@@SuperSlash132 Is that so? I can't really say since I never played the original on DS. I only ever played the Switch version, which was an absolute nightmare. That one had great music too though.

I think it's plausible it's about being trans! (Being male isn't toxic, though?? Toxic masculinity isn't the same as being masculine.) I think the song is not from the singer to himself, but to another person, though. Especially the two lines about finding the sprout and whoever the song is being sung to smashing said sprout. The person smashing the sprout is impatient, intolerant, or uncaring for what that little plant can become and just kills it. Personally, I think this part could easily be a metaphor for child abuse from a parent, or abuse from a friend who does not believe in the singer's potential to transform into something greater. Sho is an artist with an obsession with making sculptures from trash and junk, believing that he is transforming something useless and ugly into something genius and beautiful. And he's constantly seeking to strengthen himself however he can, even in reckless ways that might end up hurting him, so that he can gain power and control. He's all about transformations at any cost. Becoming something greater than his past (or current) self is incredibly important to him. His upbringing must have been filled with high expectations he could not meet, and his desire to transform himself into something more beautiful and powerful is how he wants to overcome negative feelings about that and feel worthwhile. This song feels like a big "F*** you, watch me!" to whoever didn't believe in him before. Transness can easily fit into all of this, of course. That would add one more layer to the transformation, and one aspect of the transformation he's seemingly already achieved. :)

This game had its issues, but the 1 thing that always had me coming back was the music, my favorite of which being this one.
