I was lucky enough to be at Lyons Co this same day, while they were practicing this song. Believe it or not, this version was a practice run before they played it later that night, on the Rockygrass stage. Stellar!!! Bela and this band debuted My Bluegrass Heart that evening, and we were totally in awe of all the musicians. They killed it! So glad this version got filmed and recorded. Bluegrass perfection!!
I just now learned of Bela Fleck, as it is his 65th birthday today, July 10, 2023, and it's in Bing News Birthdays. Blown away. Simply amazing. New favorite. Haven't seen talent like this in many years.
Sierra’s intro to her second pass is insane, and her first one she just bounces right off of Brian Sutton’s motif! She’s amazing But then again, everyone in this band is ripping it!
It wasn't really until the fifth or sixth time watching this that I took full notice of all of the smiles around the circle. These folks are having BIG FUN playing this and it shines through in the music!
I've been studying Spanish - working long hours and trying to soak it up. End of day, I watch this video - sometimes twice - and I leave the room in a state of joy. That smile at 2:43 is like the sun breaking through. Thank you every one.
Holy guacamole, that's some damn fine music! I loves me some jamgrass and these fine folks look like they've been woodshedding for the entire pandemic! Throw in some saucy jazz licks and this sextet could be the next Strength in Numbers. Bravo, lady and gents. 💖 👏
Grammy winner definitely! Tracks with Sierra and Molly are my favourites. Strider is the best instrumental of the year...it takes my troubles away..Thanks Molly!..
Like a breath of fresh air in a smoky forest fire. This is a real band; they listen and look at each other while playing so clean and beautifully. The Grateful Dead used to do this.
And Bela actually added some melodic work to his improv instead of just spamming riffs. 😂 he was a genius melodic player in his younger years. Hope he brings more of that creative spark back.
That violenolist is immensively talented. Probably up with the top best bluegrass players in the world. Keeping good feeling at that tempo is really hard to do and he pulls it off perfecto.
The difference between Bluegrass Musicians and some "other" music styles is that a genuine Bluegrass Musician really has to know their stuff. They don't fake anything or just "fluff" along with the band. Each individual is a stand alone brilliant player, together they are like a finely oiled and tuned engine. Precise and exacting in their performance. No one individual overplays or underplays. They do not make bones by walking on each other, but rather each one makes all about them sound better! THIS is why I hold Bluegrass music in the highest regard! Bravo!!! Brilliant!
The whole album is insanely good. 'My Bluegrass Heart' is up there now with my entire Alison Krauss collection and a few other things that are prized musical recordings. I love Michael Clevelands grin when he's playing something amazing. They are all amazing.
They played almost 4 hours at our local theater. Nice to see Bela actually doing some creative melodic work and not just standard riffs with his improv.
It has to be said, NOCOAST did an absolutely FABULOUS job on the filming and bloody Perfect audio for this! I am listening to this song daily and NOCOAST's stellar job never leaves me wanting anything else. Bela, DRIVE is my all time fav album, and I have listened to it end to end over 200 times. And now, Wheels Up is in my top 5 all-time greatest Bluegrass flavoured songs now. Thanks so much for all the music.
And that's a practice run. Just stunning musicianship everywhere, and great to hear a dobro with Bela that isn't Jerry! :) The album looks to be so good it needs two bands to tour it, and then some. I just love this music. It just lifts the soul.
@@billb0925 Absolutely nothing Bill. That's rather the point. I've seen Jerry perform a load of times and it's always a thrill. When you know it's Bela playing you expect the dobro to be Jerry, as Bela alludes to in the album notes. That's why others deserve a mention when they get the opportunity! While I'm here again, what a fabulous album. Love the asides after some tracks.
@@oldandintheway1162 Yes, and it’s not only Bela. Jerry’s the GOAT, as well as a seriously nice guy, so he plays with everybody. I like Justin, though, and this is a killer lineup.
I've watched this video every week since it was posted, and if there is a better bluegrass instrumental number out there I am not aware of it! This lifts my spirits every time I watch it, and I'm so glad I saw them live in April. Thanks!
Bela's DRIVE is my all time Fav album, and I have listened to it well over 300 times end to end. This upcoming album sounds like it might be just as good.
I've been waiting 2 years to see you live in West Virginia. I swear if Covid delays this concert any longer I'm going to lose my mind. Here's to hoping for a healthy 2022 and an amazing show!
I love how they are all facing each other just feeding off each others vibes. This is such a good recording they are just so on point the true superstar band. I will never stop loving this beautiful music 💚
I'm Portuguese (the tiny country Americans think to be a province of Spain, but came to divide the world discovering with the Spanish, and has a large community in the US) and I do love traditional American music. This is balm for the soul, not to mention the insane skill level.
Wow. Just wow. I don’t think anyone truly understands Bela’s level of virtuosity. He’s like a Chopin multiplied by Mozart, to the Nth power of Michael Jordan. Touched by the gods!

That's such an awesome venue too.
Oh wow, these guys are sizzling! One instrument is missing....fire extinguisher :D
You mean washboard! :p
@@EliasMohr2 :D
Lol
"Sizzling" is the perfect description! 👍
@@EliasMohr2 my son's guitar instructor played with Bela for years.
As a musician myself I can't even comprehend the complexity of this set. Long live bluegrass
This is like country, fusion jazz, and classical musical all meshed into a giant beautiful ball of fire!!! ❤❤❤
welcome to bluegrass
@@6020e3 yep, pretty good description
It's called bluegrass ❤
Michael Cleveland always makes folks smile. He brings a different draw to every song he plays. To say stacked lineup. Possibly a understatement. Lol
He makes my soul shiver too
Phenom - all of 'em. Nothing but cascades of notes, and not one of them off. wow!

Sierra is the best out there in my opinion. Her rythmic chops are powerful, her leads are untouchable.
@@EliasMohr2 Do you listen it stereo? She is in left channel loud and clear ;)
A room full of geniuses.
Totaly agree💯%
They're all great. Sierra Hull's mandolin playing is off the charts.
She's by far the most artistic person there. The violinist is a close second.
And she can burn a guitar up
That is one incredible group of performers. Wow!
Wow, talk about an all-star team, this is just about as good as it gets.
An absolute treat to the soul. ❤

Amazing talents. Wow.
Bela Fleck and his brother Bena Fleck have made their parents proud with all theyve accomplished.
I like Bena's movies! lol!
oh yes oh yes. One of my favorites. with some of my favorite people. Thank You
This is virtuosity with an added bonus, it blows me away And puts a smile on my face. Thank you very much.

Just not nearly as well.

The Grateful Dead on their best day had one one-hundredth of the musicianship of this band.
@@denisradioactivewildhorsem1266 Spamming riffs? I think not.
When you put together an A Team of musicians like that, you know it will shine. Best of the Best
Michael Cleveland steals the show even in a room full of show-stealers.
This is a fantastic band. Michael Cleveland reminds me of Scotty Stoneman. Bryan is an animal. Bela and Sierra on top of their game. Bravo you all...
You've gotta be kidding right Scotty Stoneman? He knows his licks ( a little birdie told me lol) but sounds nothing like Scotty. And never will.

Wonderful! Reminds of the feeling I had when I heard "Drive" the first time.

Wonderful music, thank you ❤
Insanely beautiful

How freaking great is this. Loved every bit of each instrument. Just well done!!!
