I built one if these from the DIY kit from Thonk and its just a lovely fun thing.Nicely flexible if you look up all the alternate options in the firmware, but absolutely playable and fun even without all those things. Fabulous demo as usual, Señor Melodio.
What an amazing box of wonder. At times it sounds like the evil brother of Doc Scott's Shadow Boxing. Lovely triple DFAM setup too, Elmyra would sound lovely through the Spectravox to carve it, as you would imagine. Ace indeed!
@@nyppy i know, my bad 😄 I did take a look in fact but I think I need to update the firmware, which means opening it up, if I remember correctly. I’ll get on it. Great little synth.
I want to sit this next to the Quadrantid Swarm and Make Noise (0-coast/strega/0-ctrl) combo (edit and the 6 tiers of Moog as well)... oh boy. Thanks for another addition to my wishlist text file :P
Very very different machines although similar goals - It’s been ages since I used Strega as I didn’t get to keep it so might be worth querying reddit etc
@@mylarmelodies Yes so is my DFAM, my 4 TD-3s my 606 and 2 303s.. all of them together take up quite a bit of space ! My dream is to have them all set up at the same time. Though I should have waited to my my TD-3s on sale and used.. but this is on my list no doubt !
@@mylarmelodies Funny you should say that because that is exactly what I did. I have a lot of old gear though, all bought cheap back in the day and the room is an attic so that makes things kind of awkward due to the angled ceiling and low walls. I sold some stuff and later regretted most of it so now I am keeping what I still have but having a hard time organizing it.
I'm just here for the comments. Loving how people with none of their own content weigh in telling one of the best modular channels how to make tutorials! 😂 I had no problems understanding the dialogue, and I'm listening on cheap earbuds whilst indoor training on a bike! I enjoyed the demo and this seems a handy bit of kit for techno or dark ambient/drone. However, I didn't think it was either particularly brutal or particularly ambient. Sorry! Maybe my ears are jaded from watching too many synth UA-cams but it just sounds like any other analogue synth to me, with a bit of drive/wavefolding. Probably needs a shitload of Supermassive in post, that would fix it 😉
Ha thanks and good to be assured it is audible (I made changes to improve that specifically) - as for whether it’s ambient I suppose that’s in the eye of the beholder, but it’s making pads in this! and the brutality is the fact that it’s quite overdriven by default (you can change that setting in the menu) and especially the “bite” section, which I was very careful in how I use in this video as without care it very quickly can take you from a calm sound to something that sounds like it’s being torn apart at 30,000 feet. I found the cards/circuits can help to soften the edges of the effect. But as the end shows if you lean into it, it’s a lark
@@mylarmelodies yeah don't get me wrong, it does sound good. Anything can be ambient with enough fx! Maybe I was expecting a bit more brutality, I have a high bar for extreme sounds 😂
…it took me until just now to realise your name is a reference to tape. Not because I’m unfamiliar with audio tape but just because all the ones I had boasted about their polyester backing 😅 so I associate mylar more with crisp packets!
Thankies m8s. It is tricky to get the balance right but focus here is meant to be the music to be fair!! I should add there are some banging explanations out there if you want more of a tutorial explainer on the synth
Amazing synth! 8:12 instant The Campfire Headphase vibezzz loved it!!!
I would buy this album. Flippin nora what a great demo.
Your sound demos are just really great! Like really really great! Thanks.
thanks m8 🙌

Fabulous demo as usual, Señor Melodio.
That Righteous 90's Autechre reminds me of Massive Attack in the best way possible. Just lovely.
Great Demo of Elmyra.2. makes me want it more now. Sound was Good as it shows of the elmyra. and it certainly speaks.
That sounds great man. And yeah…look at all those moogs! :)
Fantastic demo!! Reminds me of the first demo of yours that I saw, Make Noise 0-coast.
Love the video, this is a great module for big, cinematic sounds, just add reverb...and don't be shy with it.
Really enjoyed this one. Lots of AFX vibes. I don't have a DFAM but I really would like one, and now an Elmyra too :)
That was wicked. You’ve convinced me to buy one.
What an amazing box of wonder.
At times it sounds like the evil brother of Doc Scott's Shadow Boxing.
Lovely triple DFAM setup too, Elmyra would sound lovely through the Spectravox to carve it, as you would imagine.
Ace indeed!
There’s the air of moody black and white subway photos here!
Thanks for your awesome demo. Now I know I need an Elmyra2
Fabulous demo loved every min!!
damn your vids are so gas inducing. this is as much a showcase of them bloody moogs as the elmyra. great stuff :)
Thanks - yeah the Moogz felt like the right spiritual pairing here
Sony wh 1000 xm4, respectable headphones. Maybe have periods of just playing, interspersed with dialogue with the music at a lower volume?
This is just ridiculously cool.
Impressive jams! In your last section, starting around 16:20, what extra FX are you using? As you say, "More reverb."
Thanks!! The UA Golden Reverberator on the Lexicon Hall setting
Great sounds ! Bravo !
If i was a synth creator i'd want my gear to be demoed here.
Most definitely.
I'm here to demo the devil out of good things!!
I bought one of these a couple of months ago but had no idea about some of these features! 😮
No one reads the manual! 😭😁

So im like... thats sweet 6:30 ish. And its 90s auteche. Sooo goood.
Great machine and demo!
I just cant stop watching this. Need to get dinner on...
this man is unstoppable
awesome demos
Very Godspeed you black emperor at the end.

Have a look at @jon_gee for some inspiration, he combines the Elmyra 2 and Strega in the best possible way: www.youtube.com/@jon_gee
A rack of 3 DFAMS????? Heck yeah
Exactly my thought! That's a lot of noice! 😅
And a spectraphone subharmonicon and mother 32 on the side but dfam rules!!
3 DFAMS & NO DJ 🎶
3 DFAMS & NO DJ. We be gettin down with no delay. Synthmaster, Mylar, whatchu got to say? "Modulate parameters all the time!"
@MChristian 👏👏👏
Came back to watch this one again. There’re a lot a early Aphex Twin sounding jams
Thanks for coming back m8. Love that guy!
The sound starting at 12.30 is sick
Yeah its got those 90s Warp vibes ! where can I get the album ?
😬 I need to make time for that
Insanely good
What’re your thoughts on this vs the Strega? Pros and cons of both?
Very very different machines although similar goals - It’s been ages since I used Strega as I didn’t get to keep it so might be worth querying reddit etc
Outstanding!
Before I even finished reading its full name, I wanted it. What is wrong with me?!! Sweeeeet.
Sounds like everything is absolutely alright with you. 😇
The first tones were lovely. I’m not a ferry GASsy person but it certainly peaked my interest.
So how do you like this compared to the Quarantid Swarm you also demoed..?
Excellent job on that one as well, btw.
I just got one somewhat recently. So far I mostly just send kicks through it and use it as a techno kick rumble.
That's a legitimate use for it! 😄👍
Oh dude that second jam ….. VIBE ❤ // edit: All the jams ❤️ // edit2: where can I get these jams?
These demos are creating extreme GAS ! I am running out of space !
at least it’s little and standalone?! 😅

Got to get the saw and hammer out and fashion some kind of battle station they can all fit in at once

Yep. Emotions.
This thing sounds absolutely apocalyptic.
Yay, Thank you Mr Melodies
ooh definite shades of Aphex here... love it.
have one and love mine :)
Oooooo 👀 very tempting
🎉came for Elmyra 2 .stayed for the Jam👍
All the DFAMs 🤯🤯🤯
great now i want 3 dfams.
i need another synth... who knew??
5:17 - getting a Seefeel vibe here - just add shoegaze drums and a whispery/ASMR vocal and you're there....................
Thanks for introducing me to Seefeel. Good stuff!

👀 That is a very strategically placed light you have
Wait what light?!
This seems like what the Lyra should be.
Not my thing ... except it turns out it is. Nice one m8
My god, this was tasty.
gggrrrph! what sounds!
😍
Cool synth but all this did was make me want a DFAM
I’m ok with that
@@mylarmelodies Was by no means a complaint ;)
i dont trust anyone with more than 2 units of the moog semimodulars. let alone an 'on air' light that isnt just a red bulb
That’s a very specific basis for trust harry
@@mylarmelodies I've been hurt before lol
Let's hear it by itself.
Loadsa other demos of that out there!

Can’t hear a word you’re saying…..
What are you monitoring on out of interest?
Your voice can barely be heard here. But thanks anyway
Sorry bout that, in fact I bounced this out with even stronger duckin. But headphone it perhaps for better intelligibility…

Can always turn on captions. Works pretty well and it’s the only way to hear the [Applause]
I’m here for the DFAMs 🎛️
