First saw Diane on Daryl's House. At 74, there are tons of things goin on that cause me grief especially the direction music is going. Much of it isn't even music, heavy metal, rap etc. And then along comes Diane Birch, I guess she's from heaven, cute , sassy and her music is like medicine. IT JUST MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER!
I couldn't have said it any better myself. I first discovered Diane on Darly's House a few weeks ago. In a nutshell, I was BLOWN AWAY by her beautiful voice and scintillating smile. I now watch that video on youtube often because it's incredibly uplifting and evokes nostalgia. I am in love with her voice, smile, and demeanor.
Diane is a little bit of Carole King, a little bit Carly Simon abs a whole lot of Diane Birch and that’s the total package. Love love her style, so unique and so refreshing
Not sure if she even wants to go mainstream. But most commercial music today lacks some serious substance both musically and lyrically. But festivals seem to appreciate artists like Diane Birch which is fine..I'd rather see an artist like her at Outside Lands or Coachella anyway.
@@jcharlesbenichou6017 I think that they're both at the same level of beauty and musical talent. But please feel free to disagree. I don't want to tell you what to do in life. But then again, I'm a fellow Millennial just like both of them (Diane was born one month before me in January 1983), so maybe I'm a little biased. ;)
I have Daryl to thank for introducing me to Diane, and I couldn't be happier. Maybe I'm coming to this party late, but I love Diane! I love Carole, and Joni and so many other female vocalists, also, but Diane has so much soul; she's so much fun to listen to. I seem to fall in love easily these days, but I don't think I will ever fall out of love with Diane. It's been a long time since I've heard such soul. I can't seem to get enough
OUT OF ALL THE PRESENTATIONS OF ARTISTS IN THE LETTERMAN SHOW, THIS PERFORMANCE AND SONG MUST RANK AMONG THE TOP. THE MUSIC AND VOICE OF DIANNE BIRCH WAS SIMPLY OUT OF THIS WORLD. WOW... WHAT A TALENT...
I was in Italy and caught the performance of Diane Birch on the Letterman show. WOW !!! I was left with my mouth wide open...Great!!!! Arrangement perfect, horns divine, band tight and her vocals, stunning...I've been around and I hope she makes in the industry, we need a "class act" like Diane. Bravissima.
Love this song but man after seeing her play this hit at Daryls with Pelton on the drums and T-Bone its done. Print it. Really surprised her work there with really one of the best bands in the country didn't rocket her. Good Luck Diane your awesome. Big fan.
i saw her at the Nick Jonas concert tonight got an autograph to she is so sweet! and she has an amazing voice when she came on the stage and started singing i was really shocked about how amazing she was!!
those horns add such an incredible depth to the song. such a '70's gorgeous sound, not to mention the shades of phoebe snow, and definitely laura nyro .
About 8 or 9 years ago I received free tickets to see Diane Birch from a radio station give away in Denver. Having no idea who she was, I figured it was free so why not! After hearing her, I was hooked! What a fantastic singer and song writer! Such a bluesy voice! Glad to see she made it!
No wonder that her debut album in 2009 was called "Bible Belt"...she's the daughter of a Seventh-Day Adventist preacher...think about it...thanks, everyone!!!
I didn’t know her until I saw her on Darryl Halls home show. She’s great.and I was a working musician in my you get years. Maybe I heard her song back then but I don’t remember it. I really like that song. Great vocals and looks too 😊This video was done years ago. She looked at that age like that female country singer Ella Langley - looks like you love me.She looks now in 2024 like Diana Birch when this was recorded n tv show. I actually for a second thought it was her. And they both sound similar.Great 🎶 song Diane
@CherAunt Totally agree! The horn production is outstanding! I love Letterman's reaction at the end of the song- dude was feelin' the song for sure. Diane's music gets you like that!
i love it for everything s a great '70's songs delivered, or should have delivered ! rock on, diane, and give us old fogies a song we needed to hear in the first place !!!!
I went out to buy her CD after this performance and been her fan ever since. Funnily, I was going to change the dial originally, but the first note drew me in. She remind me of a Carol King, another favorite as well as Karen Carpenter. Beautiful style & voice. I was drawn the same for Maxi Priest when he first came on the late show with Close to You. I remain a fan for both artists. And they never disappoint.
Saw Diane about 2 yrs ago on the talk show circuit - couldn't remember her name. FINALLY found her on UA-cam. What a great voice. Can't wait to catch her live.
I disagree, this version is so much tighter. The Daryl’s house version is probably more popular but this version is much better. Also dunno what you mean by duets but wrt harmonies there are just a couple of sections with extraneous “oooh”’s by the band that I could do without.
@@747ConeYeah, they did this tight. She didn't pack up her entire band to come on Letterman and play 'fast and loose' like Daryls house version. She does good live version.Alot of musicians cannot.
I feel like she is almost overpowered by the size of the band in this version. Although I admire the DH version, I love the simplicity, tempo and visuals of her original release.
Wow.. It's crazy how music .. Or even a name, comparing Her sound to Carol King, can take you back to the place you first heard That name , Carol K, and who, my QUEEN and recently losed, MOTHER!! @redcarpetnightclub Your right it does have a 70's vibe to it. Good call. I realized it on this track. Which could be why I love it so much. Hard to groove on the Letterman stage though compared to the LFDH.com version which is amazing.
Definitely a Laura Nyro influence. Especially on this song. The studio version is hauntingly Nyro-esque. She's not imitating or copying Laura. Diane is quite original and has a bit of a sensual growl. She is a great, great interpreter. She's just got that same groove that Laura Nyro mined so well years ago. Anyone who loved Laura Nyro is going to cherish Diane Birch.
yes, differerent from the album. love both....love the horns and that trumpet. I agree and I’m 73 must be our mindset.

He is going strong at 74, touring, & raisinga new family.

She's incredible! A young Carole King! Why on earth isn't she a superstar already?!

She said she would rather release music for free that she creates vs selling her soul and taking orders over her work
Diane is amazing. With her songwriting talent, she will be around for a VERY LONG TIME.

Great artist, great voice; also discovered @Daryll's House; She needs much more exposure! Makes me happy every time.
Just discovered her on Daryl's House. Wow !
Alton Grimes that's where I discovered her.on Daryl's.she is great
same here, Daryl's House!
Great voice and soul. She should also do country. She would sound just as great and country would sound great too. Great package.
She is fabulous. Even cuter with her personality showing at Daryl's house performances.

She and Daryl Hall smashed this on "Live at Daryl's House". That band he has on that show is tight as a snare drum.

Beautiful stuff, well done everybody. Love the trombones and flugelhorn.
