Back once again with a brand new Touristenfahrten (Public driving) video from the Nurburgring Nordschleife, this time with one of the best saves I have ever filmed on the track (props to the driver!) He lost one of his wheels and still managed to keep it out of the barriers. Apart from that the usual action and crazy drivers going off-road and some epic battles. You will also see my E36 S54B32 a couple of times :) Let me know which car in the video was your favorite in the comments below!

This can also happen running normal wheel bolts torqued at spec. Better run studs.
probably he modified engine power but never replaced rear hubs so bolts/studs went on holyday
Driver didn't torque wrench his lug nuts, or worse, had stupid wheel stud conversion
the norchenlife's crew do safety checks because tsomeone drives i think so idk
1:03 that tesla driver bout to discover he has some sick alloys under them trims when he gets back to the pits
tesla put plastic wheel trims on their cars for better aerodynamics but the alloys under the trims are actually quite nice, similar to the HRE p101's

@@vati702 Tesla's hold up to track abuse really well. I've done numerous lapping days and even time attack in mine and haven't had a single mechanical issue in 90k miles.
Indeed, any Tesla with an aerocap will look 5X better if you remove them, just put them on for road trips, on a daily basis absolutely no point especially at lower speeds.

@@SimonPhillips76 Provided the brake disk and hub etc aren’t too trashed, he could take a wheel bolt off each of the other wheels and limp it back to exit just fine.

A little bit of air is topped off easily, a fallen off wheel is not so easy
A friend of family drove an old Ford pickup until the steering wheel came off while in traffic he started braking and people honked in annoyance until he stuck his hand out the window showing the detached steering wheel.

@@DigitalDissident the Problem ist that Tesla's dual motor or not can't handle ambitious driving on German roads let alone a racetrack in Europe.
I raced a Dual Motor on a German county side road and by the time he stopped at a tragic light next to me his brakes where bright red / smoking.
I was sitting in a 4 Zylinder 1.8 liter Italian car and he lost with his expensive high "performance " Toy

Problem was wrong type of bolts. Radius bolt and 60° wheel.
The tire was like: " I'm quiting, I hate that job!" 😅
Damn. Definitely make sure your wheels are properly torqued before hitting the Ring. Last place you want to be clowning around like that.. Benz wagon made it out of there pretty good, all things considered.
Could be an aftermarket lug nuts... Happens.
It's weird to see things like that happen.
I mean of course there is the possibility that the entire axel that holds the rim broke of ( I have seen that happen at a small race on that track) but if your wheels are coming lose you should notice that way before anything falls of
A shop probably over way torqued them and the bolts sheared…

If you over tighten the bolts to the point of them sheering you don't have a rim left.

The fun in touristenfahrten is a bit gone nowadays ... to many literal race cars on the track. There should be something like under 300hp days or so. Then there would be more variety on the track again. Literal busses and all that shit that used to drive there. But it gotten to dangerous and you will be pushed all the way around by 600hp+ cars.

Most likely he’s got loose wheel nuts and the studs eventually snap under the loads as the wheel moves around. If this is the case the driver should have felt vibrations and weird handling BEFORE it snapped.

Somehow the E55 reminds me of repair shops often using only the air impact instead of hands and a torque wrench.

@@boostedscrapyard I am pretty sure it is. W211 E55 AMG, very nice car, very weak brakes and weak transmission. Otherwise a nice car with awesome sound and incredible torque.

The wheel coming of on the mercedes is bugging me. The first time it passes you see the right wheel making a tone of smoke. Must be rubbing etc, and when the left one comes off, there's literally no indication. If they were loose, surely there would be shaking. I worked on a E63 AMG, and the torque spec was 150nm
