Excellent. What a fresh breath of air when compared to the trash by 'dr' Zakir Naik.

Dr. Zakir is a scholar of comparative religions and excels in his field. Admittedly, he shouldn't reach beyond the scope of his own knowledge and expertise, but to cast doubt on his credentials or to call his contributions trash is a little unfair. We can criticize our scholars but we should be a little generous while doing it.

@@aghaahmedullah8368 let me correct you by sharing facts: Zakir Naik is a medical doctor by profession. He has ZERO qualifications in Islamic Studies. He has NO "credentials" in any subject in the Humanities. He does not even know Arabic, or any other primary languages. To be a "scholar of comparative religion", you need to know at least 1) koine Greek, 2) Biblical Hebrew. Zakir Naik does not know these languages. Zakir Naik has never studied comparative religion, or any religion, at the college and university level. He has not even studied Islamic studies in a madrassah and does not even have one of those standard alim certificate. To be a "scholar", you must produce scholarly material, containing original research, which advances scholarship. Zakir Naik has produced no such scholarship; he has not authored even a single paper which has been published in any peer reviewed journal worth the name (an elementary requirement for a modern scholar). In scholarly works, be in books by scholars for the laity, in scholarly monographs, and in journal articles, scholars refer to the work of other scholars and critically engage with it. In the field of Islamic studies, biblical studies, New Testament studies, and comparative religion studies, no qualified and established scholar that we know of has ever referred to someone called "Dr" Zakir Naik because there exists no one by this name who is an established scholar in these fields in any modern educational institution.
Do you get it now? You are factually wrong. When say that Zakir Naik is not a scholar, I am only being factually correct.
I have never criticised any scholar. I respect scholars. Mr Naik is not a scholar. He is a silly propagandist and scholars laugh at him.

@Hammad Ali thanks Hammad. Generally speaking, however, whilst this would be a problem among staunch low-level polemical sectarians, most scholars I've seen do not tend to deny the scholarly credentials and learning of others even if they may have hostile views about their madhab/sect/religion. So, for example, where I am studying at the moment, we have shia and sunni scholars, alongside nonMuslim scholars, and the former two recognise each other as scholars, even if they may not see each other eye to eye. In fact, even in much of the polemical arena, where one tends to give little ground and display little reasonableness, a Shia polemicist may staunchly disagree with a Sunni but recognise the latter as a scholar in his own particular school, and vice versa. I've come across the likes of Muhammad al Yaqoubi, who is definitely not a Salafi, but who recognises the scholarly status of the Salafi scholars he is interacting with and responding to. Of course, Yaqoubi is not a polemicist, but even besides him, many traditional Sunni scholars would not be just outright denying the fact of Salafi scholars gaining an education, achieving training in particular fields, knowing the language, though they may disagree on a host of issues. The denial of being a scholar, just being outright dismissive, I think, is more a thing of the really low level polemics.
In the case of Naik, the problem is this: he literally has no qualifications in comparative religion. Zilch. It's one thing to deny your opponent has qualifications for sectarian reasons, but to say that Zakir literally does not have any is to be factually correct. Our people have a low estimation of education and scholarship and, therefore, if you're a big mouth and good in rhetoric, you'd be easily labelled a scholar.

@Hammad Ali I don't mind, I don't know if UA-cam permits private messaging. Perhaps you can temporarily post a contact detail of your here and then delete that message after 5-10 mins (I'll copy it).
