@@ivareskesner2019 HI! Sure, Richard was a Titan and an inspiration for many. But if you check Eddie's standup material, especially the early shows, you'll definitely see a true talent. That being said, I'll go check some Richard Prior now :-)

I wonder why he just pops up every now and then but not consistently. In his movies, I liked him in 48 Hours, Trading Places and as Donkey on Shrek. He could have been a serious dramatic actor because he was good in Dreamgirls.

Eddie is chill and mature. This isn’t the 80’s anymore. He was 19 when he started SNL. No one has the energy of their 19 year old self. Life has happened like it happens to us all. He has a calm demeanor and seems reflective. That’s called getting older. It’s life. I am just glad to see that he is alive and doing well unlike many of my other childhood idols, unfortunately.

They can't. You have to have at least a small short run in theaters to get considered. Which is exactly what a lot of smaller films do. They'll have like a 3 day run in NY/LA just for Oscar contention.... not that the Oscars mean shit. Google "worst oscar snubs" and you'll quickly realize that the Oscars are just another industry auto-fellatio shit show.

Omg they played the music from Beverly Hills Cop when he came out-that was cool 🤣 I have always loved Eddie Murphy. He’s my favorite SNL player of all time, and I grew up on Eddie; he was just OUTSTANDING AND HYSTERICAL on there, he created the greatest characters and arguably was the greatest all time on SNL. His stand up was groundbreaking, laugh out loud funny, and pulled no punches, then became legendary. His movies from Coming To America to Trading Places to Beverly Hills Cop and The Nutty Professor were phenomenal then became iconic. There would be no Chris Rock, no Dave Chappelle without Eddie Murphy. And the fact that he’s such a nice, humble, genuine person in real life, and fame never went to his head (and that Bill Cosby always hated him and chastised him cause he cursed in his routines, and look what Cosby did-can you get your head around that kind of hypocrisy??) just makes you love him even more. He is one of a kind. A living legend. And personally, I am so stoked that he’s doing stand up again and has finally made Coming To America 2. Can Not Wait!!!!❤️

Eddie Murphy has a voice. A voice we would all love to hear. For his personal reasons he has not chosen to use his voice for a decade or two. I don't know why. I don't question his reasons, but if he decides to speak again, I'll listen to him. I'm sure there's wisdom in his head that will help us all. Introducing him as a 'legendary giant' probably triggered his humble-bone, and probably didn't the tenor of the interview.

A string of bad movies topped off by getting caught with a transvestite hooker is why. Funny how the thing that sunk his career is now common place. If he had a relationship with a guy in drag nowadays he would be held up as some kind of gay hero. But in the 90s it was a final nail in his show-biz coffin.
