Right, the need to choose between lesser evils instead of idealized options is the way things work. But it does not come with a waver to one's decision. Tragedies does not end with the tragic choice, but with the consequences of it, ESPECIALLY for those involved.
What did Kissinger lost over the cost of all the people who died because of his tragic choices? Nothing! Died old and fat and free.
When your choice impact the live of other people, you need to pay for its consequences, REGARDLESS of the lack of better choices.
We can't just stop the realistic thinking whenever we want, it needs to go all the way through, or it becomes itself an idealist rethoric

Crimea requires NATO naval operations--we aren't and should not do that until the very end of the crisis.

Excellent content, however, the idea of a non-world governance, but towards world governance is completely naïve or cynical.... I cannot decide.

Mr. Kaplan said that the US policy towards Ukraine is ok. Well let’s see results. Ukraine did not want to negotiate with Russia pushed by US and war started. They lost so far 20% of the territory, 300k killed soldiers, 10 million people let the country, economy 40% down, without money from the west they can not survive few weeks. If this is good policy can you imagine bad?

US intervention in Ukraine, involvement in the coup and exploiting the snipers' massacre in the Maidan protest was CRIMINAL. I'm American and I want to see the perpetrators of that 'revolution' and frame up of Yanukovych prosecuted, including Biden, Obama, Graham, Nuland, Brenban, et al.
