lot worse than the iphone 11 pro? Thanks
@@justinwong7301 I haven't been able to compare how effective the iPhone X is compared to the the 11 Pro when it comes to Protake's portrait mode. So, I'm not sure although I would expect them to be similar. However, there are other methods to get a shallow DOF like filming with your telephoto lens.
I use iphone Video App and BeautyCam for shooting. BeautyCam is especially for mature lady models ;-) After seeing your comparison, I think it’s time to upgrade my APP. I see different comparison between Filmic and Protake. But after review Procam8 video, there is still plenty nice features. Is there any upcoming videos for these 3 comparison? I appreciate your way of making videos. Gorgeous!
Thank you. I plan to make more videos on these and similar applications later next month. If you would like to see something specific or have suggestions, I would love to know. Also, if you have any specific difficulties or problems with filming, please let me know. Others may share your experiences and have similar questions.
Beautycam is not even in the same league as Protake, FiLMiC Pro, McPro24fps, Open Camera etc. These apps are professional grade apps meant to give you full control over your camera so that it operates like a dslr or mirrorless camera. Beautycam is consumer level app for people who want to apply filters and the like.
Is filmic pro doesn’t record in log v2 and 60 FPS or above and protake does? i use iPhone 8+ , i currently use 60fps to slowmo and i need log profile too to color grade. Could you please give your app recommendation for me? My pleasure
With my iPhone 11 Pro, both Filmic Pro and Protake will not allow filming in log at 60fps if in 4K resolution. But, it is available in 1080p. HOWEVER, with my iPhone6S, it will NOT work at those settings. This may be due to the processing power of the phones. So, I cannot be certain how your iPhone8+ will handle the applications. And if you need to film in 4K, then neither of these apps will offer what you want with your phone model.
One is not better than the other. It is a matter of which one has the features and functions that best suit an individual's needs. But Filmic Pro seems to be the one most used.
Hi David. Protake comes with a time lapse option whether you have the free version or subscription. You may like this video: (ua-cam.com/video/nTFC3ugSUJQ/v-deo.html) Also, if you purchase a subscription, you will have the options for 120 & 240 fps which will give you slow motion. However, I honestly don't recall if Protake offers focus pulling, which would a a manual control function only offered with a subscription. I no longer have a subscription with Protake for one particular reason. You can view that here: (ua-cam.com/video/F1eYjJMLHf0/v-deo.html) I hope that helps a bit.
Good question, Elliot. It's a very good app. I believe that I'll have to put together a video dedicated to the Moment app next month. If you have suggestions or requests for that video, please let me know.
Hi Sutha z. I believe that Filmic Pro is probably the one you would prefer. Protake's Audio Bar is barely visible while Filmic Pro's clearly takes up the right side of the screen and allows you to adjust audio via the display. Furthermore, there are more setting options for audio in Filmic Pro.

There could be several reasons. You may want to check for any differences in settings. Specifically, check if bitrate, resolution, and frame rate are the same on each app.
@@yahyaalqaadi9054 I filmed with both apps for 20 seconds. I noticed that if I lowered or increased only Protake's bitrate, a lower bitrate made the file size smaller than the Filmic Pro video and if I had a higher bitrate the file was larger than the Filmic Pro video.
