I get what you're saying. I just switched from Manic Panic after 5 years of regular use to Good Dye Young. I was doing Electric Tiger Lily (orange) and had wanted to see what Riot was all about. When I pumped dye out into my bowl it definitely looked red, with no orange. I'm talking Gerard Way Danger Days red. I, too, wondered if my tube had been mispackaged Rock Lobster. However, after I rinsed, it was definitely orange, but with more red tint than the Manic Panic. They really nailed Hayley's signature orange from the days of yore. Promptly ordered a second tube.
GDY says in some of their dyes will look darker in the tube because of the natural ingredients but after rinsing out they will get to that advertised colours.
I've been looking for a purple that leans/turns blue and I'm actually really excited to try this dye now! Thanks!
This looks stunning on lvl 8 and higher imo, but yeah you're right, the 11-12 looks slightly more blue than the others

Yeah I like they mine is fading I have like level 5 and mine came out more blue but the washing is coming out purple I wish it was like more purple from the beginning

Purple Rain is lavender (pink base). Ppl eater is violet (blue base). Ultraviolet is in between both of these colors.

Do doses there non more black I thought it was going to be black but now I have blue n purple
I used this I have about 5 it came out more blue and now is fading to a nice purple but I didn’t dilute it I might cuz I have another bottle cuz thick hair. It also does get every where even after it dries it still got all over my shirt at night and pillow case even after a couple washes but the purple it’s fading too is nice purple one I found a more blue purple but for me it’s too blue

this dye is great but ppl eater faded to a blue on my hair and was the most Difficult and annoying stuff to get out..

A UA-camr that does her hair rainbow. She did this brand and the Same thing happened to her.
I work at a beauty supply store and we never sell GDY very well and recently had isssues with people accusing us of switching out our colors because the purple was so royal blue so im glad to know its just the brand and not our distribution center lol
@charlotte crissell they’ve changed so many of the formulas, I bought the original formula of PPL Eater at a tiny store in Tennessee for 2 dollars a bottle 🙂
How does the 3 and 4 look in the sun after it’s dyed though. Does it show more? I know in home is different lighting.
Hi! #4 was originally black so there was no change (it didn't take any dye). On the rest of the deeper hair swatches It still looks almost black, even in direct sunlight. There is a tiny bit of purple that comes through but I would recommend a warmer toned purple if you are hoping for it to show outside more (Arctic Fox's Purple Rain is a good example)

I love GDY’s formula and staying power but I feel like they advertise their colors as colors they just aren’t. Riot was bright red and ppl eater is blue. They just don’t match the color swatch on the box which is deceiving when you’re buying.
There reformulated them now they r sm better
My hair came out looking like blue cotton candy
