And Rick, who feels responsible for everyone in the group, is also dealing with their inability to save her. And the fact that it was such a senseless death, makes it even harder. It wasn't Emily Kinney's choice to leave. In fact, she was pretty broken up about it when she learned she was being written off the show. She got pretty emotional when she appeared on The Talking Dead after this episode aired. It was sad to watch. I think if I'd been part of that hospital group, I would have taken Rick up on his offer to leave with them. I know it's a dangerous world out there, but after seeing how far his group would go to protect their own, I would want to be part of that family.
The good old times when the fans were so mad about Beth's death , so they make a petition 'Bring Back Beth" and has collected over 60,000 signatures in only 3 months
Yea I got that ppl get emotional attached to certain characters and don't want them to be killed off, but this world that can happen. For the petition, If they bring back Beth, how can they explain a bullet to the brain and dead? Lol

What do you think killing Tyrese accomplished? *Spoilers* What do you think killing off Glenn accomplished? *Spoilers* What do you think killing off CARL accomplished!? Nothing. That's the answer all it did was make people go, "Oh my gosh I can't believe they did that." So No there is no rule saying you can't kill off characters however it is a really dumb thing to do without good reason. That's how the walking dead writers wrote themselves into a corner they killed off Carl for shock value and then whenever Andrew Lincoln had to leave the show they were like, "Oh Shit!"
I think the reason Beth stabbed dawn in the shoulder was because she wanted dawn to kill her so Noah could go with her group, so she basically sacrificed herself so Noah could go free
Someone may have already explained this but Coda in music terms means the ending of a piece. Beth was the singer in the group, bringing comfort to the group when she sang at differnt points in the show. When she dies, so does the music.
Fun fact: after this episode aired the AMC website posted the picture of Daryl carrying Beth’s body out of the hospital with the tagline RIP Beth. Essentially spoiling the outcome of the episode for all other markets where it had yet to air.
The fact Beth's death was so unexpected really hit me hard. I mean of course it's frustrating because she really owned her place, she was a survivor but as stupid as it is ''accidents'' like this can still happen even in this world.. I gotta say for my own sake I'm even happy she had a quick death like that and didn't have to endure some of the other ... things that happen to other characters. Still hard to let her go though 😪
@@burrichgrrl57 I mean always depends on what you think is weak but let’s just put it that way.. some characters survived as long as they did because of a reason and fuck me I got the series‘ finale spoilered 💀 the internet has no mercy 🥲
This is so painful and tragic. When this was released real-time, they announced the title early, and a lot of fans suspected what would happen. A "Coda" is the end of a piece of music, and Beth has always been tied to music. :(
Beth's death is probably one of the most shocking deaths because you are led to believe they are character building and she's going to be more relevant than just being a side character. In just a few episodes she does have growth and potential. Then this happens 😥
Beth was my favorite character at this time. I just loved her, I also loved her and daryl. Her line always gets to me “you’re gonna miss me so bad when I’m gone daryl Dixon.” Gosh omg 😢when I first watched it was 12/13 I sobbed to my mother she thought I was crazy lol
I'm not going to lie. Killing Beth was likely one of the biggest mistakes they made in this show. It was a turning point, with no return. Definitely one of the stupidest deaths of the entire show. During the time it happened the show was regularly pitted against GOT for 'Shock factor deaths', and I truly believe the showrunner and writers chose to kill Beth because of that. Emily Kinney didn't want to leave, and the poor woman was inconsolable and in tears on her Talking Dead episode following this episode airing.
Tyrese needed to confess to Sasha because the guilt was eating at him on the inside. Beth's death was tragic. I actually like that Dawn clearly didn't mean to kill Beth and you can see it in her reaction, but it still assured the end of Dawn and her tyranical rule. I was sad that the Doctor didn't choose to go, but I get it - because he just felt too safe in what he had to risk the world outside.
Beth's death impacted me so much as a viewer not only because she was my favorite but because she represented the remaining purity and innocence of the group. She represented the people who weren't so badass like michonne or carol but is still able to survive. Even if TWD has ended I'm still heartbroken by her death.
This was one of the saddest episodes for me ever because throughout Season 5 I began to feel like Beth was a bad ass inside and she was gonna break out and be that bad ass for a long time and then boom over just like that I was so pissed that she was killed.
This is the kind of episode that makes you appreciate the character interactions even in the lesser exciting episodes as Still I miss Beth’s character on the show a lot of characters get taken out just as they come in to their own And that was the tragedy of this one She grew confidence had all her friends behind her and then she was gone The episode before Rick told Carl that you always have to be alert as one second and it’s all over.
Beth's death felt senseless for sure. Atleast she risked her life to save Carol. BUT that was the whole point. It proves once again that NO ONE is safe in this world. Keep watching guys. There's more amazing stuff coming and the second half of season 5 is out of this world.
Daryl was right he told Beth you never going to see Maggie again and he was right. When Rick ran over the one guy with the car he did that in the comics but with an RV. The writers also confirmed that once the cop lady died that the hospital group fell so we will never see them again after this.
Doing my rewatch fairly close to you guys, and this episode hit me harder than I remembered. I guess being a little older, and paying attention to all the little nuances made it a great episode for me. Plus that ending…
I don’t know if it’s because this was when I was most invested in the show, but Beth’s death hit me the hardest. I was crying watching this episode when it aired it was crazy. This was such an emotional moment because they had gone through so much to get her back, then she’s just gone. Love the reactions!
This episode was hard on all of us. What a credit to this show that we care so much about these characters. It taught us that there won't always be a happy ending even when it looks like things have gone according to plan.
We cry together. Beth, who at the beginning of the series had suicidal impulses, who learned to lose people in order to try to maintain her strength without collapsing, who proved to be strong and intelligent, Beth and her evolution. We want to have more time with our beloved characters, but a series that deals with dead walkers will have to make room for goodbyes all the time. I still don't get used to it. This episode is yet another excellent piece of work on the show.
@@Rknowles813 i mean s5 before finding what they find later (not gonna spoil) is the shows darkest part, is not all because of Beth, humanity un them started being Lost in S2, but Beth was the purest character at the time, It wasnt like losing a main main character but she was important
I paused your video at 15:07 and left it there for a couple days, there at the moment where Beth is safe, with Rick touching her shoulder, with Daryl reaching out to her. I agree with your initial reaction to Beth's deth; the "why," of it the "waste" of it and most of all the "I'm not ok with this...I'll never accept that." I cannot accept this death because Beth was a strong and layered character whose presence brought something unique to the story. I do not believe her death added something in that same way; I believe it was (mostly) senseless, and played for the pain of it. I believe they had been building up her escape from that place, and that this decision felt un-supported by comparison. I believe there was no story reason for her to die. She hadn't completed her character journey. Her character was not at a point where that would have a good sort of reverberration. I won't ever have a problem with people who see this death as realistic (things happen in this world, Beth meant to get her in the neck, etc), but personally I'll never see it as written well. For me it's "a stupid death." I am also a petite woman, and it just...for a lot of people it felt good to see a petite woman be a survivor in TWD world. Beth Greene is actually the reason that I watch TWD reactions, if you couldnt tell lol. She's my character! P.S. Oh, and thank you for making this reaction- it's affirming for me to see other people being angry about this and/or placing value in Beth.
This is a great death ngl. It was sudden and realistic. The death isn’t glorified at all and that’s what makes it impactful! Years ago watching this series week by week, wasn’t a fan of Beth LOL. Watching it back with you both and I realized she was better than I thought. I’m truly so happy when I see Rob and Trin upload 🥹
It was hard watching yall so happy knowing how crushed yall would be at the end. Beth dying was so hard to process.....I cried so hard the first time I watched this episode...also this is where the show changed for me
Episode 8 is all about midseason ratings! Emily Kinney (Beth) was very upset with having her character killed off! She felt that Beth had so much more to offer! As you continue this journey, you will meet up with many more charcters. Unfortunately, they can't keep them all.
Actress who played Beth actually wanted to keep playing her. Her death was the show runners fault. Emily Kinney even cried in an interview saying she wished she stayed longer.
AMC really dropped the ball in this episode, I think it was like the day after the episode aired they posted a "Rest in Peace Beth" post with Daryl holding her body on their Facebook and Instagram. Also Norman Reedus wanted to play Merle first but Michael Rooker got the role and they liked Normans preformance and they created Daryl as Merles brother to fit him into the show, and funny enough Merle is also a show exclusive
I’ve used termites or cannibals for that Terminus group but personally I usually refer to them as the hunters based on their arc in the comics called Fear The Hunters.

The Goo Goo Cluster is an American candy bar created in 1912 by the Standard Candy Company in Nashville, Tennessee. Considered to be the first combination candy bar. It contains marshmallow, caramel, and roasted peanuts covered in milk chocolate. These things are so good. They even have these with peanut butter.
They made Daryl specifically for Norman after he actually auditioned to play Merle. Merle also wasn't in the comics so they where free to do whatever they wanted with him, and it got down to between Michel Rooker and Norman Reedus. Rooker they felt fit there vision for Merle better, but they loved Norman's audition so much that they didn't wanna pass up casting him for some role in the show, so Daryl was created, and not only did Norman fall in love with the character, but the audience too, so what started out as simply a guest role, turned into the shows second lead character next to Rick himself.
Norman Reedus actually auditioned for Merle (who wasn’t in the comics either). He didn’t fit the Merle role but they liked him so much they created Daryl, and the rest is history :)

And I'm never jaded by how real and human it feels. Love to Emilly here! (Beth) I cry like a baby every time a death happens, and this was a memorable and indeed unacceptable one.
The title of the episode, Coda, is symbolic since it means a concluding passage for a musical piece. Beth would always be the one singing throughout her episodes and, now, this is her conclusion. It’s a great title. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for her death…
This was the ☝️ of the episodes that gets us no matter how many times we seen it & know what’s about to happen! Especially the 1st time we all felt the same way! Sadness anger lots of emotions. Not sure if anyone mentioned but during this ep airing the actress who played Beth she was one of the guests on the Talking Dead along with Kirkman who the show is based on his comics. Anywho she relocated to Georgia to be close to her job only to find out that they are killing her character bc they didn’t tell her in advance… she was actually in tears on the Talking Dead about what happened. In a way they did her dirty & you feel for her on the show and off the show! We all missed Beth ❤ May she RIP! ✌️
Many people down thread have mentioned that Daryl was written specifically for Norman Reedus after what I can only imagine was a kick ass audition but I want to mention too that the original Daryl was written to be much like Merle, racist and a drug user. It was Norman Reedus' interpretation of the character as someone who was embarrassed by his family history rather than embracing it and the wisdom of the writers who took his ideas and ran with them that also deserves credit. Daryl Dixon was born and we all fell in love...well, most of us, lol. Btw, Norman Reedus is quite a cool guy and multi-talented to boot. Actor, photographer, author, artist, film producer.
Fun fact Daryl went to play Merle at first then they thought Daryl was so good they needed to make another character so that's how they made Daryl Murrell's brother

There is an interview with Norman about this episode he speaks about how he lock himself in the bathroom and cried for hours because he wanted to look like devastated and make the audience feel.
I actually appreciate that TWD includes deaths that are pointless and avoidable. That's the reality of human life. It does sometimes end for inane reasons.
Rick wasn’t saying shut up to bob but realized how similar he was to gerreth an was saying shut up to gerreth “ you can’t go back bob” gerreth said that to bob at terminus
Wasn't in the parts of the cold open that you showed, but Rick saying "Can't go back Bob" to Officer Bob is the same thing Gareth said to Bob Stookey in the cold open of 501 at the slaughter trough. Rick saying "shut up" shortly after (per interviews about the ep) is actually Rick realizing he has literally echoed Gareth (and perhaps Gareth's mindless brutality?), and he says "shut up" out of frustration, almost as if to the spectre of Gareth.
This episode makes me cry every time! It was the first episode of the Walking Dead I ever saw, and I cried even without knowing any of the characters - it’s how I knew I had to get into this show! Great reaction guys, I think you felt just about everything we all feel seeing this episode.
Any time I see this episode I think back to when Carol told Rick “you have to come with me” when she saved them at Terminus to show Rick, Carol and Sasha that Judith and Tyreese are still alive. But, Carol knew telling them ahead of time and if something happened to them it would be extra devastating. In this case Michonne told Maggie that Beth was alive and something did happen before they got to her. Just telling even more of how smart and steps ahead Carol is than everyone else.
😭😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Beth's death remains one of the two saddest deaths in TWD history. "I does matter," words that only resonate more deeply now that she's gone.... poor Daryl. It will be seasons before he bounces back from this. Emily Kinney, they did you wrong girl. Cause I know thd reason she left, and it had nothing to do with her singing career, and everything to do with an ever increasingly waring fandom of shippers. Edited for spelling

Lol
The petition should've been, "Stop killing off characters for shock value." It's so idiotic what begins to happen after this episode.
@@pintolerance785 yeah the next death is just plain dumb
@@pintolerance785
There is no rules that characters in any franchise cannot be killed off because of ppl emotional attachments.

you don't understand, when you kill off a character just because it subverts expectations it's usually a bad thing.
What do you think killing Beth accomplished?
What do you think killing Tyrese accomplished?
*Spoilers* What do you think killing off Glenn accomplished?
*Spoilers* What do you think killing off CARL accomplished!?
Nothing. That's the answer all it did was make people go, "Oh my gosh I can't believe they did that."
So No there is no rule saying you can't kill off characters however it is a really dumb thing to do without good reason.
I don't know. If so she almost caused a bloodbath. It could easily devolved into a shooting gallery with multiple deaths on both sides.
Someone may have already explained this but Coda in music terms means the ending of a piece. Beth was the singer in the group, bringing comfort to the group when she sang at differnt points in the show. When she dies, so does the music.
😥
Stupid accidents and bad luck are the things that will get people killed at this point. All the "weak" people are mostly gone by now I would imagine.
@@burrichgrrl57 I mean always depends on what you think is weak but let’s just put it that way.. some characters survived as long as they did because of a reason
and fuck me I got the series‘ finale spoilered 💀 the internet has no mercy 🥲
This episode broke my heart so bad, I cried all week I swear
And Norman Reedus was inconsolable between scenes. He was crying so much Emily had to console him on set.
Yeah, I really liked the doctor. He would have made a good addition and I would have loved to see his character arch!
"You're gonna miss me so bad when I'm gone Daryl Dixon." - Beth 💔
“You’re gna miss so bad when I’m gone Daryl Dixon” 💔
"Your gonna miss me so much when I'm gone, Deryl Dixon. "
Beth. RIP
I was completely shocked when this happened. My heart completely broke. RIP Beth, and poor Maggie. 💔
R.I.P. Beth Greene. You will be missed. 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Beth's death seemed so senseless. WD proving again that everyone is safe, till their not. 🥺
Beths death was so sad. It was so tragic, plus the last time her and maggie saw each other was when Hershel died.
Beth's death felt senseless for sure.
Atleast she risked her life to save Carol.
BUT that was the whole point.
It proves once again that NO ONE is safe in this world.
Keep watching guys.
There's more amazing stuff coming
and the second half of season 5 is out of this world.
I’ll never not tear up looking at Rick’s face so many emotions Andrew Lincoln is fantastic.
Came to say it but you guys said it first 😂😂. “When Darryl cries, we all cry”
Daryl was right he told Beth you never going to see Maggie again and he was right. When Rick ran over the one guy with the car he did that in the comics but with an RV. The writers also confirmed that once the cop lady died that the hospital group fell so we will never see them again after this.
Just woke up....wasn't ready to relive this emotional turmoil
“You’re gonna miss me so bad when I’m gone Daryl Dixon.” And he does. He really does.
IVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS EPISODE REACTION . i cried so hard when beth died
I kind of get Gabriel The first people he meets and they kill so casually even if they were bad He just not used to it yet.
Rabbits foot to give someone luck ,bullet if you need it for yourself, food to eat
After this moment, the show becomes completly diferent, after Beth's death, all the humanity left in the group starts walking by way more quickly
@PC nah It would be until s9's first half of the season
@@Rknowles813 what
@@Rknowles813 i mean s5 before finding what they find later (not gonna spoil) is the shows darkest part, is not all because of Beth, humanity un them started being Lost in S2, but Beth was the purest character at the time, It wasnt like losing a main main character but she was important
@PC The what?! Have we seen the same show? The whole S9 was amazing, S10s second half was slightly worse and s11 was solid
@PC broooo delete that! Rob and Trin are on s5
Beth did told Daryl that he would miss her when she was gone.
Beth was loved by many.
there's photos of Maggie holding Beth after the end that they didn't put in the scene, is so heartbreaking you can search in Google 💔
the fact Rick still offer them to go with him is something so amazing, that's a man you have to respect
I paused your video at 15:07 and left it there for a couple days, there at the moment where Beth is safe, with Rick touching her shoulder, with Daryl reaching out to her.
I agree with your initial reaction to Beth's deth; the "why," of it the "waste" of it and most of all the "I'm not ok with this...I'll never accept that."
I cannot accept this death because Beth was a strong and layered character whose presence brought something unique to the story.
For me it's "a stupid death."
I am also a petite woman, and it just...for a lot of people it felt good to see a petite woman be a survivor in TWD world.
Beth Greene is actually the reason that I watch TWD reactions, if you couldnt tell lol. She's my character!
P.S. Oh, and thank you for making this reaction- it's affirming for me to see other people being angry about this and/or placing value in Beth.
Just when she was coming into her own and realizing her strength. 😢😢 RIP Bethie.
I’ve seen every episode and trust me Beth’s death whenever you think about it is always sad bc u know it just shouldn’t of happen
"Can't go back, Bob."
The saddest thing about Bett is that she never got reunited with Maggie after the prison.
It was hard watching yall so happy knowing how crushed yall would be at the end. Beth dying was so hard to process.....I cried so hard the first time I watched this episode...also this is where the show changed for me
Here ends the Legend of Beth Greene, she was her Father's Daughter.
Episode 8 is all about midseason ratings! Emily Kinney (Beth) was very upset with having her character killed off! She felt that Beth had so much more to offer!
As you continue this journey, you will meet up with many more charcters. Unfortunately, they can't keep them all.
It was so sad for Beth. It was hard on her personally too. She was a guest on Talking Dead and broke down crying.
Actress who played Beth actually wanted to keep playing her. Her death was the show runners fault. Emily Kinney even cried in an interview saying she wished she stayed longer.
The moment that makes me cry every time. Beth is one of my favorite characters and this episode is a gut wrencher
When Daryl cries we all cry😢
I remember being devastated after this episode, I love Beth's character.
Maggie's screaming will always get me, what amazing acting. I say that a lot but I'll never think otherwise
Sunday the final episode of The Walking Dead comes out you guys have to be extra careful for spoilers. The TWD fan base is very good at spoilers and so is AMC actually so be careful. Block any word that could be associated with TWD on any social media platforms.
Yes. Every episode this 11th season got spoiled for me even tho i was very carefull
YES!!! i always watch on mondays, and i stopped watching youtube after sunday nights until i can watch the latest episode. its so hard
yeah i’m trying to just stay off the subreddits and i’ve already unfollowed my twd fact/spoiler accounts on instagram at least for now i actually want to be surprised for once😭
@@Tyler-uz1ci sameeeeee from where i am i have to wait until monday nights to see an ep and yt dosnt stop putting vids from @clashedpr that spoils the heck out of me even if not watching the ep cause the title of the vida😂
You KNOW Morgan is still not right in the mind if he leaves a Goo Goo cluster behind instead of eating it!
@@geniusjohn8280 I know that’s right HAHA 😂
😭 I love Daryl. No hesitation.
Can't wait for you guys to watch the later seasons
By the gods, try a Gogo bar! Old school candy AMAZING! (Bought some a Hobby Lobby..got hooked)
This episode KILLED me and I'm nose diving onto the Walking Dead Final and it's my birthday too..A lot of closure and I'm jealous hat you guys are climbing the later on The Walking Dead! Fresh and new!
This episode I still haven't gotten over and those before it. So after the last ep I'm rewatching it from the begging-for the 100h time! I worship this show!!
In here crying at my desk on my lunch break 😭😭I forgot how much Beth’s death hurt 😓😪
LMAO!!! "Your standards kinda tank, in an apocalypse." So true, so true.
If you guys want another cry watch the The Talking Dead episode of Beth’s actress, she is just so sweet😢
@@deckzone3000 You can find it on you tube, but not the whole episode. You can try putting in the search bar, Emily Kinney on talking dead. She talks about leaving the show. Also, in the same search you will find a video titled, The Walking Dead season 5 behind the scenes, Beth's journey.
Can't believe I cried at Beth even that I've watched this scene ssooooo many times 😭😭😭. She was so innocent
This episode makes me cry every time!
It was the first episode of the Walking Dead I ever saw, and I cried even without knowing any of the characters - it’s how I knew I had to get into this show!
Great reaction guys, I think you felt just about everything we all feel seeing this episode.
When Rob said, "this guy's just a liability." meaning father G! 🤣😜
beth's might've been the hardest hitting, after spending all that time i was sure she'd get out alive
"Goo-Goo Clusters" are an old southern candy that are VERY VERY good. you'll find out in season 6.5 why he's carrying it.
