Cool. Some people love them, some hate them. I agree with you, obviously. It's a load carrying monster, but I have found it better with 2.35 inch tyres.
Very entertaining, maybe you should of took a trailer 🤔😉😉 I thought I took a lot of gear. 😳 and then you panned onto your backpack 😊 Kit tip - for spare spokes - just get a ‘Fibre Fix Emergency Spoke Kit’ this is what I have. For backup tubes, get some tubilito tubes. Much lighter and compact than rubber. Not cheap for so much more lighter and space saving
Thanks Julian. Hope the end to end planning is going well. If I get the opportunity I’d like to ‘intercept’ you as you pass through Somerset and offer some encouragement. Loved the Paul Jones book chat.
Man, I’ve had it with being honest on here 😂. Yes, but one of my aims was to load up the bike and see how it did. I ran out of things to add, so the solar panel came along. Never really used it other than a test. Hell, I never used 50% of the stuff. Watch my other vids and you will learn, I am a ‘gear head’ and need help. But I’ll tell ya, I love Scotland and Wildcamping so fingers crossed I can get out there again and do better next time 😉
@@badgersbikepacking4138 i have watched your videos and have been very informative, I am aspiring bike packer too but haven’t had my foot on ground yet, I am an Indian living in Scotland, it’s a beautiful country to explore hope to catch up with you. 👍🏽
What a brilliant adventure, keep it up as your videos are really good viewing. I hope to be having a mid life crisis later this year and the new bike is on order.
Hi Martin. I use a Sony RX100 iii. I think they do much newer versions now with external mic but I don’t think they have improved the imagine. It is not close to the best you can buy, but it is excellent for the size. I need to keep things as light as possible. However, it doesn’t have the stability of a GoPro so I only use it for the stationary shots. The other is a GoPro 7 Black. Very temped to go for a GoPro9. The rear rack is specifically for the Trek 1120 but I know you can buy it separately from Triton Cycles for £85, for example. However, not sure if it would fit on any bike.
I have 1120 coming, should have it by end of June. I ordered it Oct 10th !!! Currently bikepacking on a Rocky Mountain Sherpa full sus. The 1120 will let me get everything on the bike and leave the back pack behind! I dislike riding with a backpack. No way I would take all that stuff you are slogging around!!! I'm in Central Ontario Canada some nice trail based and forest road bikepacking here. Have been enjoying your videos, subscribed.
I was carrying a lot of gear, which a few people have mentioned, but that was the idea. To load it up and see. You carry carry a lot of gear on that bike. I think around 70+ litres which is a lot more compared to the regular bike. I like as it gives me some great winter options. I may go for some thinner tyres as those monsters do slow things down quite alot. Anyhow, glad you got something from the vids.
Yes, I have thought of panniers for much more carrying capacity, but I have enough as it is. I think this bike is very much offroad focussed, so not sure panniers would match that. I am interested in bigger rack options though, although like I say, what I have now is good. Have seen a video of someone with this bike plus big rack on the back. It could be stronger and offering more capacity?
Hi Badger. At last you've made it up to Scotland 😊 - pity about the weather; we recently had a really good patch for about 10 days or so - I wonder if you hit any of it? Was it Devils Staircase where you decided to turn back? It is actually cycleable, and a cracking decent into Kinlochleven. But on your bike, which is "heavy" the climb up would have been slow. On the upside you didn't miss out going through Glen Coe itself, which is awesome - more so when we've got some blue sky. I'm wondering what you're using for mapping. I use this (www.mapyx.com/index.asp?tn=productview&pid=61077), along with a companion app which lets you copy all your OS mapping on to your phone and view your routes, and your real time position. £135 + VAT at the moment for full UK 1:25K mapping. Fingers crossed you get some better weather - looking forward to your next vid. Would have loved to have met up - wish I'd known you were here :-))))
Made it at last, although not quite to plan. Day one was poor, but the rest were great. I was lucky. Locals I met said it could be a lot worse very easily, so not grumbling here. Yep, Devils Staircase is what the fell runners said. He said with that weight I'd be lucky and very slow. Bigger issue was that if I committed that way, then lots more of the same. Half the weight and i'd have been happy. Loved Glen Coe for a great burger also and loved the route down there. I'll take a look at your mapping. I was using OSMand with free mapping, which was very good and offline. It is down to about 1:25k, but fiddly to get loaded with maps etc... and maxes out my phones memory. Will look at yours, thanks. DEFINITELY going back up to Scotland, but more thought next time. Thanks for the comment.
Hey I'm really enjoying your videos, nicely narrated! I was wondering what is that orange cage at the front? How do you call and where did you buy it? Is it heavy?
Thanks for the encouraging comment. The orange cage on the front is bespoke to the Trek 1120. I think you can buy them but the issue is they will only fit onto the Trek frame. It is really good and can carry 7kg, but like I say is for the Trek. It costs £90 from Triton cycles in the UK, but I am sure other places sell it. You need the 4 bolt system on the fork to fit it. You can get other racks for the front but they fit in various ways which may be a better option? Like most racks, mine are aluminium, but considering how much easier they make life, they are worth it in my mind. So, I’d recommend a rack of some type certainly.
Could imagine it being very windy during the night and being cocooned in the tarp
Watching it from India!!!! Just bought this bike and it's amazing...... Thank you for making these videos!!!!
Cool. Some people love them, some hate them. I agree with you, obviously. It's a load carrying monster, but I have found it better with 2.35 inch tyres.
Once again, outstanding and inspirational! thanks so much for your content, can't wait for part 2!
Fantastic....was great viewing, and funny as well...cant wait for part 2...well done, love it.
Great cheers. Part 2 out today. Positive comments keep me doing it. Thanks 👍
A couple of great pitches there.

To be fair, i knew it was over the top and the goal to load it up, but I quickly regretted it 🙄. Trailer next time 😫😂
Got the tubilito' s but for 27.5 inch and 700c. Yep, seriously expensive when they just sit there. Thanks again for the feedback.
I must be having a mid life crisis cos I've been looking forward to you posting this. Absolutely great. It's like 'Roadkill' on bike 😊
Man plans God has hysterics!! Great video, with honesty.
Good on you for keeping going, you woukd have missed out on all that scenery. Not too keen on the amount of rain there though.
I always look forward to your videos - great stuff again - keep going!
Thanks Julian. Hope the end to end planning is going well. If I get the opportunity I’d like to ‘intercept’ you as you pass through Somerset and offer some encouragement. Loved the Paul Jones book chat.
The best bit is "solar panel" LOL 😂

Great, thanks again for the feedback. The bike is great, so happy riding.....and happy “New Bike Day” 🥳
Solar panel!!!!! :-) .....that was funny
It was that or a car battery. Yes, complete overkill, but I wanted to see if it was useful. It wasn't !🙄
Outstanding video
Enjoyed it. What camera did you use? And what brand is that orange rear rack, is it specificaly for fatbikes or any bike?

Nice video! What do you think of using Panniers and surley racks to your 1120?

Well it made me subscribe 😬
Welcome onboard. Can't promise anything other than more of the same old crap!!
