SAS is wrong. It’s not the dumbest play in NFL history. The dumbest play is a few years ago when colts were playing against patriots & Chuck Pagano ran a play where there was one snapper & “QB” against 5 defensive linemen, i think & the rest of the players on the far right of the field. It was one of the most confusing moments I’ve experienced watching the game.
Maybe he was ordered by Bill to toss the game so Vegas could cover the spread and make the bettors and betting companies get a warning. After all, the prior Raiders TD was a sham and completely inexplicable.
Meyers is an elite athlete. Elite athletes are highly, highly trained, and I think in this situation the lateral from Stevenson initiated a practiced routine where Meyers lost awareness of the circumstance and without thinking went into a last second lateral drill. That's the only thing that makes sense to me. As good of a football player and athlete as he is- I'm afraid that he will only be remembered for this play, unfortunately. Bill Buckner and Jim Marshall were both elite athletes, and suffered this same fate.
I love how all these experts ignored the fact that with 3 seconds left in a tie game, the call should have been take a knee, and that call comes from the head coach. As always no one blames Belifraud
Raiders fan here am so happy about this win it’s been a very long time since my raiders beat the pats and to see it happen for the first time in a long time by the pats losing in that embarrassing game ending fashion is one of the most classic and awesome things I witnessed
