When you look at the history of funding in science you will see this period of time that is around the 90's to which anything that wasn't related to climate basically wasn't funded, and anything that denied climate change was human caused got ridiculed. You can imagine how this has an impact on how scientific research is conducted can you not? Something worth noting is the impact of Jupiter and Saturns Orbits on Earths own distance from the sun during different periods in the year - and you can imagine how under certain circumstances that the gravitational pull can result in the earth being pulled closer to the sun during part of their cycle, adding to this the normal climate cycles of earth - and well, we get compounding effects that lead to multi-hundred year cycles. But I can't ever remember being told about this type of interaction - ever. Yes, we as humans should do better. We should aim to cut down on emissions, and other pollutants. But we need to stop pretending like we know what the outcomes will be with any kind of certainty. It is worth converting coal and such to say natural gas. It is worth figuring out solid, reliable, sustainable solar - and distributing power grids with home based generation to avoid total black out scenario's, and provide greater reliability: That is GOOD for the stability of society - but it also has a possitive impact on well, the environment. We should want to promote green cannopies over cities as shade and tree's in moderate to high densities help to reduce regional temperature, reduce cooling costs in the middle of summer, and can - depending on the tree's planted - even produce delicious, fresh food for the people around them. In the end - what we have is a push that is based on attaining power, and influence over other people. Instead - we should be focused on building a better tomorrow through promoting technologies in advantageous ways to achieve it. And we should also recognize, that despite not agreeing to a wide range of international climate agreements, the US has been one of the most successful countries in reducing carbon emissions... because instead of levying taxes that strip people of money to make positive change, they created a few possitive incentive structures to support a new industry get off it's feat, and allowed people to make the choice. And so we loop back to a reality: What so many people are pushing is not a solution - but effectively a punishment for people who are just trying to live their lives. And if you study history and everything else - Punishments rarely if ever work, people are far more responsive to positive benefits that support positive actions.

That's the problem with many "intellectuals" They are smug, arrogant and condescending. A little humility and acknowledgement that even though they may be well studied on a particular subject, they are not the ultimate arbitrator on any given subject. As history has shown us, when you think you are an expert on something, science has a way of humbling you.
I had a professor throw me out of class for correcting her when she claimed that Nixon started the Vietnam War and Kennedy ended it. Nothing could convince her she was wrong. She died on that hill rather than admit she was wrong.

Climate change [as both impending catastrophe and man-made phenomenon] is the biggest hoax ever foisted on the world. It's easy to claim consensus on the issue when you exclude all dissenting scientists, and there are more than you think. Nearly all scientific funding depends on their models and views supporting the consensus. When an expert's conclusions don't match up with the anthropogenic climate disaster narrative, their reputation is smeared as "climate deniers" and "fringe researchers" and funding is cut. Hence the enormous vested interest in supporting the nonsense. Recall too the hundreds of claims and dire predictions, none of which ever happened. Like all doomsday cults though, they simply gaslight and move the goalposts. It's easy when you hold the purse strings and control the media. Here's a list of climate lies via the "settled science" and "experts": (I'm old enough to recall when it was global cooling!) 1966: oil gone in 10 years 1967: dire famine by 1975 1968: overpopulation crisis worldwide 1969: everyone will die by 1989 1970: world resources exhausted by 2000, urban citizens will require gas masks by 2000, nitrogen buildup in atmosphere will make Earth unlivable by 200, earth will be in ice age by 2000 1971: new ice age date changed to 2020 1972: new ice age date changed to 2070 1973: oil depleted entirely by 1993 1975: scientific consensus on earth cooling, imminent famine 1977: DOE says oil depleted entirely by 1997 1978: no end to cooling, resulting in worldwide ice age by 2050 1980: peak oil by 2000 1988: mass worldwide drought will ruin all crops 1988: maldive islands underwater by 2018 from global warming 1989: rising sea from ice cap melts will destroy nations by 2000 1989: NYC west side highway underwater from rising sea level by 2019 1996: peak oil by 2020 2000: children born now won't know what snow is by adulthood 2002: worldwide famine by 2012 if we don't give up meat and dairy 2004: Britain to be desolate like Siberia by 2024 2005: NYC will be underwater by 2015 from global warming 2006: worldwide hurricanes to destroy nations from climate change 2008: Arctic ice will have all completely melted by 2018 2008: "Climate Genius" Al Gore predicts ice-free Arctic by 2013 2009: "Climate Genius" Prince Charles says 96 months left to save planet from global warming 2009: UK Prime Minister says 90 days left to save the world from carbon 2009: "Climate Genius" Al Gore revises ice-free Arctic prediction to 2014 2013: Ice-free arctic by 2016 2014: Scientific Consensus is only 500 days before "climate chaos" 2015 and on: I could keep the timeline going, but by 2015 the hysteria ramps up so much in volume that the list of false claims would be triple the size just from 2015 to today... Now it's the 2020s, and here we have "Climate Experts" Greta Thunberg and our old friend Charles back to tell us this time climate disaster is really going to happen. Seriously! We promise! Even if we literally went back to the stone age, it would have no appreciable effect on the so called climate change according to the official metrics and models._ In fact, with China and India responsible for over 70% of all emissions worldwide, even if the entire Western world went back to the stone age we still wouldn't solve the supposed problem according to "The Science". And don't get me started on the whole misrepresentation of phenomena like wildfires to support the climate apocalypse nonsense, or the fact that the recent "hottest days ever in history" were achieved by measuring the surface temperature of blacktop runways at airports, instead of the world standard of measuring ambient air temperature at 2 meters above ground level. (You have to read the actual academic studies to get those inconvenient facts). But we can't let any such inconvenient facts get in the way of divisive pandering, insane activism, freedom-reducing legislation and tax grabs can we?
What that professor gave to this part, of this possibly larger hearing, of this committee, just shows how scary Academia really is, especially for those who continue their education beyond the twelfth grade of high school. Really scary.
They're out of touch, and we really need an overhaul of our education system, I've known quite a few people that paid a lot for useless degree that they never got to use, and University professors seem to look down on trade schools as inferior but they have a much higher employment right because they teach actual skills, you might not be able to get a job if you've got some sort of liberal arts degree but a plumber will never go unemployed...

1934 is still the hottest year on record in the US, there are just as many trees today as there were in 1880, the world is greener than it's ever been in human history, today cities have clear skies, in the 1950s every major city had smoke filled skies, the ozone layer has been repaired, all of this can be researched.
Yeppers good point. Sometimes a strong desire for clean air and water are in demand by everyone but not everyone is a hot mess over global tempatures or melting ice bergs. That's good, and you can see the difference in many American cities, of course we helped LOL for example trees deserve to be used but of course you have to plant new ones, the ozone layer has actually repaired itself faster than they expected, the biggest problem is that other countries like India and China don't want to do their part, we're doing our part and we're getting results

Kennedy earns his money-one of the few.
He always comes prepared and he doesn’t mind pointing out hypocrisy. One of my favorites.
He is in favor of "wind" energy, which I call HOT AIR POWERED BY ELECTRIC ENGINES. That means he's invested in those high level JUNK turbines, and just like any other politician investing in JUNK, he'll praise it and support it til death does part him from it. He is a thief. End of story.
LOLOL *WHERE* is the hypocrisy here? There isn't any. Kennedy is stupidly comparing things that aren't even closely related here.
@@lennyhipp
The hypocrisy is quite simple to see. A letter signed by this professor demanding elite universities not accept money from fossil fuel companies, while the university he works at accepts large sums. To begrudge people that live in large homes and he lives in one…what part of hypocrisy do you not understand.
He is a very typical elite that seems to accept two sets of guidelines-one for the elites and one for the rest of us. All the while preaching that we aren’t doing enough. Elites is not the description I’d use-scum is more fitting. And for Kennedy? It seems to me that he was trying to get to the truth, until you debate an issue in truth, you can’t expect results. He was simply giving us a clear picture of this professor so we can decide how serious to take him. Excellent job:)
He's smart. He knows how to put people in their place using plain English and awesome one line punchlines.

@@chrisferretti7020 Good catch. What about Kerry's mansions? He is married to the widow of the Heinz fortune.
So the “professor” deems it not appropriate to harangue his own university to return fossil fuel funds, opting to state it is the university’s prerogative. Yet, he feels quite comfortable insisting that universities at which he is not employed should return fossil dollars. Wouldn’t that be THEIR prerogative as well? The "international thought leaser" couldn't convince Tulane to return the 25 million donation.
Here's a list of climate lies via the "settled science" and "experts": (I'm old enough to recall when it was global cooling!)
1966: oil gone in 10 years
1967: dire famine by 1975
1968: overpopulation crisis worldwide
1969: everyone will die by 1989
1970: world resources exhausted by 2000, urban citizens will require gas masks by 2000, nitrogen buildup in atmosphere will make Earth unlivable by 200, earth will be in ice age by 2000
1971: new ice age date changed to 2020
1972: new ice age date changed to 2070
1973: oil depleted entirely by 1993
1975: scientific consensus on earth cooling, imminent famine
1977: DOE says oil depleted entirely by 1997
1978: no end to cooling, resulting in worldwide ice age by 2050
1980: peak oil by 2000
1988: mass worldwide drought will ruin all crops
1988: maldive islands underwater by 2018 from global warming
1989: rising sea from ice cap melts will destroy nations by 2000
1989: NYC west side highway underwater from rising sea level by 2019
1996: peak oil by 2020
2000: children born now won't know what snow is by adulthood
2002: worldwide famine by 2012 if we don't give up meat and dairy
2004: Britain to be desolate like Siberia by 2024
2005: NYC will be underwater by 2015 from global warming
2006: worldwide hurricanes to destroy nations from climate change
2008: Arctic ice will have all completely melted by 2018
2008: "Climate Genius" Al Gore predicts ice-free Arctic by 2013
2009: "Climate Genius" Prince Charles says 96 months left to save planet from global warming
2009: UK Prime Minister says 90 days left to save the world from carbon
2009: "Climate Genius" Al Gore revises ice-free Arctic prediction to 2014
2013: Ice-free arctic by 2016
2014: Scientific Consensus is only 500 days before "climate chaos"
2015 and on: I could keep the timeline going, but by 2015 the hysteria ramps up so much in volume that the list of false claims would be triple the size just from 2015 to today...
