Maybe an companion will help in my opinion, this only happens to me when I put her to sleep or wake up but she’s quiet most of the time because she has her best little buddy next to her, so she doesn’t feel alone or afraid to be by herself lol
I have had 2 sun conures my first one stimpy died of cancer he was 20. My second one ren is 6. Both are a joy and ren living life and are affectionate. He loves when we come home from work. Very informative video.
My 15 year old female Sun Conure is the most serious of birds. She like's showers, being in my shirt and being in her big outside deck cage in the summer but that's about it.
I had a NanSun for several years Sunny loved to dance. He could talk but you had to pronounce words as he was learning them. His favorite word was "What" but he didn't pronounce the "T" at the end. I ended up emphasizing the "T" at the end of the word. He eventually understood and if I did not pronoucd the "T" at the end he would come from wherever he was and climb up to tel me how to pronouce it. He would do this with just about anyone if they said what and didn't pronounce the "T" at the end. His favorite game at night after the lights were out was to growl. Who could growl the longest. He came up with that on his own. I would growl back and he would wait until I was done and he would try to out growl me. We went back and forth often before going to sleep. I am now geting a pure Sun Conure and I think Sunny helped prepare me for one. Thanks for the video. OH, sunny loved boxes. I would make boxes with various levels for him and cut holes all over for him to stick his head through. We woud play and he would go all through the box as if I had to find him. They are great girds.
I really want to get a sun conure, but I’m too young!! So for now, I’m investing a lot of time into research and figuring out if it’s the right decision.
Got my baby this weekend he or she is 4 mo old. He had his w8ngs clipped im gonna let them grow out. Hes very tame and gets chirpy when i put into bed lol. Hes like i do t wanna sleep alone. I see we have he same cage great vids.
a tip to people who want a sun conure!! buy a tamed pet as they will probably be hand reared like this one in video so you can handle them straight out of box. if you buy a aviary bird it will take u maybe 1-2 years to get it to this level but remember you need to spend alot of time with it and also depends on the nature of the bird. and sun conure will NOT live around 25 years unless you feed them a balanced diet of fruits and seed. normally they live around 5-12 years just on nuts and seed. and finally if you want to get a another bird to accompany the sun dont get the same species as they will start ignoring you if you want a tamed bird. this is good if you work long hours as they will play with the other one. finally they are LOUD SCREAMERS!. i can hear my ones from outside my house and this may be bad for neighbours.
To all those people wanting to get a bird (Please do research before owning ABY type of animal. There is no such thing as a "starter animal" or a "beginners pet" This applies for all types of birds If you are in school/work consider these things - Are you not gonna be around it for more than 8 hours? If yes then don't get one unless you get two or provide them with A LOT of toys or activities and people who can keep them company to keep them "social" If no and you will be home all the time after school/work hours then getting one is fine and toys can be moderate. Some in cages and some outside. Since you are around the bird you can keep it company and socialize with it. This way the bird will be happy and socialized so that it will not attack strangers or run from strangers (as in guests or friends) - Are you able to keep up with the birds costs? If no then don't try to even get one. Birds are costly and their vet bills are also expensive. Not to mention their cages, toys and food. Everything about owning a bird costs more than hundreds. Maybe you are able to moderately get everything but unless you can give them a proper life, don't get a bird. If yes then go ahead. When you first get the bird, get a checkup to ensure that they have no disease or problem. Provide lots of toys for enrichment. A cage bigger than their wingspan and proper foods such as pellets, seeds and fruits. Lastly, can you commit? Birds are a lifetime commitment. They bigger they are the longer they'll live. Are you gonna care for it for years to come? If no then please don't get one. There are so many birds up for adoption because people lose interest in them. Please don't buy on impulse because you think they are cute. When you get a pet, you do not own it. It owns you ;)
This is very helpful, thank you! Lots of people buy large macaws or cockatoos and can’t care for them, it’s sad :( I can’t wait to get my sun conure! I’m still deciding between a sun conure and a green cheek. It’s like deciding between loosing your hearing or getting your fingers constantly bitten! Lol 😂Any tips?
He’s awesome! Mine not a baby like I was promised but instead a year n half old caged when I got him so it’s going to be a process until I can even hold him. That being said, he’s smart and anxious to learn and I look forward to being able to interact w mine as well as you do and thanks for the vid!
I’m ten and I’m waiting to get a sun conure at the end of the year I will have one and my dad said I could get one if I can pay for it so far I’m half way and at the end of the year I will have enough
Yeahitscat thats not a good idea, i you can barely afford the bird, then you cant afford the equipment to keep it healthy plus when you at school, they can get depressed
Nice video, my first baby lovebirds are 18 and 19 respectfully and still have too much energy. I've been thinking of setting up for a Conure your video helped me make my decision.
I want one so bad rn My family got chickens and I had a little chick on me so I decided it was a parrot and but it in my arm. This then somehow reminded me of jaiden animations and made me want a conure
sorry to be THAT guy. But 2 things to note. 1, those happy huts are death traps and are pointless. 2, having that fun on with him out is playing with fire. If he were to fly into that it could instantly kill him
TheTriggerFingers I appreciate the concern but we're very conscious of potential safety issues for our bird. We don't keep anything with loose threads or anything that could be swallowed in his cage. We also keep his wings clipped, so when he tries to fly he can't do anything but flap to the floor.
* If anyone has birds, they need to get rid of non-stick teflon cookware and ceiling fans. As we all find out the hard way sometimes, when we least expect it, clipped wings doesn't always mean they cannot fly!
You cannot fully bird proof any home so train your bird, do your research and don’t listen to trolls online. She’s had her bird 9 yrs. I think she knows what she’s doing....;)
I gasped when I saw the ceiling fan. I agree that the fan should not be on when the sun conure is outside the cage. No matter how careful you are even with wings clipped this is risky. My friend’s sun conure was injured by a ceiling fan. I have had my sun conure for 15 yrs and my rescued sun conure for 10 years and she is almost 18. Personally I wouldn’t have a ceiling fan on in my home.
@@user-qp3pu5yv1e I agree! You cannot fully bird-proof a house, but you must try your best to. And train your bird to not go to or touch things that might be dangerous. I've had over 13 years of experience with birds and one thing I've learned is, disaster strikes when you least expect it. Coward man's right! These are hazardous things that I noticed as well. And even if you've had your bird for a long time, there's still plenty to learn! That's why I enjoy birds so much, you'll learn something new every day! That happy hut is not a good idea, and neither is keeping the fan on, plz do take our advice.
Mine used to bite me until I removed the cozy tent from its cage. Birds don’t need a nest if not for breeding. Try it for a few weeks and see how it improves your birds life and your bites😂
Appreciate your concern but he actually had been recently clipped. They had left the outer primary feather on each wing but the inner primaries were all clipped so he wasn't in danger :)
@@RedSoxChic193 thanks so much..... Mine in 3 yrs old Scooby, He is fully flighted so we turn off the fan before getting him out.... Although he's not a very good flyer, he's is rather clumsy and goofy.
@@RedSoxChic193 they are all the same, mine is a late rise, super hungry always, ready to try new foods, pretty obidient, does not scream as I thought he would while researching this species. Answers to door bell along with my dog, cuddle bug, super velcro.... Hes more of a dog than a parrot.
Hi! Thank you for your video! My husband and I want to get a bird. We have always had parakeets but now we are looking into buying a bigger bird. We are looking for a cuddly bird. After doing some research we were determined on getting a sun conure since all the reviews said suns are known to be cuddly. However, we have been into a few bird fairs and every single person we have met have told us that the suns are too loud and the most returned bird 🙁 My husband now is not interested in a Sun. We are doing our homework before buying a bird because we want to make sure we give the bird the family it deserves. We know these birds can live for 30+ years so we want to be responsible. We never had children 😞 so this is going to be our forever baby 🤗 We are very excited!! I'm still in love with sun conures, my husband is in love with the other types of conures but now that I've been looking at videos and reviews about caiques I am falling in love with them....🙃 ah! Decisions!! What would you recommend us as new owners of a bigger bird? Which bird or birds do you think we should focus on?
Makita Sakamura I own a sun conure and he used to scream a lot but if you start playing with it more it won't scream they are cute and fluffy birds they need a huge cage to play around if it's a baby buy some chewing toys for it and if it's 6 months then buy it some Hanging toys and some rope and give it apples 1-2 times a week they can speak but only words like kiss-kiss and something like cookie my bird is called cookie. but if you don't spend time with it they will become angry so don't buy it unless your home a lot
Makita Sakamura Of course different birds may suit some families better than others, but in my opinion, many types of conures, as well as Quaker parrots, generally make good pets for owners who have never had larger birds or parrots before. It sounds like you're preparing and researching well so I'm sure whatever breed you choose will work out well for you!
My sun conure has an OCD thing with his pellet food. He will go through phases where he will not eat a certain color of his pellet food. He seems to switch between purple and green the most. So weird to come back and find a bowl of nothing but purple food.
ours is broken lol he quacks like a duck then when the kids scream when they play he does the same but he makes an awesome house alarm when he sees some one coming near the house he makes a certain noise to alarm you
As cool as birds are that learn language pretty well, I can communicate extremely well with my cats despite only using tone, sounds, and English words and them just some chirping and body language stuff. It's actually a bit alarming how easily you can speak to a cat and get it to learn certain responses if you simply commit to assuming they will understand or are trying to understand. And from watching lots of videos with conures and the like, it seems like non-english-learning birds can be quite similar to that.
my sun conure got a lung fungas and cost me 150.00 a month for 11 months at the vet to try to save her. she only lived a few months more. DON'T FEED BIRDS PEANUTS OR BIRD FOOD FROM WALMART . vet said. so i had my conure from 6 weeks or so to 20 years. i miss her so much !!
I don’t think you should get a conure as a friend for a cockatiel. Maybe as long as you don’t keep them in the same cage, but I don’t recommend it. Conures have stronger beaks and might start to bully your cockatiel.
We always keep his food dish filled, so he just eats whenever he's hungry, about 3-4 times each day. We dump his food out and refill the dish usually every other day
Our sun conures love nibbles are becoming aggressive seeming somehow. His feathers are coming in alot more and he's a month or so old. Hope it aint hormonal. Lil dudes been over the past few days becoming curious in the biting category. Like biting and tonging my finger. Its just nerve racking sometimes because how he looks when hes doing it. Sometimes he'll grip harder tho but, never to the point it actually hurts. He's only bit once painfully but, it wasnt me and it was after the family left for the day with him in the cage. He literally cried and bit my mom when she took him out. It was sad. Now he keeps opening his mouth and running towards me from his cage going at my nose. Not sure if its its something to worry about though because he aint tryna be aggressive when doing it. He just stumbles his way in my direction with his neck all stretched out tryna reach like he would to nibble my finger and do the weird licking thing or something. Its just he's so young I ain't sure if he's gonna suddenly start becoming mean or something and these are signs 😭 need to stop him while he's young if so
Dear RedSox, I have a 4 month old sun conure, and I love her to death. My whole family does. We all thought that we knew everything about these birds, and did our research about them. But in the morning, it seems to be a problem. She squawks and squawks like crazy! It starts at about 8 am and doesn’t stop till I take her out. It’s the summer so I don’t have school, so that means I spend lots of time with her, but that also means I sleep in. Not too late though. I think I’ve made a mistake with taking her out when she squawks, so I’m trying to correct that. But my family can’t stand it. My little sister goes and eats breakfast in her bedroom, and my dad has to go in his office to watch tv, because he can’t watch it in the living room. My mom even takes her out of the cage in the morning sometimes to stop her from making noise. My dad is at his wits end, and he says he can’t stand having that thing squawking when he is at work (he works from home) or in a meeting, and he could get fired. I love my bird with all my heart, but I don’t think things are going to turn out well. My dad feels bad for buying me the bird, because we have bonded, and now we might have to get rid of her if this still keeps going on. We’ve tried many different methods like putting a blanket of the cage, and not taking her out when she squawks, but nothing is working! We live in a very hit state, and he said that he will start putting her outside (with the cage) in the mornings, and it’s REALLY hot! Do you have any advice on how to get her to stop squawking? I don’t want to get rid of her, but we might have to.
Get another Sun for companionship. She might uncomfortable about something such as lack of free flying time /exercise. Change the diet to a well balanced one. Also have plenty of toys in and outside the cage. Make sure you have a radio playing soft music while away.
@@omlbobgosmellmyass3993 instead of name calling why not try to help her "since you obviously know so damn much". She looked up the video for help. You are definitely a kid.
@@nicoleminnick8615 dont worry we already talked about it on her channel, i was really rude about so you have everyright to be mad at me but we already worked it out and i said i was sorry.
Bell Iron Fist how is it going with your sun? I do hope you have been able to keep her. She will be a long time companion if you take good care of her. I hav a 8 wk old that i adopted at 3 wks to handfeed. She/He is just precious. Starting to use that sweet voice more too. The sounds dont bother me at all, i hav a lot of birds and my goffins is the loudest so far lol. I also have yorkies and they love to voice their opinions a lot too. Lol My senegal isnt loud until he gets excited ,usually whn he hears or sees me. Or whn other birds get excited lol good luck wth ur bird
Hi! I have my sun conure that my brother bought when he was young. It’s now kinda passed on to me. I really wanna try handling regularly and give him the best life possible. The thing is, I’m scared of bites. If you have any tips or tricks to socialize this bird as much as possible let me know!
I am a year late, I might not help you at all, but just don't be scared. It doesn't hurt, sun conures can cut your skin, but minimally. I have sun conures for years, they never bit me hard enough for me to actually cringe from pain, unless i grabbed them (selling reasons). Most of the times when they do bite, they are just showing their confidence - they grab your finger or grab and squeeze, then it hurts a little, but not more than a bee sting. It's just a second of happening. After that it doesn't hurt at all. Also, you can learn something about their body language and biting, one example, if they wanna bite, they open their eyes widely and press their feathers to skin.
@@The-Critter-Box my favourite book from him is "breaking bad habits in parrots" I couldn't find it at first, since I am from the Czech republic, it's here called "škola pro papoušky" (school for parrots)
@@The-Critter-Box oh, my comment wasn't sent.. :( I said that i am sorry to hear that, I've been there too, your bird is now in heaven with some of mine birds. And if you ever consider getting a bird again, look at Greg Glendell books. They are amazing, you will know everything needed about parrots. Have a great day.
During the 2 months will there be someone to care for the bird, you can also consider other birds! energetic budgies, cuddly cockatiels, love birds, parrotlets, finches, etc; theres a variety of them so pick one that suits you
If whoever you live with will be there to take care of your bird and give them attention while you're gone then that would work fine! But whether that's a dealbreaker or not is really up to you and your personal preferences as long as the bird it's being properly cared for
He wasn't flighted. He had been clipped shortly before I filmed this so there was physically no way he could've reached the fan. Thanks for the concern though :)
Ideally you should bring your bird for vet check ups once a year, and any time you have health concerns of course. And usually if you want to know the sex, you'll have to get genetic testing done. Either that or wait to see if it lays an egg!
When you're not at home, keeping your bird locked in its cage is the best way to keep it safe. As long as the cage is safe (food and water, no loose threads, nothing to get tangled in) then they will be fine when you're gone!
Hello there. Beautiful bird. Thanks for such informative video. I inherited my Sun Conure from my cousin (She has a small child in the house and can no longer care for the bird), for almost two years now. I need to go out of town for almost three weeks. Can you please suggest what to do to prepare her to be with someone else. She is rarely inside the cage with me, but no one else is going to keep her cage free at their home. I am afraid my bird will die of anxiety staying caged for that long. Please help
If at all possible, bring your bird over to the home she'll be staying at a few times before you leave. That way it won't be an entirely new and strange environment when she goes to stay there, and you can reduce some of the stress on her. Bringing LOTS of toys for her to play with is also a good idea. And even if she won't be let out a lot, have the person watching her be around and talk to her as much as possible. Social interaction even through the bars of a cage is much better than no socialization. I hope everything works out well!
We just got two sun conures, they are so friendly and smart. Do you know how long it takes for them to get their final coloration? Ours are just over 3 months old and still have their baby colors, the yellow has a little green mixed in and the wings are mostly green still.
My conure is almost 12 so I can't remember exactly when he got his final coloration, but we got him when he was 6 months old and he still had lots of green then. I'd estimate that by a year old they usually stop changing color.
@@RedSoxChic193 I have 1 he has splayed legs and almost 3 , I bought him because he needed me and I needed him. He is mean as a snake. He was neglected he was fed but not played with or socialized , it's going to take a long time before he will trust me or anyone else . He bites hard , my knuckles are raw , they bleed . He is quick and very beautiful , he can't help it , he is scared of everything . His name is Spanky . He gets along with my other birds , he likes Charlie my cockatiel . That was a lovely video , thank you for sharing .
I guess it takes the right kind of person to care for these birds. But I need to be the voice of reason for people who are on the fence on getting a conure. Don't do it!! These birds require so much attention that if not given, they'll actually learn to screech and chirp so loudly, that you'll do anything to shut them up. If you want peace and quiet in your home, this bird is not for you. Their screech has been measured almost 100db. It will eventually get into your soul and you'll be wondering how long will it continue to make noise? At least 25 years! Did I mention don't get this bird? Unless you're in it for the long haul. I'm living this right now and she's only 14. Heed my warning! By the way, this bird is loved and cared for. Food, water, toys, regular vet visits, interaction. But when it's not enough for her, the wrath is unleashed in a fury of unhinged screeching. Did I mention don't get this bird?
Very cool! Your bird is super cute!!! I’m still deciding between a sun conure or a green cheek, but I'm most likely going to get a sun conure. Do you have any suggestions for a cage? I’m really not sure which one to pick! I know it must be at least 24x24x30 but I can’t seem to find one that’s that big, or preferably bigger.
Meringue I have a turquoise green cheek conure and I love her more than anything she’s so sweet she’s attached to me so she’ll go after anyone that try’s to touch me it’s funny I call her my guard bird she talks says whatcha doing, what, I think she says the b word😂 did not teach her that and she mimics all kinds of noises like the wolf whistle but she doesn’t whistle it she talks it it’s so funny she does kissy noises I’ve only had her for 6 months I adopted her
@@RedSoxChic193 not to make you feel bad but you realize that people can see when a bird's flight feathers are clipped and when they aren't! Your conure's flight feathers (primaries) are fully grown in, therefore your bird can fly really well. And even if your bird had been clipped (which he isn't, unless he was given a professional clipping) the fan still shouldn't be on. It's common knowledge among bird keepers that a clipped bird can still fly, and they can fly pretty well! I'm definitely not trying to be rude! Just be careful, I don't want your beautiful boy to get hurt!
also two more remarks, please DO NOT use those "happy" or "snuggle huts" in your bird's cage. Conures especially love them, but don't be fooled! Your bird can easily chew the threads and get strangled in them, or even get suffocated! And the tragedy is that most owners never even notice their bird is in danger before it's too late, search it up there's tons of horrific stories. And 2. is that please for the mental sake of your bird, don't clip them. I do not think you need to clip a bird's wings. I dislike the terms, "I only do it to keep them safe" and "the feathers will grow back". Train that bird to only go in places that are safe, work with it, teach it to come back when called, bird-proof your house. If you can't/don't have the time to do that, then why do you have a bird? Having a parrot companion should not only be enjoyable for you but your companion too, there should be a balance. You must realize that this creature is a bird, they need to have some sort of flight exercise in a large area. The feathers may grow back, but what most people don't understand is that these creatures are extremely intelligent. They can have anxiety, depression will hold grudges, they get frightened easily, and can/will feel vulnerable if they can't fly. Flying is their only defense. You have to remember that, inherently, this animal is wild. Those feathers may grow back, but the mental damage that the clipping caused, won't. Again, these are just things I noticed, people will disagree with me. And I think you're very knowledgable and helpful! and I don't want to offend you.
We typically refill his food dish every 2 days or so. Each time we give him some seed mixed in with pellet food. Every day we give him different treats, like fruits, veggies, and seeds. We also change his water every day
Our bird? We got him almost 13 years ago so I can't remember exactly, but most hand fed baby conures will go for between $300-$500 as far as I've seen. But price really depends on how old the bird is, whether it's hand fed or not, whether you go to a store/breeder/rescue/etc...
I have two of them one is a girl and one is a boy the girl sun corner layeed four eggs after 5 years but they all did not hach:(they died i really am sad
Phoebe Zertuche if you live alone then that schedule might not be ideal for owning a conure. Parakeets and smaller birds usually don't need quite as much attention so that's something you could consider. That's just my advice but I would research as much as you can before you buy any bird!
Tessa Gray My first bird was a cockatiel and I think they're fantastic for first time bird owners. In my experience they're not quite as high maintenance as conures. Conures have very big personalities (and big mouths, they're very loud lol) which can be a little tricky for first time owners. But both birds are affectionate, entertaining, and great pets :)
Yes! They need 10-12 hours of sleep every night, in a dark, quiet place. If you cover the cage, that especially helps to get them settled in for the night
How we introduced our was I turned on the bathroom sink, since it's a gentle spray and just sat my hand underneath it and played in the water. She eventually got curious after several minutes and came on her own down to the stream. She started drinking from it first then would slowly inch her way in and back and forth. It took awhile and I never forced her. Just sat there and waited. Now she insists on taking one daily lol. It just took time and also she will only take one while attached to my hand she doesn't walk on the bottom by herself and I let her move herself around. I literally just sit there till she's done and climbs back up my arm.
One thing you can do is get a hand raised bird. Since they've been handled by humans for their whole life they're usually much more tame than a bird which was raised by its parent. And as long as you spend time bonding with it it will grow to love you :)
I am considering getting a sun conure but am concerned about the noise. I know that they have a very high pitch screech, but do they usually make this noise all through the day?
Whenever I leave and shut a door my sun conure will scream his soul off
Wtf i always play with him him and what dose he do runs why i don't know no one hurts him or yells we can't keep a water bowl beacuase he eats them all and knocks over the bowl IMEIDEATLY he gets water every hour and get some somtimes but that's the closest he would come to anyone we try to play with him but noooooo
Same here. Whenever I have disappeared from his sight, he would instantly scream like the end of the world.

i guess this i complaining why i didn't't bring him with me (i sometimes bring him with me to forest)
Maybe an companion will help in my opinion, this only happens to me when I put her to sleep or wake up but she’s quiet most of the time because she has her best little buddy next to her, so she doesn’t feel alone or afraid to be by herself lol
@@Gorion103 that’s sooo nice of you bring your little buddy outside with you, I can’t really do it, since my bird is afraid to go out of my home

a tip to people who want a sun conure!! buy a tamed pet as they will probably be hand reared like this one in video so you can handle them straight out of box. if you buy a aviary bird it will take u maybe 1-2 years to get it to this level but remember you need to spend alot of time with it and also depends on the nature of the bird. and sun conure will NOT live around 25 years unless you feed them a balanced diet of fruits and seed. normally they live around 5-12 years just on nuts and seed. and finally if you want to get a another bird to accompany the sun dont get the same species as they will start ignoring you if you want a tamed bird. this is good if you work long hours as they will play with the other one. finally they are LOUD SCREAMERS!. i can hear my ones from outside my house and this may be bad for neighbours.
mrkiller1980 pelleted diet is actually the best, with fresh fruits and veggies everyday. Seeds and nuts as treats.
mrkiller1980 seeds and nuts are terrible, it’s has no nutrients just a LOAD of fat.
mrkiller1980 what kind of fruits
Vegetables 101 no they have good oils birds need, and there good for training

To all those people wanting to get a bird
(Please do research before owning ABY type of animal. There is no such thing as a "starter animal" or a "beginners pet"
This applies for all types of birds
If you are in school/work consider these things
- Are you not gonna be around it for more than 8 hours?
If yes then don't get one unless you get two or provide them with A LOT of toys or activities and people who can keep them company to keep them "social"
If no and you will be home all the time after school/work hours then getting one is fine and toys can be moderate. Some in cages and some outside. Since you are around the bird you can keep it company and socialize with it. This way the bird will be happy and socialized so that it will not attack strangers or run from strangers (as in guests or friends)
- Are you able to keep up with the birds costs?
It owns you ;)
Neu Dii I have various birds and honestly this sounds like you've made it just to scare people lol
This is very helpful, thank you! Lots of people buy large macaws or cockatoos and can’t care for them, it’s sad :(
I can’t wait to get my sun conure! I’m still deciding between a sun conure and a green cheek. It’s like deciding between loosing your hearing or getting your fingers constantly bitten!
Lol 😂Any tips?
So cute I have sun conure he 5 years old, can’t imagine my life without him very rewarding.

I want one so bad rn
My family got chickens and I had a little chick on me so I decided it was a parrot and but it in my arm. This then somehow reminded me of jaiden animations and made me want a conure
Great video! Thank you 😊

I'm getting a sun conure at the end of the month this was helpful thank you
I'm gonna be saving up for one. So I'm doing my research now
I might be getting a sun conuer or ringneek in like a week i know so much about them
sorry to be THAT guy.
That happy hut is not a good idea, and neither is keeping the fan on, plz do take our advice.
wow, ive just been transported to fashion famous
who would have thought-
Mine used to bite me until I removed the cozy tent from its cage. Birds don’t need a nest if not for breeding. Try it for a few weeks and see how it improves your birds life and your bites😂
My heart skipped a beat when I saw bird not being clipped yet the ceiling fan on
Appreciate your concern but he actually had been recently clipped. They had left the outer primary feather on each wing but the inner primaries were all clipped so he wasn't in danger :)

Makita Sakamura one more thing they are very social they are good in pairs they can even play with the other types of conures
Makita Sakamura Our sun conure is certainly loud but he's also very silly, fun to have around, and affectionate with us!
Keep to parakeets they are lighthearted and darling
I think we all would like a followup video!! ❤🦜🥰🥹
Thanks

My mom is letting me get a new bird and i want a sun conure so thanks for this information!
My sun conure has an OCD thing with his pellet food. He will go through phases where he will not eat a certain color of his pellet food. He seems to switch between purple and green the most. So weird to come back and find a bowl of nothing but purple food.

Beautiful bird 🐤 🐥 🐤 🐥
SO ADORABLE.
Sooo gorgeous!!!!!

I have a cockatiel but am thinking of giving him a buddy while i am at school.
I don’t think you should get a conure as a friend for a cockatiel. Maybe as long as you don’t keep them in the same cage, but I don’t recommend it. Conures have stronger beaks and might start to bully your cockatiel.
Thanks. Because of quarantine I don’t have that problem any more.
Nice bird sis
How many times should they eat?
We always keep his food dish filled, so he just eats whenever he's hungry, about 3-4 times each day. We dump his food out and refill the dish usually every other day
Nice vid
...Woah. We have the same name and the same bird 😂
Also, the burning stove is dangerous!
thanks a lot really helpfull!
Its just he's so young I ain't sure if he's gonna suddenly start becoming mean or something and these are signs 😭 need to stop him while he's young if so
They are also extremely territorial and do not like strangers. At least mine does. He will fly and attack anyone he doesn't know.
Dear RedSox,
I have a 4 month old sun conure, and I love her to death.
:D

Ok, I am 13 and REALLY want one. I go away for 2 months of the year for camp though and don’t know if it is kinda a dealbreaker. Please help.
But whether that's a dealbreaker or not is really up to you and your personal preferences as long as the bird it's being properly cared for
Why do you have a fan on with a flighted bird???
He wasn't flighted. He had been clipped shortly before I filmed this so there was physically no way he could've reached the fan. Thanks for the concern though :)
When do i bring mine to the first vet visit and also dose the breeder tell me what gender they are
Ideally you should bring your bird for vet check ups once a year, and any time you have health concerns of course. And usually if you want to know the sex, you'll have to get genetic testing done. Either that or wait to see if it lays an egg!
RedSoxChic193 I was just wondering where you purchased your bird, i have not been able to find any
Kelly Sanchez look for ones for adoption. Many people surrender conures because they are "too loud"
We got him from a local exotic pet store. Adoption is also a good option. They're not found in a typical pet store very often

I want to thank you for the video. My question; There's a prop-FAN on the ceiling. Isn't that dangerous for a bird?
If it is on, yes.
Hey What if i amAt School What Will Happen then and How Do You keep it safe while you are gone
Depends
When you're not at home, keeping your bird locked in its cage is the best way to keep it safe. As long as the cage is safe (food and water, no loose threads, nothing to get tangled in) then they will be fine when you're gone!
The fan is on in the back😨
i really want a conure but i can’t find any that aren’t around 600 dollars

Can you tame a non hand fed conure
Wouldn’t risk leaving the ceiling fan on while my birds were out their cages .
I am currently asking my parents for one but as I live in Liverpool they r quite rare

IM GOING TO GET ONE!!!
Very cool! Your bird is super cute!!! I’m still deciding between a sun conure or a green cheek, but I'm most likely going to get a sun conure. Do you have any suggestions for a cage? I am gone for school 5 days a week for 8 and a half hours a day. Would it still be a good idea for me to get one?
I'm so scared for your bird at 2:43 . Your conure is fully flighted yet the fan's still on...
He wasn't fully flighted, he had been clipped not long before this was filmed :)
And I think you're very knowledgable and helpful! and I don't want to offend you.
how is your feeding routine?
We typically refill his food dish every 2 days or so. Each time we give him some seed mixed in with pellet food. Every day we give him different treats, like fruits, veggies, and seeds. We also change his water every day
i no joke just got a sun conure and his bites hurt but how do u pick him up withut him biteing u
What does it mean when they hunch down and kind of flap their wings
Your bird is telling you to handle and play with him or her.
Usually that they want to go somewhere or that they want attention!
CUTE!!!!!
Hello, what if I'm in school for 7 hours? (Some days 6)
Simply Zoey Hi so I have a sun conure and I'm in school to so just have someone take him out though out the day and when you get home take him out
Are they good for kids or beginners?
No
How much did you buy it for
I go to school and come at 5:30 and then I do home work then I have a couple hours would that be enogh time with a sun conure
Phoebe Zertuche if you live alone then that schedule might not be ideal for owning a conure. Parakeets and smaller birds usually don't need quite as much attention so that's something you could consider. That's just my advice but I would research as much as you can before you buy any bird!
by long hours, do you mean 8 to 10 a day?
Should I get a sun conure or cockatiel for my first bird
Tessa Gray My first bird was a cockatiel and I think they're fantastic for first time bird owners. In my experience they're not quite as high maintenance as conures. Conures have very big personalities (and big mouths, they're very loud lol) which can be a little tricky for first time owners. But both birds are affectionate, entertaining, and great pets :)
RedSoxChic193 ok thanks! :)
Are they more quiet during night time?
Yes! They need 10-12 hours of sleep every night, in a dark, quiet place. If you cover the cage, that especially helps to get them settled in for the night
I try to bathe my Sun Conure but he is absolutely terrified of water! How can I get him over this?
How we introduced our was I turned on the bathroom sink, since it's a gentle spray and just sat my hand underneath it and played in the water. She eventually got curious after several minutes and came on her own down to the stream. She started drinking from it first then would slowly inch her way in and back and forth. It took awhile and I never forced her. Just sat there and waited. Now she insists on taking one daily lol. It just took time and also she will only take one while attached to my hand she doesn't walk on the bottom by herself and I let her move herself around. I literally just sit there till she's done and climbs back up my arm.
Is it hard to tame them if you adopt one? I’m afraid he/she won’t like me and bite me if I adopt one
One thing you can do is get a hand raised bird. Since they've been handled by humans for their whole life they're usually much more tame than a bird which was raised by its parent. And as long as you spend time bonding with it it will grow to love you :)
you say if you work long hours it is not the pet for you does that mean school
I am considering getting a sun conure but am concerned about the noise. I know that they have a very high pitch screech, but do they usually make this noise all through the day?
Far less than a young child!
OH COOL
Thanks
