Beautiful song; thanks for posting it, Gle3nn (and thanks, Jonathan, for creating it). I thought the birth of my first kid was like an arranged marriage--this person I hadn't met yesterday was now a part of my family--but a marriage I warmed up to pretty quickly.
I love his voice and I would encourage everyone to actually buy the songs. Love this one esp as I relate due to my sons- but then again, I also love Re: Your Brains, one would hope not for the same reason.
I love it. I know exactly the feeling. Spent a year wondering what my boyfriend was doing telling his first love he still loved her and was not over her, though he prentends to be (apparently) This kinda helped me make me sense of it....kinda.
Why do people put where their from and say their opinion? Do they expect someone to come their house and say "Thank you so much for voicing your opinion and thanks for making it possible for us to find your a true hero!"? That being said... I wish I could meet Jonathan Coulton!! He rocks!!
kids change, that's the real difference, a dogs needs are pretty stable, feed them, walk them, pet them, ect. Kids needs are constantly changing, the needs of an infant are different from the needs of a toddler, and a dog will never grow independent or become an individual, and love your dog as you might, there is a powerful biological bond between parent and child that can't exist anywhere else
if you're talking about some local bands or something, that might be true but the big popular bands got people managing their channels for them. and this channel for instance is from some diehard JoCo fan posting a show because he got permission for it and i doubt he'll bother reading this
This describes my relationship with my CRT monitor. Having seen the black levels and the complete lack of motion blur I can't look at an LCD display the same way ever again. Yet when I'm sat in that chair watching some good content on it I can't help but think of how great things are now.
at the start it sounded like toy story xD I Absolutly love Jonathan Coulon and i think he really does deserve to be famous It Pisses me off to know there are people who cant even fucking sing like Lady gaga and yet there are guys like this who are so content on just doing gigs and stuff and that actually deserve to be famous because he produces something lady gaga never will and that is good music :)
It helps to find like-minded people in your region. For example, the post just below, How would you expect to find a Coulton lover in Hungary if they don't speak up?
@LeBubblesSan yeah but have you heard big bad world one, over there, i feel fantastic, or almost anything off of any thing-a-week album? he has so much stuff that isn't profane that it blocks out all the profanity.
That's sure, but dog can be very important to some people nevertheless (just go near my veterinary school and you'll see what I mean), expecially to old and/or lonesome people in my experience.
I know, thats part of the reason why I like this song, also, its a more serious song, and its good to hear he can do serious ones. Of course, I like most of his songs, so meh :P
huh , if he put together a band he could probably get freaky popular. I went to his website, all the finished tracks have drums and bass and shit, if he put together a touring band like trent rezner does , yeah, probably some serious cash.
Why is it a song about a baby? Without the introduction, it's just a song about how someone, who just got their act together, is kinda pissed because the introduction of someon new is "throwing it all away". I can see the artist's interpretation, but I really just think that the song is about the panic of changing your life for someone else, some one you didn't expect. you didn't expect.
he is so free, he sends out good energy...
i'd love to see him live :3

I love these songs. SO MANY FEELS
love this guy! i love how he writes!! :D
"This is about something personal..."
"NINJAS!"
lol...
I love his voice and I would encourage everyone to actually buy the songs. Love this one esp as I relate due to my sons- but then again, I also love Re: Your Brains, one would hope not for the same reason.

Really beautiful song :)
I love the guitar part in this song!
Coulton's great on guitar. Love this guy.
I'm not a parent. But I am a daughter.
This song nearly made me cry. It's so cute.
wow, that was so wonderful! I need to learn to play guitar so I can play something like this at my college.
Stevie Wonder 🤝 Jonathan Coulton
Writing songs for their baby daughters
an great song
What a Great Song....
I played this for my husband :) We're due in July.
krantz0808 I know this is a super old comment, but I just saw it. My wife and I had our first daughter 9 years ago this July. What a journey so far!
I love it. I know exactly the feeling. Spent a year wondering what my boyfriend was doing telling his first love he still loved her and was not over her, though he prentends to be (apparently) This kinda helped me make me sense of it....kinda.
Just posted this song on my "friend's" wall. He just had a baby yesterday.
Ha! Exactly! Brilliant.
I think this is my favourite JoCo song... I dunno it's hard.... I really love this one.
This is a favorite of mine. Especially the version he does acoustically just by himself. Go look it up, its some where on UA-cam.
Why do people put where their from and say their opinion? Do they expect someone to come their house and say "Thank you so much for voicing your opinion and thanks for making it possible for us to find your a true hero!"?
That being said... I wish I could meet Jonathan Coulton!! He rocks!!
this song reminds me of just how much of a genious joco really is
my wife and i used this song as our first dance at the wedding
Good on ya, man.
Only Jonathan Coulton could make a song about babies ruining people's lives something so beautiful.
@Eriochi He sounds GREAT both ways
nice voice
JoCo rules, i knew it was about ninjas lol
how are ninjas personal but who ever said ninjas is the man!
id love to be a guitar ninja like Jonny
i like it :D
i like its diferent but i like this way i only can say continue your way
Well, like he said, they ruin everything, but in a wonderful way.
kids change, that's the real difference, a dogs needs are pretty stable, feed them, walk them, pet them, ect. Kids needs are constantly changing, the needs of an infant are different from the needs of a toddler, and a dog will never grow independent or become an individual, and love your dog as you might, there is a powerful biological bond between parent and child that can't exist anywhere else
NINJAS ^^
So heavy.
NINJAS!!!! :D
@Ceaamjeeee Coulton all the way(across the sky)!
Ninjas! :D
if you're reading this red, congrats mate!
and good luck with the lilun! :)
WIN
yeah, kinda has a little similar guitar riff to You've got a friend in me.
Ninjas do ruin everything in the nicest way.
if you're talking about some local bands or something, that might be true
but the big popular bands got people managing their channels for them.
and this channel for instance is from some diehard JoCo fan posting a show because he got permission for it
and i doubt he'll bother reading this
Ninjas
@3incati Have you heard "The First of May"? That's not exactly family-friendly.
"Ninjas?" "Yes ninjas".. Lol!
He wrote still Alive and Code Monkey (the theme song for Code monkeys) That's how I heard of him : /
Because JoCo is a ninja...
I got the tinglies.
This describes my relationship with my CRT monitor. Having seen the black levels and the complete lack of motion blur I can't look at an LCD display the same way ever again. Yet when I'm sat in that chair watching some good content on it I can't help but think of how great things are now.
the guitar in this song reminds me of you got a friend in me from toy story...
That riff has a sort of Toy Story vibe to it. Very funky.
how many times does that woman walk across the camera durring this concert?
at the start it sounded like toy story xD I Absolutly love Jonathan Coulon and i think he really does deserve to be famous It Pisses me off to know there are people who cant even fucking sing like Lady gaga and yet there are guys like this who are so content on just doing gigs and stuff and that actually deserve to be famous because he produces something lady gaga never will and that is good music :)

he IS world wide, well, not as famous as he should be, but i'm from austria and do know him :)
Did he even write a song about ninjas yet??
I really don't know
but the song/music sounds familliar (?)
think i have heard it before O.o
I asked my mom if this was true and she said he got it exactly right. I was offended :)
@SPWLoganGrimnar Haha! Same 'ere! x]
OH GOD PLEASE NO!!!!
NO LABELS FOR HIM!
yah
I SAID GOOD DAY!
I have this exact feeling with our new dog... I'm like: Fuck! Why did we get one?! God! But she's so damn cute though...
he's also pretty funny xD
@LeBubblesSan yeah but have you heard big bad world one, over there, i feel fantastic, or almost anything off of any thing-a-week album? he has so much stuff that isn't profane that it blocks out all the profanity.
lol
sometimes i don't write songs about robots or monkeys or zombies, and instead about something personal...
NINJAS!
yes. ninjas exactly.
That's sure, but dog can be very important to some people nevertheless (just go near my veterinary school and you'll see what I mean), expecially to old and/or lonesome people in my experience.
clever
what about pirates. or dragons
Wow it really does sound like Toy Story :D
Because it sounds like James Taylor.
I know, thats part of the reason why I like this song, also, its a more serious song, and its good to hear he can do serious ones.
Of course, I like most of his songs, so meh :P
youtube is not really about the constructive criticism, that's mainly because the original artist almost never gets to read the comments posted
I think its the guitar, it sounds almsot identical to the Toy Story song he wrote
Wow, father of two. If he thought children ruined everything why'd he have the SECOND one? Congrats to him anyway.
Whoops, troll got out of his cage. Sorry for any trouble he caused. We'll put him back in captivity now.
@Stylishlyshite Coulton*
Quote: "This song is about becoming a parent (to a ninja)"
the () is a fix =D
WHO THE FUCK DISLIKES JOCO !?!?!
huh , if he put together a band he could probably get freaky popular. I went to his website, all the finished tracks have drums and bass and shit, if he put together a touring band like trent rezner does , yeah, probably some serious cash.
@ShadowDuffle ninjas killed his family. they MADE it personal.
is ti just me or does the guitar in this song sound like something out of toy story
reminds me of toy story
This song always makes me think of a certin girl.
NINJAS RUIN EVERY THING, but in a good way, :)
The riff reminds me of Toy Story at times, anyone else think so?
Like if you're watching from Chiron Beta Prime
Why is it a song about a baby? Without the introduction, it's just a song about how someone, who just got their act together, is kinda pissed because the introduction of someon new is "throwing it all away".
I can see the artist's interpretation, but I really just think that the song is about the panic of changing your life for someone else, some one you didn't expect. you didn't expect.
Well theres Ikea.
er this entire set is acoustic by himself :S
@krantz0808 n'awwwwww =D lol
Toy Story soundish. But very good.
@Ceaamjeeee Tough call but im gonna have to side with JoCo. Bo has some great stuff but a lot of it is profane.
@Eriochi Sure, you put together different takes but other than that, no.
nine people is fans of justin beiber
i don't see much difference i put my kid on a leash when he needs to poop and shove him in a cage when I'm at work or outside the house.
