    I've been doing the farmers carry for about a month now , and I came to the conclusion that it's the best thing anyone can do to improve everything in their condition . I'm lucky to have a hundred yards long driveway , I'm obsessed with it , I'll do it twice a day sometimes , you can't imagine the energy levels you'll achieve if you have never done it . good luck to all.

      @@marcosrua7223 ii mean if u do it only once a day its not really that bad. its more akin to doing 4-6 sets of bicep every day rather than doing 8-12 total sets of bicep twice a week. at the end of the week u have done the same amount of sets to the muscle. as long as ur recovery is good it doesnt really matter that much. mayyyybe resting 1 day in between would make it slightly more productive but the difference is so small it doesnt really matter unless u are like extremely advanced in working out or trying to compete.

    I do 1.0-1.5km walks with 2x30 lbs. kettlebells every other day. Farmer's Carry --> Rack Carry (kettlebells rested on shoulders to rest grip) --> back to Farmer's. It's different than what you're doing; not especially heavy, but I never put them down and so I get a good tension workout and can practice mental discipline (I spend 60% of every walk wanting to put the kettlebells down). The most visually apparent result is in the traps. My calves have become more prominent, as I walk on the balls of my feet (akin to how runners are advised to always land on the front half of foot). With 45ish minutes per week over the last 9 months, I'm pleased with the results.

    • @ROBLIFTS
      @ROBLIFTS  Рік тому +2

      So go back and forth between a regular farmer carry to resting them on your shoulders, in order to never put them down?

    • @azzgunther
      @azzgunther Рік тому +3

      @@ROBLIFTS Exactly that. Once on the verge of dropping them, flip them up onto shoulders, to be rested there somewhat loosely (intent is to rest the grip so only hold them enough to keep them from rolling off shoulders) as I continue walking. This is a good core exercise, as I'm stabilizing a good bit of weight on shoulders while navigating terrain. Keep walking until shoulders and upper arms are about to fail, and gently drop back down to Farmer's Walk. Different muscle groups emphasized, so alternating between these two holds offers recovery from the other.
      So far I haven't been able to go beyond 1.5km. Not sure if it's a mental or physical limitation. Learning my capabilities. I might incorporate your idea of "go heavy" by using heavier kettlebells for slightly shorter distances, work that up, and then drop down to 30 lbs. again and see if I can get 2km.

Even walking without weight wearing the former forces the feet to make unnecessary compensations that may lead to injury.

    UA-cam decided to pull this one up and land it on my feeds. So I also did Farmer Walks/Carries for 10 mins every 20 mins (I'm doing a Pomodoro) for 30 days with kettlebells and leg weights. I'm limited to 10 to 25 lb KBs. I start with the 10 and make my way up to 25. But to make the carries complex, I will rack the KB while I walk and/or hoist it over my head. I also do a cross body swing with the KB whilst walking. It did improve my grip strength.

Pomodoro is a time management technique. you basically work or focus on a task for 25 mins then take a 5 min short break after. you do this for 4 cycles but on the 4th break, you get a longer break period - 15 mins. then repeat all over again. i have adjusted mine to 20 mins of work and 10 mins of short break. the long break stays at 15 mins. In what way did it better your posture? I have rounded shoulders and want to train them back. I have to carry 2 x 19ltr water buckets (19 kilo each) about 100 meters when feeding the chickens :) I try to hold my shoulders back and feel it most on the traps. I wonder how this would be when incorporating hanging from a bar for a total of 5 minutes of which is harder than you think! My first time hanging was 108 seconds.

    • @ROBLIFTS
      @ROBLIFTS  Рік тому

      My bad on the late response, never saw it. I think it helped me push my shoulders back more, since I too tend to have my shoulders forward. So it did it help with posture.
      I think that’s a good weight, maybe try doing laps before actually feeding them lol 😂 do it until it burns, that’s when u know it’s working
      Also, totally agree with hanging. I tried that for a while, my best time was like 100 seconds. It’s REALLY TOUGH

      once you tighten your core as in all lifts and tighten your shoulders to protect them, you'll get accustomed to walking with heavy weight like that. That's one of the ways it'll help you. Plus your legs will have to get stronger to stop wobbling while walking with them

      @Badger Bill definitely have to try it again with heavy heavy weight. But I remember when I did farmers for a mile, even with lightish weight … that was the most torture my forearms ever knew lol

      @Badger Bill I see what you mean. Right now I add it to my chest day. I do chest press, incline and heavy farmers with trap bar. Only those 3 exercises bc I’m TAXED after those lol
      I added a few German Training videos to my watchlist. I’ll check it out 👍🏼

      I had to look up the meaning. So what? If you find it annoying there are many YT channels you can switch to.

    This video is useless. You missed the three most beneficial points of doing this protocol.
    My advice is to do a little more research, read an anatomy and physiology book and do the protocol properly

    The first 1:05 is him repeating "farmer carries for 30 days".
