If you want to make a Dana 50 heavy duty dead center front diff modify an old Ford 4x4 Twin Traction Beam Differential. The old Ford Front differentials from a twin Traction beam suspensions used from 1983 to 1997. I used a Dana 50 TTB dead center on the front end in the car in the video. The main thing I had to do to locate it dead center between the front tires was make a speedy sleeve for the drivers side seal location. The speedy sleeve allowed the drivers side to accept a bearing, a seal and a yoke similar to the passengers side. The spline on the Dana 50 TTB and the Dana 44 TTB differentials inner yoke stubs are both 30 splines 1.29" OD. On the front end I am running I was initially running Cardan type U-Joints against the ford TTB differential and Chevy 4x4 1500 CVs at the outer front hubs. It worked for the prototype but I got a slight vibration. It is typically NOT a good idea to mix cardan U-joints mixed with the CV joints they typically do not work well together at an angle. I was going back and making custom inner stubs for the front Dana 50 that I can match up to Porche 930 CVs. Also note that works but the CVs need to be rotated clocked correctly so the boot on the Chevy CV has to get pulled back to see how it is oriented. ua-cam.com/video/mQO6Fe8gwWw/v-deo.html
@@chadliggett286 Still running the OEM cardan joints against the diff and Chev 1500 4x4 outer steer CV joints against the hubs. Wasn't planning on making a video. I was hoping somebody would chime in at some other sites and let me know if there were existing OEM stubs out there that could be used. I can cut the exiting stubs and do some welding to put some metal that I can machine down on the lathe but if something is out there that is a lot less work.
@@RG-gk4yi correct it was just to hold it so he could get accurate cuts, I also thought this was odd at first until I realized what he was doing. He wouldn't need nor want a strong weld here as you clearly see a few min later that the parts were separated.
He would of still had to deal with sealing it right, as soon as he cut into it he would have to seal it up one way or another. I don't see why so many people are being negative with this I think it was a very creative solution to get independent suspension and in many countries like his I assume they don't have the access to parts that say people in America do so they have to make due with what they have and come up with creative solutions as he has. I think it was very informative and neat to watch thank you for sharing.
Why is nowhere in the description or answered anywhere of what kinda differential this is? I'd like to build 4x4 side sides for farm use but haven't found a good diff to use , or cheap and readily available.
Хоть бы сначала научились понимать, что такое механические узлы и что для чего служит и как работает........ ТАкое чувство что главное заливать видосы на просмотры, но похрен как и что там делается.....
No you all are wrong! You have no bases to believe this would brake in a day, the weak point being the new splines and he cut rather deep and think splines so while possibly not as strong as originally I have confidence it will NOT fail in a day!
ive been machining 20years plus. ive never seen splines cut with a grinder. with his tools and equipment this is amazing

Do you have a video on that Porsche half shafts conversion!

Some wicked cutting tools on that lathe haha
The tool post on the lathe is a beast, looks crashworthy.
_very good! very clever! only complaint is that the bearing was not packed with grease._
Really very beautiful my friend deserves all thanks and appreciation for this effort Greetings to you keep in touch
Your methods seem strange to me, but I cannot knock them because your results very impressive
Congrats for your incredible job with all... Good luck and be successful in your life. Brazil 🇧🇷 2020
3:41 unreal grinder work! Definitely has some skill!
Skill???
That's pretty cool that you're using some of the parts you already restored on your other channel! 🧔👍💯
This guy is a good engineer.
The only thing I would change would be to put flanges on the output shafts to make changing a broken shaft easier.
Nice and great job, thanks for sharing your thoughts and great videos
I like the part where he cut a decent set of splines with an angle grinder.
I also want something like that
That axle is as strong as that weld on that jacked up shaft that was welded. Wooooow. Lol
That might have been just to hold it while he cut the splines.

thanks for the your video
Really awesome ❤️
Add some car restoration video
Good luck bro
Cool
What type of differential is this and how to get it. Thanks
Was that just made out if all water pipe fittings ? if so !!! WOW !!! THATS SOME SERIOUS THINKING GOING ON
awesome video a fan from Saudiarabia 🇸🇦
Nicely done
,👍👍👍👍👍
Excelente, para un Bugi va como trompada.
That is a good idea!

Una pregunta ese eje de diferencia de que carro es perdón mi ignorancia
Question is does it work and hold up..... ?
Super
nice Job
meus parabéns muito sucesso sou mais um inscrito estamos juntos um ajudando o outro que Deus abençoe
Awesome man
Wow.
De qual carro é esse diferencial?
what kind of diff did you start off with
That's my question too
Very helpfull

Bro can you make a chain drive differiential
It’s not hard mount the engine sideways and put a sprocket on the drive shaft easy awd to
@@mariotaylor9990 goes the same for car's engine. just use both half shafts as outputs for front and rear diff/axle ;)
Man you made me nervous with the chuck to the angle of the tool holder.
Could have just shorten the axle tubes and existing axles then use the GM CV axle with the flange set up,

Oi bom dia...
So there's no DANA in India ????😎😎
Solid steering front axle would have been million times cooler than a differential ONLY...
HEY BUD, ANYWAY YOU COULD TELL ME WHAT THAT AXLE CAME OUT OF?
Diparansal aeksale mona wahaneda kiyanna puluwanda
lot easier to take one from an s 10 or Subaru pretty much the same
I've never seen a grinder running in reverse...
Where i get
How much would you charge to build me one sir. Can pay cash app/paypale??? Im serious about this inquiry.
Hope they don't use any more than 10 hp on it

I was kinda thinking the same at first, but I've seen some crazy shit last far longer than it had any right to, so who knows??? :D
