    Right. Milan has been undergoing the same, exact process London has undergone in the past few years, gentrification included.

    This is so helpful, thank you! I know there are many variables, but your examples give me a really good idea of the cost of living there 🙏🏼

      Thank you! Yes it is hard to give a one size fits all budget but as a rough guide this can help!

      @@MsBritaly - Definitely! Have you heard about the "Big Mac Index"? It's a measurement economists use to roughly compare the purchase power of different currencies, using the price of a Big Mac in those countries. Maybe you can call yours The Pizza-Pasta Index 🍕 😋

    Why the heck does an place doesn't come with a kitchen, how do you cook and eat anything??

    • @MsBritaly
      @MsBritaly  Рік тому

      You have to fit your own kitchen. People pack up their kitchens in the same way they pack up their clothes and move them between houses

    When she was showing the prices of groceries, there was a price and sometimes a second "on offer" price. What does "on offer" mean? (American here)

    Very informative video! Is it possible to teach English in Palermo if you’re not in the EU? How can Brits and Americans teach English there? I have an MA in TESOL. Curious me! 🙏🏼

    • @MsBritaly
      @MsBritaly  Рік тому

      It’s possible but you would need a visa which would mean the school would need to sponsor you. A lot of people will tell you just how difficult this is, due to limited numbers of visas and the fact that it has to be shown that there isn’t anyone else in the EU able to do the job but I have recently seen some schools saying they can help with visas - so maybe not entirely impossible!

    I studied Palermo very seriously as my family comes from about 50 km away and there is a street with my last name on it...BUT...it seems you really need a car to live in Sicily...which I know I won't be able to do...I know you can use an international license for a year but getting an actual license is tough if you are not a native speaker and then there is the expense AND the driving must be a bit intense...and I am over 70! I read that the bus travel around the island is bad...but HOW is it in the actual Palermo city/suburbs?? I just need to get to the NutraSi as I am on a special diet! Those gas prices are LOWER than I pay here in the States...I'm alone and turn the gas off when I cook pasta!! And I'm in the Southwest and our winters are mild...

    • @MsBritaly
      @MsBritaly  Рік тому

      It depends where in Sicily you are with regards to the use of a car. If you are in a more remote town, maybe yes. However if you’re in a city - it’s not 100% essential. Buses are rather notorious- again I would suggest that in the more remote places they are worse!

      @@MsBritaly Thanks for your insights! Ancestral home is about 50 km S. of Palermo...probably would need a private driver to get there...No one is there anymore, but still....would love to see it....have some very old pics of it from the ancestors...🙂

    Will they actually rent out at those prices? In few countries, English speaking landlord would means that they will add ~50%-100% on top of the rent. I am not sure about Palermo.

    Instead of saying "inexpensive" it would be much better if you say: "cheap".
    Expensive and inexpensive can very easily be mixed and misunderstood.

    • @MsBritaly
      @MsBritaly  8 місяців тому

      Thanks for the suggestion but they have the same meaning in English.

    • @ToxicVaccines_HivHoax
      @ToxicVaccines_HivHoax 8 місяців тому +2

      @@MsBritaly - Yes they have the same meaning, but saying "inexpensive" can be hard to hear correctly over the Internet and video background music. And audio issues on the devices or environment of the people watching your video. And also your accent.
      "What did she say? I'm pretty sure I heard "expensive". Did it have a "in" at the front of it or not? Not sure". 🤷‍♂️
      If you say: "cheap" there is no room for confusion. It is a lot clearer.
