Hey guys I’m a licensed esthetician of 2 years just wanted to expand on what Kristen was sharing with some things that helped me as we’ll with mastering ingredients, and continuing to learn since we are constantly learning within this industry every single day. I started off by changing up my social media following derms, chemist, and other esthetician’s. Along with watching many UA-cam videos, some of my most recommended people to learn so much about skin from would be doctorly, Dr Dre, Cassandra bankson, mixed makeup, Dr Sam Ellis, Dr Alexis Stephens, and Ofocurse Kristen ♥️ lastly books take advantage of your school text books/ MiLady text books on ingredients and listening to skincare/beauty podcast as we’ll. I know this may seem like a lot for some, but I found in order to really master my craft i had to surround myself constantly with everything that would help elevate me to the next level. Hope this helps out you guys, best of luck to everyone ❤️

I’m currently an esthetician student my school experience isn’t the greatest however I am doing all that I can inside and outside of school to educate myself. It’s an unfortunate situation but it’s my career so I’m going to do all I can hence I’m here watching this video and many others. Majority of the videos are extremely helpful and I’m so glad we have google and UA-camrs like Kristen providing this additional information. My words of encouragement are: make the most of it! This is your career if you are truly hungry for this career utilize all tools and resources to reach your desired success! DO NOT leave your career in the hands of a school or other individual. We got this!

hiiii! I’ve had this video on my ‘watch later list’. and I’m finally getting to it a year later (I’m on maternity leave so I have a little extra free time on me)
I graduated esthetician school back in Jan 2020. Covid hit and of course that affected my state board exams. I officially became a licensed Esti a year later. then shortly after I found out I was pregnant with my third child (she’s 1 1/2), so that was a small set back. fast forward to today, I’ve been working on my own for almost a year, and still feel lost. also, pregnant with my 4th baby. so you can imagine how I can feel, lost/behind on everything. But I find your videos so helpful and I want to thank you for taking your time to share your experiences and knowledge to us that you’ve never met. honestly thank you 💛
(as you may know beauty school is not the best with actually educating us)

Such a great video!! This is such an important thing to note too. Underpromise and overdeliver is HUGE and not just making up stuff.
A question I come across a lot in my treatment room has to do with hyperpigmentation. There is a strong Indian community and I want to do all I can for them. Melasma and sun damage is really difficult to treat in general but working at a franchise location I want to do more for them but I’m limited in the treatment room but have like maybe 2 retail products that could get them started.
Not sure what to do when I reconnect but they won’t buy the home care to could potentially help. How would you address the situation without making them feel bad for their drug store purchases and home remedies that aren’t delivering results (because they need medical grade products to get their desired results)
Sorry for the essay but it’s definitely something I would love some advice in. Thanks for everything and hope you have an amazing week.

Hi! I just came across your page, I work for Kiehl's as a skin pro, I am also in medical school for medical assisting. I am interested more into skincare and have been leaning toward to work with dermatologists. Over all I enjoy learning new things medical. We have a licensed esthetician working with us but they are not very helpful working as a team, so we don't learn from them at all. I find that weird since they went on this journey to learn this trait but isnt much into using their knowledge. I hope that makes sense and plus they mention they don't like to touch people's faces, also weird.. lol

I have a question for you. I am trying to cut down on my skincare routine. I have found over the past couple months for myself that less is more beneficial to my skin & my skin has never looked better. Usually it's just cleanser & SPF everyday for me. However, if I am doing makeup for a special occasion I'll add in eye cream, serum, and moisturizer (but that's not everyday). For the most part I feel like the more stuff I pile onto my face "suffocates" or irritates my skin. It's nice when my skin can breathe. In your professional opinion is eye cream necessary? I was googling it and a lot of sites say no.
"Look, if things are pretty regular when it comes to your eye area (it's not too dry, puffy, dark or creased) and if you’re already using a good serum and facial moisturiser (that doesn't irritate your eyes), then these will do the trick nicely. Because the thing is - an eye cream essentially only hydrates and protects the skin around the eye, which are all the things your trusty serum and cream are doing to the rest of your face"
"Most eye creams do very little other than moisturise the skin's surface and therefore temporarily plump up fine lines and wrinkles due to their hydration effects," Eye cream is a moisturizer in a tiny tube at a higher price."

What are your thoughts on cosmetologists doing esthetician work? I am a licensed cosmo but I’ve found that facials and skin care is a route I want to explore. Your videos are amazing and so helpful, but do you recommend any other courses or literature? I feel like esthetics were breezed through during my cosmetology classes and I want to feel confident that I’m going to be able to be as reputable as someone who went to school specifically for esthetics. As an esthetician and educator, how do you view cosmos who turn to esthetics? Thank you for all the content and wisdom you are giving out!

I am a licensed cosmetologist switching strictly to esthetic services! The best advice I have is break out that text book. study what you need to know about skin, take notes and try to quiz yourself.
Look into in person and online classes/certifications. Lots of companies and websites offer these and you can take them along side estheticians. I’ve done lots of research with the help of the internet and I’ve found a ton of recourses on advancing your knowledge! I have a friend who is also a cosmetologist and now only does spa and she gave me the same advice.
Ingredient courses, product knowledge classes (with whatever skincare company you use) and getting certified to do chemical peels and dermaplaning will make you feel 100x more confident!
