    You do good interviews, hope to see more. Maybe get a few senior citizens to tell their stories too. The library has really come to life since you moved there, good job! You are so talented. Thanks so much for sharing your life and slab city with us... :)

      If my book Champion isn't in your library pls send me an address and I will pop one in the mail. About half the book takes place at Salton Sea, some up at Big Bear. See reviews on Amazon, Miles Cobbett (channel on here, facebook and Instagram pages and AlaskaMiles on twitter : )

      A strong community is a beautiful thing, but a child is statistically much more likely to be healthy and well adjusted ,if it is raised by its biological parents.

    The lifestyle and vibe of these people reminds me of 1990's Burning Man. It is so strange to see how much that scene has gentrified. Keep Slab City free.

      The big difference being,burning man is full of very wealthy ppl and slab city is the opposite

      Well spoken. The other channels can make a person feel small...like this lifestyle is exclusive to a certain group. To me this group is authentic. I'm sure theres issues as with all places but there's a totally different vibe. Reminds me of the artists in New Orleans.

    you need to make an air condenser. using an old re-fridge cooling system and hook it up to a coil set it up in the hot sun with a water catch that falling an underground man made aqua fur that is hooked up to a water fall to keep the water turning and fresh full of life. Let it fall over rocks. It will build up and stay fresh. the more condensers the more water in the desert.

    Society has become sick. I hate being in this modern world, too many people are driven by money and materialism. Every day I wish I was somewhere in a community of like-minded people. I keep coming back to watching these videos, and something inside me says, this is the place that I will live for the rest of my life, away from society. I've made myself a promise that one-day Slab City will be my home.

    it would take a lot of getting used to but i gotta say i would like to live like this. Right now i live somewhere where rent is REALLY cheap so i take advantage of that while i can, if rent ever goes up or i have to move somewhere else where it is more expensive i totally wanna get a van... not sure about the community type lifestyle like you live in because i dont have many social skills, people dont really like me too much. what do you do for water? i imagine water would be the biggest challenge. Here in Roanoke, va we have a few springs but i bet there is nothing like that in that dry climate.... Also what happened to your cats? did you just get rid of them cuz they didnt fit the lifestyle? i dont see the cats anymore

    also here's a tip for you to make some extra cash: you can do online surveys. A lot of sites pay criminally low rates and some are scams but once you find the good ones you can make a decent 4-5$ an hour. of course you ahve to be somewhere with wifi or internet

    • @CorneliusVango
      @CorneliusVango  9 років тому +1

      we drink a lot of water too. We have to so we don't die in the heat. I get it brought in by friends and we have a big metal tank on a platform so gravity is our water pressure. When we run out and don't have enough money to refill it, we filter canal water until we can get more brought out.

    • @trishasmith6440
      @trishasmith6440 9 років тому

      yea i've thought about setting up a gravity feed outdoor shower. i watched this video of people that live in storage containers and have a huge water container on top of it on a pallet and when they need to refill it they have a forklift that they take down the road and get water. i imagine yall dont have a forklift tho

    I'm playing a game call GTA5 on the map there's a place that looks just like Slab City, I find myself enjoy being out there just walking around sight seeing out there, I wonder if this is because I have an interest in this kind of life style, yet just don't know it.

    • @CorneliusVango

      +UA-cam Tv Actually, that part of the game is based on Slab City and I haven't seen the map, but I know that there's spoofs of some actual attractions here. Enjoy, I haven't played it myself.

    Why do people that value freedom so highly keep birds in cages?

    • @CorneliusVango
      @CorneliusVango  8 років тому +4

      +Shavian1 It's better than perpetuating the egg and poultry industry. I would rather raise my own livestock in an amply sized cage than buy it from any large name brand. ua-cam.com/video/kcGsaCoFWVs/v-deo.html

    • @CorneliusVango
      @CorneliusVango  8 років тому +4

      +Shavian1 every time you eat processed food with animal products in it, you are supporting the torture of animals. That is why we raise our own. You might find it unpleasant because you live a sheltered life.

    • @Shavian1
      @Shavian1 8 років тому +2

      +Cornelius Vango How do you have ANY idea how I have lived my life or what I choose to eat?

    • @Shavian1
      @Shavian1 8 років тому +2

      +Cornelius Vango Haven't you ever heard of free range chickens? it would seem to me that keeping any animal in a cage would be torture for the animal. I'm guessing you over look that because it's easier for you to control them if they are caged. I'm sure any one could rationalize anything they do if it makes THEM feel better. You've answered my question though. No need for further discussion. Thanks for your time.

    I've always been a loner, never really fit in anywhere. I'm just sick of everyone telling me what to do, how to dress and what to think. I'm a transgender female, topless actives with a old soul.

      But the dude's at least. However I am sure he's a little younger than he looks. No amount of meth could make a 20 look and sound like that.

    I'm not trying to piss anyone off, but I'm curious. Everywhere has building codes, does that area have none? I own land in the Florida swamps and they screw with me out on a dirt road.

      I was thinking the same! I live in Florida as well. We went through all sorts of headache building a bedroom in part of our garage. Florida is a little more nit picky compared to other states though.

      Christine The Mommy Yes, but they have law's in California too. But why chase these people out of the desert and into the city? I'm not trying to put them down but society doesn't want poor free living people around.

      I don't consider these guy's poor. Living this way is definitely a choice they've made. Most have no children and could work around the clock and live a good life. They choose not to. I volunteer, helping families who lost their homes due to job loss or illness, who are desperately trying to get back on their feet. Those are the truly needy in my opinion. These guy's kinda just wanna spend their lives hanging out & smoking pot. Building stuff I guess helps them feel productive. Which is whatever...I'm not bashing 'em. The only thing that really turned me off was panhandling I seen in one of her videos.

      @markmcdaniel304 6 років тому +1

      Christine The Mommy yes that's about it. That panhandling is why they don't mess with them and let them stay in the desert.
