- This is our latest project, a 1977 7.5hp Sears Gamefisher outboard motor. This motor was thrown in when I purchased the 4hp Evinrude so, it sat in my garage about three years. The guy that gave it to me told me that it didn't work and I thought he meant it didn't run. We switched out the plug, lubed the recoil and all the grease fittings, and changed the lower unit oil. The motor started up after a few pulls and then I saw what the guy meant, the prop wasn't spinning. I pulled the prop, changed the shear pin, and off it went. We will get a lot of use out of this one. Great little motor.
Had the same one years ago! My dad got it at a garage sale for $50. You'll notice she's a little loud cause she's air cooled. Pretty sure you can still order parts for it thru Sears. 😉
That is very easy way to use brod thanks for sharing
I have a 1980 7.5Hp.. rebuilt the carb,
Currently working on impeller replace. Parts are getting hard to find.
They are great motors. Good luck on the impeller replacement.
I just bought the same motor !
Let me know how you like it.
got one yesterday 11/31/22 runs great
@@scottmcgrath7163 , if you're in newengland I will give you mine. I upgraded a while ago.
I have the same motor but the prop won't turn and it's not the sheer pin maybe something's wrong with the clutch any help would be appreciated
If you put the motor in gear can you spin the prop?
@@macsoutdoors4540 yes,
The engine is air cooled that's a good engine for YOU look at you go alright get down you don't want to much power now
It's air cooled as it has fins on block and head so no need for cooling water
They are what is called exhaust cooled. There is a water pump that pumps water up to the lower bearing and then it falls down the leg and keeps the leg from getting too hot from exhaust gas. I had an old 5hp that the pump was bad for many years and the power head fractured and broke off. Maybe due to overheating the metal.
Does it takes mixed Gasoline or Regular Gas ... I have the same Motor
It's a 50:1 mix.
