In this video, Adam will show you how to level up your rhythm on piano, by taking you step-by-step through five different rhythms you can play over the same chord progression.
Rhythm drives everything, however, we can often find ourselves reverting to the same rhythms we always play. This lesson will help you break free from those go-to patterns and you will learn some exciting and varied rhythms that will take your playing to the next level! 🚀

Would love to do a 1-1 and discuss your music journey sometime. Good for both of us. Awesome video
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
I don't like video's on request, but for you I will! You're an amazing teacher!!
This video going to be my building blocks for my music journey after eight years of Play piano without musical sound.
Fantastic
Thanks!
Your lessons are always great.
Thanks! 😃
Have subbed
Great video as usual! Here's another video idea for you: I think it would actually be great if you could create at least 1 (probably more as it's quite a big topic) on usage and applications of chord extensions in pop/rock/R&B...I got inspired from your chord progression in this one.
WHAT I BEEN LOOKIN' FOR - INSPIRATIONAL & MOTIVATING LESSON ....THANKS DAVID!
Thanks!
Love the concept 👍🏽
Thanks!!
Thanks, Adam. Another great video :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
You are the best! Thank you so much! 🙏
You're so welcome!
Rhythm is the reason I’m here. The five levels concept is perfect for me. Please keep doing more.
Will do! Thanks so much! Glad you found it useful!
I tuoi video mi piacciono moltissimo (naturalmente mi sono iscritto e sto mettendo un like a tutti i tuoi lavori) Grazie, maestro.
Please talk about how to improvise chords movement through the rhythm and how play any rhythm
Génial ! très bon prof et super cool ,j'adore " Ba-Ka-Da-Bap "🤣🤣🤣
Thank-you!
I’d love to watch a lesson on playing “superstition”. The funk rhythm is something I struggle with. Great channel..thanks
Great suggestion!
another expensive video
well done!
Cheers Tom!
Hey, can you show us how you learn a new song on piano, what's the process is like, and what steps you take.
Good idea!
Yaay😁😁😁 I finally found someone I believe I can learn from who makes it fun! Thank you for your videos.
You are so welcome!
Priceless content! Thankyou so much! Your push technique is outstandingly effective… funny though 😂
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really great video! You really stimulate us
…with really short intense examples. You really pack so much in and it’s all quite lively for us at home! Well done, Coach!
Thanks so much Brian! So glad you enjoyed!
Another fanstastic lesson!
I discovered your channel randomly some time ago and i've watched all of your video.
Thank you so much for what you're doing. Greetings from Italy🇮🇹
You're very welcome!
Adam, your teaching is so refreshing and has totally inspired me, at 60 years old, to get back to my keyboard! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Please keep putting the videos out there!!!
My pleasure!
This really is gold - thanks so much for sharing - I'm neglecting my classical studies because I'm so excited to work on what you are presenting... and yeah, your channel is really blowing up - but well deserved, you are doing something different!
Thanks so much Tim! Really glad you’re enjoying the videos! Lots more coming up!
Fabulous lessons. Can’t wait to practise. Especially love this one. Keep up the good work. One of the best online lessons channel I have found.
Awesome! Thank you!
I’m just glad I subscribed to this channel and excited to see how it grows exponentially! Keep it up Adam🫡
Welcome aboard!
Someone that responds to the comments by making the videos people would like to see. Awesome. Thanks, man! ✊
P.S (Having watched the video) I was born in the late 60's and Grange Hill was on while I was at school, so your GH reference made me smile! Funny thing is, I went to school in South London but "The Grange Hill" I now call The Hill Street Blues!! 🤣🤣
Really good video, so much value and the free PDF is massively appreciated. Keep up the awesome work Adam, this is inspiring me to get back into keys playing after feeling jaded with both it and my lack of progress, so thanks for that! ☺
So glad you enjoyed the video! I'm glad you got the Grange Hill reference - and very true about Hill Street Blues as well! Thanks for all the support!
@@thekeyscoach Keep up the great work, and thanks! :)
This is great, can you do more rhythm stuff
Another great classy lesson 👍🏻👍🏻👏
Thanks! 😃
I will be a professional pianist one day ,❤😁
This is sick. Pure gold in this video.
Thanks so much Simon! Really appreciate the support! Glad you found it useful!
So refreshing! Thank you Adam! 😂
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hands down the best Piano teacher on the internet!
❤️
Love it! 🔥Each video is packed with immensely useful information about playing the piano. Thank you so much! Greetings from Germany.
Glad you like them!
Hey Adam, making a video today is really easy and there are tons of them on youtube, but your teaching skills are amazing and i love it. This lesson is actually really hard for my level on piano, but i try my best and hope there are a few lessons about slower rhythms also with syncopation in the future. So please keep going on your channel and your sympathetic aura. 😀 Greetings from Austria, Andy
Hi Andy! Thanks so much for your message - really glad you enjoyed the video! Will definitely do a video with some slower rhythms! Lots more content coming over the next few months so keep an eye out! Thanks for the support with the channel!
What a great lesson. Merci beaucoup.
Love it so much❤❤❤
I actually play the accordion, but I apply piano techniques. Your videos are very well produced and the PDFs are greatly appreciated. Because of my vision, sometimes I can't tell what you're doing on the keyboard. The PDFs are essential.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying all the content Alan! And it’s great to hear that the lesson books are useful! Would love to hear some of these ideas on the accordion!! 🪗
Impressive!!
The video is very good, thanks! Just an idea: Could you maybe create a video more on different ballad style rhythm patterns with a melody made up of chords / inversions and melody on top of those? What I mean by that is that you use chords as melody AND play single notes with finger 4/5 on top of the chords too - say you hit a chord on beat 1, then hold it (or at least the chord shell) and use finger 4/5 to play melodies on beats 2,3,4 as an example. Reason is that I still have difficulty with that...Hope I was able to explain it; if not let me know and I'll try to include a video to show you what I mean...
I think I understand what you mean - a video would be helpful though to make sure! You can email me adam@thekeyscoach.com
Can i ask only one question. Why everyone teaching rhythm goes into crazy chords. Why can't you give simple chords Because we came here to learn rhythm so rhythm should be the first priority. Not some new chord progression and im saying this in a beginner perspective because I'm a beginner. Just take this as positive and if you feel something to say, you can and I'll take it positively. Anyways thank you for the tutorial 🎉❤
Good suggestion - will keep that in mind! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Just unsubscribed OTHER channels and made you the main one 🎉😮. 😊
😂 Thanks for the support!
Why does this sound like Kirk Franklin’s Love Theory
😂 just listened to that track! So true! It’s pretty much what I’m doing here! Great spot!
Exactly my thinking🤣
Really love your videos. Had a question referring to a previous video, "Don't Practice Scales" but could apply to any of the lessons. At what point do you recommend that someone move on to the next lesson. In that video would you say it's when you can play the exercise in all keys? Play in all keys at a certain tempo? Or something else? It's helpful to have a guideline for what is a general goal to achieve before moving on to another concept.
Hi! Good question! I wouldn't worry about doing everything in all keys necessarily, that's a lot to take on and I think it's better to get things secure in a couple of keys rather than all 12. Longer term we're looking at developing a course where you can get feedback on your playing as you go through the curriculum in the programme... so this might help you get an idea of what to work on and whether you should move on etc. This is coming further down the line! Thanks so much for your support with the channel!
Getting both hands to be independent of each other make most lessons like this impossible for beginners as myself. Waiting for the day someone solves this issue for beginners with simple lessons.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
A brand new video has just dropped on the channel, which you might find useful! Particular in terms of finger independance!
Example #1 is the best 😅😅😅
Not familiar with 9ths and 11ths, I'll have to skip this.
I would recommend downloading the PDF. Adam does a great job with that additional content and everything is explained in writing with musical notation that is very easy to follow.
