    How do you explore such an immense lake? The star attraction in Crater Lake National Park is the Rim Drive. Encircling the entire lake, this 33-mile road is one of the greatest national park roads in the USA. This drive offers you the chance to see the lake from every possible angle. More than 30 pullouts and numerous trailheads line the road, inviting you to tarry and enjoy this extraordinary landscape and natural scenery.

    My husband sent me a link to your channel featuring The Cherohola Skyway. Which we have been on a few times and always enjoyed the ride. I have been viewing all of your videos for the last few days. Just finished up Crater Lake, awesome! They are very inspiring. We have camped off of our bikes. We don’t cook but looking at your meals makes me want to. I have been riding for 10 years my husband about 25 years. I started out on a Honda Silverwing Scooter, rode almost 80K miles in 41 states. I have been to quite a few of these places in a car and on a bike. In 2019 I bought a 2018 Honda Gold Wing Tour DCT I have over 10K miles on that. Loving your channel. Getting me through a Chicago winter during. The Pandemic. Thanks for all the great videos and stay safe.

    Another great episode.
    My BIL is a retired forest service ranger in that area. He says the clear water and reflection of the sky in the depth of the lake is what gives the lake the deep blue color. It is believed (but not yet geologically proven) that the lake feeds underwater springs that then flows into several downstream rivers. The theory is based on the temperature of the water in Crater Lake compared to the point where the springs enter the rivers.

    Those kinds of landscape photography are to die for, absolutely incredible. Can you imagine those views with a drone? In the US it is not easy to fly a drone in areas like with so many restriction.
    When you go for walks, do you put your helmets in the tour pack?
    With your trailer, I would be worried that someone would come along and steal with a truck or large vehicle being small?
    I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of your camping adventure. Thank you for sharing

    • @TwoWheelsBigLife
      @TwoWheelsBigLife  2 роки тому

      Thanks Allan. Yes, we lock up the helmets and everything else of value on the bikes. As for the trailer, it doesn't have a standard ball hitch, but a heim joint instead so that makes stealing it much harder. So far we've met nothing but awesome people in the last 1 1/2 years on the road so never been too worried about stuff getting stolen.

    Such a beautiful place. Have never made it there... maybe next year.... This geologist confirms your "why the water is so blue" explanation. Add to that, there are no clay bearing soils in the watershed (like we have in the midwest which turns every creek ugly brown after a heavy rain), The lake is actually cleaner than rainwater.. as rain drops pick up small levels of atmospheric dust but that gets filtered out by sand and gravels formed out of the volcanic rock surrounding the lake.

    I was there two years ago during my tour from MN to CA riding my Road King. I could not see much as it was hazy. The views of the burned forest one has to cross to get to the rim were impressive though. I could even feel the heat given off by the trunks - it was early in the morning. Nice memory. 38” to set up...over 2 nites = 19” per night. That’s OK in my book! Love your adventures! 🇨🇦

    The best spots are the less popular ones. just finished 28 day trip to Rushmore from northern cali. So much fun rolling with no reservations seeking twisty roads and small towns. Ride safe Ride free friends.

    Wonderful video, guys. Really nice job capturing this iconic lake. I remember the bumpy road! But why does the HD get all the attention? I kind of like that white bike.

    Got one suggestion, why not trade that blue water jug for a collapsible one that you could store away when empty? I've used a collapsible jug for years and never had any leak problem. They're tough.

      Yes we just may do that soon. The jug that we have now is the we had when we started this journey.
