Thank you for sharing your 3D print upgrades and where you got them. I’m definitely getting the character battle flow trays. Also, I was thinking about making tokens as many of them are black and white and more than a few times we have tried to use a token as a different ability. I was going to make the towels and then paint them different colors so they’re easier to identify like animus and defense tokens.
Such a cool comparison video! I’ve been uncertain about Oathsworn after watching some playthroughs, but those minis look stunning! 🤩 KD:M is one of my favorites, but I’ve been finding the grind lately a little much. Excited to see how Gambler’s Chest changes that.
Just checked - Kingdom Death Monster base game is $420/£330 & Oathsworn Base game is £150 (RRP £230) so less than half price if purchased from a good games store BUT the figures cost an additional £150 so ends up similar price? And then there is the terrain at about £55 - So full set Oathsworn can be more expensive?
If I had the choice right now it would be Oathsworn. For me, the bad luck mechanics of KDM might turn me off a little. I want to feel that if I lost a game I can trace back to exactly what I did wrong rather than chalk it up to a bad dice role. Also, the thought of buying into the KDM system with how difficult and pricey it is to get additional content is also a turn off. It feels like SBG is a better run and more responsive company to commit to. As a painter I am super stoked for Oathsworn because of the large scale of the miniatures. The replayability of Oathsworn might be the only issue. The creators have mentioned they don't really have any plans to create expansions or additional content. Rather the follow up reprint will include mainly add-ons and quality of life products (neoprene mat?). The companion option is great as I can get my young kids to play without feeling overwhelmed.
I'm hoping the second Kickstarter raises so much money that they can consider more story later down the line. Do you think you will get the Armory set for the WYSIWYG weapons?
@@gaminggeek241 i just got it in the mail today and yes I went all in including armory but as a painter the armory could be a bit of a chore to paint up including ensuring a good tone/color match along with the sheer number of bits to paint.
Hello, I saw your tshirt and im wondering if you are living in japan, and my question is, whenver there is an earthquake, how you mantain all those glass stands safe?
I don't live in Japan--I'm in the Midwest of the US where our natural disasters of choice are tornados. If I were dealing with earthquakes, I might consider using plexiglass in place of glass but unsure if that is readily available in Japan. Or instead of glass shelves, having wooden ones. Sorry I can't help much.
I’m on encounter 15 of Oathsworn and getting sad it’s coming to an end. It’s tied with Nemesis for my favorite game of all time now. I have been looking for a longer campaign with even more replay-ability than Oathsworn and that search has led me to KDM. I’ve been watching various reviews and play throughs for about a week now and I think I’m ready to pull the trigger. My friend has an extra copy (but we love across the country from each other) and I’m considering purchasing his core 1.5 game with the 1.6 upgrade kit as well as a ton of expansions. My question is, which expansions are the most influential and game changing? 😊
To be 100% honest, our gaming group bought a bunch of the expansions and have hardly used any of them. The base game has tons of gameplay in it and I suggest going through it a few times first before buying expansions. And you're going to have to do a couple of attempts because the game is that brutal. This is regarding the first version of the game--I haven't played since they delivered the 1.5 update.
@@gaminggeek241thank you! I’m buying the copy off of my friend, and he’s tossing in 5 larger expansions and all 5 series of pinups so I was curious how good the expansions would be that I was already getting, and seeing if I’d get some more. I may pick up the gamblers chest, just because I love building and painting minis and I’m kind of a completionist. Thank you for the reply! I just played KDM on tabletop simulator the last three days and I completely agree with you that both games warrant being owned.
I love kdm asthetically but price of the full game really is throwing me off getting the whole game. Not to mention the "lore" seems so interesting but it seems I can't find much on it. I am just going to stick with painting the pin ups for now until I can save up for the full game.
I think it is because of the lack of agency or control over bad things happening to you by random. Remember Seligman's Theory of Learned Helplessness with shocking those dogs?
kdm is a settlement game, it isnt about a single survivor. You can and will get attached to favourites though which is setting yourself up for a sad moment later on when that survivor eventually meets their fate.
@@1183newman Yes, I learned that the hard way and have now built a protective wall around my heart that keeps me from bonding to my survivors. Like Sandra Bullocks character in Bird Box, I don't give my survivors names I can get attached to. 😅
Those crickets in the background have no chill.
I kept thinking it was not coming from the video
As a KDM owner thinking of backing the second printing of oathsworn this really is the perfect vid! Thanks so much for uploading
Glad it is helpful!
Quality review, thanks for continuing to put out these reviews!

That's a great idea! We always get the reroll and battle flow tokens mixed up.

Anyway to tell us if this is spoiler free?
Edit: Took the chance and watch. No major spoilers.
Yeah, I only show the Broodmother, which is present on the box and most other people's videos. I don't show other bosses.

Box art on oathsworn is awesome
The art overall is really good and fits the theme of dark fantasy.

a brutally hard game you said. Have you tried Darklight?
Darklight: Memento Mori? I actually backed that game but sold it before I got to play it. Do you like it?
what is the irritating sound in the video?
You mean my pet cricket? Or possibly my voice? 😂
I’ve heard this issue of depression from playing KDM from several players. Interesting.

Don’t think this guy really nos what he’s talking about unfortunately
Thx for the vid. I watched it while rocking my son to sleep ;) Do you have an insta account?
No sorry, I have Facebook but only log on about once a month. So I'm not very connected via other social media platforms.
