thank you for gifting us with this- it really helped with my english work- i dont have the attention span to read it- so i gift you a treat *gives a pie*
This is an amzing story, i could feel the fear and darkness creeping in around me . That was a very contagious but horrific feeling embedded in this story.
I have this story in an anthology collection and it's one of my favorites Really enjoyed your rendition of it. Your voice adds true feeling in your readings. Thank you HorrorBabble!
I haven't read this story since i had it in an anthology that i bought at the Scholastic Book Fair when I was 7. Inescapable terror in the dark. Wonderful.
Well done. I've not been too familiar with H.G. other than the Time Machine. He did a good job of building tension and that makes a good ghost story. Thank you.
Wow, that was really fantastic. Beautifully written, thanks for taking me somewhere new for a little while. As someone who's starting there own Audiobook channel was fantastic to listen to what people like to hear. Will be back soon for another listen, thanks!
Great as always Ian ! Kinda reminds me of a weird day when we were installing better HVAC in a mansion in NJ, lights kept going out, sockets failing randomly and odd sounds, very dark weather day too, very creepy which made me see it as amusement, took longer but I got my stuff done but 3 other trade guys had already left due to sounds and etc, some ppl can handle spooky old homes and some can't, even when there's an obvious ghost like a rocking chair w no reason for it to move, I just addressed whoever, explained what I was doing, how HVAC works and that we're improving the house's comfort, most of the time ghosts seem cool with it, respect and protocol goes a long way w the occupants, alive or not. Northern NJ has a lotta history so lotta ghosts, such is life, makes it interesting.
Another Brilliant Performance Ian 👍🏻. Never heard of this story, You Portrayed the Sense of Claustrophobic Fear Perfectly. Truly Creepy! Loved It 👍🏻🤘🏻👍🏻😈. Thank You HorrorBabble! 😈💜😈
possibly a freaky friday coincidence but fridays flog it was based in woking, complete with a tribute to wells. woking was hg wells home from 1895-1896. it was also the first place the martians invaded and destroyed in the original serialisation and later book.guess he didn't like it much.
As for other HG Wells stories, HorrorBabble has not done "The Sea Raiders" yet; which is good critter horror. "The Strange Orchid" is also good, though with an element of humor that undercuts any horror.
More gold and great new material. I just now received my signal, so there is much to catch up upon. Thank you Ian and Jen, your voices comfort me in difficult times. I will listen with so much joy 🙏🏽❤️🎩👑

He was so afraid he uttered future slang
"What's up?!"
It was such an odd thing to say that I had trouble recording it!
proof that h g wells could see into the future!
I love your renditions Ian. The Wendigo and The Willows will always be my favorites, but it seems that everything your voice touches turns to gold.

His Algernon Blackwood stories are my favorite too.

I don't know why, but reading this reminded me of the movie, Session 9. Thanks for sharing, Doc!
And just like that, Doc Brown escaped Simon, he who lives in the weak and the wounded.
Very beautiful chapter

I would like to suggest Sandkings by G.R.R Martin, if possible.
Thank you for the high quality, ad free content.
Thanks Vincent, but his works aren’t in the public domain.
