One of the ways to really elevate your left hand is to transcribe bass players. They hold the key to awesome basslines and in this video, Adam deconstructs the iconic intro to the Bill Withers classic, 'Lovely Day'! This song exudes upbeat and uplifting vibes, and mastering this pattern will really take your left-hand skills to the next level!

Fantastic lesson! i always have difficulty with walking bass in jazz. My default solution is to retrieve to big jump and appergios. Your video just gave me so many new ideas!

Another fantastic lesson, Adam, thank you! Also, I have a question re backing track settings. What rhythm settings did you use for the slow and fast versions? I'm pretty new to keyboards and currently experimenting with backing tracks 😊 Lessons on how to develop backing tracks and use keyboard voicings would be awesome ❤ TIA.

Very challenging. Glad you stayed close to the original song. It is going to be fun trying to master this one. Thanks Adam.

Ah the dreaded left-hand. 🤣 Well done Adam. One question: How do you get the LH to play while the RH plays a melody? Splitting the brain is hard!!

Glad you enjoyed! It’s tricky - I guess the key is to slow it right down and take it one bar at a time. It’s a challenge though!

Good idea to look at known basslines for the left hand. I enjoy your videos very much. I do, however, think it would have been more useful, if you only focused on the central rhythmic pattern and then combined it with different chords rather than following the original song exactly,

Well done. Above my level. Would like to see how to make left hand chords more interesting for a simple Christmas song. A method that could apply to other sheets. Say the song only consists of chords C F G E placed with left hand 3 fingers. Right hand plays single notes. This gets repetitive and slightly boring. Is there a method to accomplish this? I do add a quick arpegio to the chord when able to. Sorry about the long email. Enjoy all your lessons. Thank you.

Ok, found your lesson...Why your chords don't sound pro. This may answer my question I rambled on about below. The sheet you showed has limited right hand notes. I can't do vocals so I play left hand chords, basic, and right hand single notes. Trying to spice it up as I learn. Otherwise it gets boring fast. Thanks.
