So happy you flew the liberator devil. My grandfather was a bombardier in one during the war and completed 35 missions without loosing a crew member and also was awarded the distinguished flying cross for acts of valor in air.
fantastic story. My grandfather was a partigian here in Italy and he jumped down with a parachute from an american/english plane for a mission in the north of Italy.

I so remember when this game came out. I can't believe it has stood the test of time. I miss other flight sims like Aces of the Pacific, Red Baron, and Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe (Swotl). Great video devil

The VLR Liberator absolutely revolutionised the war in the Atlantic. Great aircraft and looks stunning in the Coastal Command paintscheme you've used.
The U.S.sub that had it's torpedo circle on, then hit it was the U.S.S. Tang. To say we had problems throughout the war with torpedoes would be an understatement.
Devil there's so many modpacks for this game and there's hyperlobby where they fly AMAZING coop missions with like 20+ people and shit, the community is great.
This game/sim brings back a lot of memories
RIP Nigel Howard, (tail gunner) he was a good man. He didn't get drafted he wanted to serve his country, sadly we have to inform his family that the pilot had a grudge against him and meant to kill him during landing to make it look like an accident.
depth carges are usually dropped along the length of the sub marine, detonating beside it, casing it to buckle and implode.

My grandpa was a B24 tail gunner, and he was a sub hunter, then he switched to normal bomber, and got shot down and is still alive today

As a Brit myself I would have to say that was an Australian ascent. And it's fairly posable as many comanwelth pilots were in mainland Britain.
+William Woods - Number 10 Sqn R.A.A.F. flew attached to R.A.F. Coastal Command. However they flew the Short Sunderland, not the B24.
There were quite a few R.A.A.F sqn's serving in England during WWII, mostly with bomber command.
I believe that's lands end airport, I have landed their myself!

great video Devil. funny I was reading about the USS TANG that was hit by its own circular torpedo.
i thought that was a german sub that the torp circled cause the germans had weight shifters to slightly guide the torpedoes and they often malfunctioned and several times they sank their own sub

The Mark 14 torpedo was central to a scandal inside the U.S. Pacific Fleet Submarine Force during World War II. Due to inadequate Depression-era peacetime testing of both the torpedo and its exploder, the defects of both tended to mask each other.
Indeed, much of the blame commonly attached to the Mark 14 correctly belongs to the Mark VI exploder. These defects, in the course of fully twenty months of war, were finally exposed and acknowledged, as torpedo after torpedo either missed by running directly under the target, prematurely exploded, or struck targets with textbook right angle hits (sometimes with an audible clang) and failed to explode
There were also numerous reports of the Mark 14 running erratically and circling back on the firing boat. This is known to have sunk at least one submarine, Tullibee.[39] Likewise, Sargo was almost sunk by a circular. The subsequent Mark 18 torpedo was no better, sinking Tang. The Mark 15 torpedo had collars to prevent circular runs, but the Mark 14 was never given this feature.
The USS Tullibee was sunk by her own torpedo on March 26th, 1944. C.W. Kuykendall was on the bridge at the time and was thrown into the water. The USS Tang was sunk by her own torpedo on October 24th, 1944. 78 crew members perished and the nine survivors were captured by the Japanese.

Devildog deph charges are more effective if you hit them in the center of the sub

+SplinterOscar The U.S. Mk 14 torpedoes had about a 20% success rate. that is hit, and detonation. and the torpedo rudders locked and it spun, and slowed down, and got tighter and tighter until it hit.

One of my relives flew a b-24 during Operation Tidal wave and found MIA (now KIA) when he tried to fly the badly damaged B-24 back to Libya with a wounded guy while the rest of the crew bailout
+USSChicago1943 I love the B-24, one of my favorite WWII planes. But I can't imagine trying to fly a damaged one, seeing as one in perfect condition was near impossible. They named it the Flying Boxcar for a reason. Props to anyone who had the balls of steel to try, though.
It could be a B-24 lent the to Brits on a the lend least program during the 1930s and 40s. I think it's a Lancaster Bomber though, because of the British Royal Air Force markings also the bomb bay doors are slots opposed to full open bay doors.

Shame that wasn't one of the Liberators they modified for ASW with two or four 20mm for the pilot to strafe with. Any chance those torpedoes you were using may have been the US made 'Fido' acoustic torpedoes? They were dropped with a small parachute, and ran ina circle until they detected the sub's props running, them.
